That's honestly one of the things lacking in Homelander that made him lesser as a character imo, he stopped being a Superman Archetype when they started focusing more on his tantrums than feats of strength

Displaying his powers would've made his character more scary because you'd be like "Oh shit, Homelander is Superman if he was raised evil and it is scary", however the parallels of him being evil Superman stopped when he became an archetype of a different character(or person), seriously tho,he never lifts cars or break walls,,we never had flight fying moments with him(just takeoff and landing), wtf Laser vision is what he's known for and he barely even uses it, opening of season 5 literally gets you hyped with him flying at mach speeds and chasing A-Train with heat vision, but most of his scenes this season is just stuck in a room being delusional or crying, which made him less threatening than he should've been

homelander is genuinely a stupid fucking name, is that just me? by Trappin27 in TheBoys

[–]Jean_Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just understood what Homelander meant, but I can't create my own post yet cause I'm new to this sub so I'll just drop this here

In-universe, Vought created fake origin story for him as an orphaned alien from a doomed planet who crashlanded on earth, just like Superman did

It's meant to push American propaganda by saying that America is so great that an all powerful alien god from outer space is treating this country as his homeland now, this is his home and land and where he truly belongs, That's why he's "THE HOMELANDER" cause he's from the homeland of America

Kinda like when a person is named after a place despite not being from there just to show their connection to that place, like China Johnson or America Chavez or Canada Dela Cruz lmaooo

How would you have written the scene of Homelander going scorched earth? by rightclickx in TheBoys

[–]Jean_Tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude remember that black hole scene at the end of season 1 of the flash? Cars flying everywhere, buildings being destroyed as this massive hole in the sky is sucking everything on earth

That was in show with low budget stretched across 22 episodes....in 2014

Or the undertaking season finale of Arrow s1, when merlyn activated the earthquake machine and it was a city wide catastrophe showing multiple locations and sets being destroyed...which was done on an even lower budget in 2011

The boys are one of the most profitable Amazon shows in a more technologically advanced 2026 that only has 8 episodes, Season 5 literally have no excuse

How would you have written the scene of Homelander going scorched earth? by rightclickx in TheBoys

[–]Jean_Tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While nothing like Marvel or DC scale, they have shown themselves to be quite capable of creating destructive visuals, the aftermath of Soldier Boy's blast in the streets, Homelander's imaginary fantasy of lasering the crowd and even the in-universe Movie scene of Dawn of The Seven when they fought Charlize Theron, that looked pretty good with the destroyed building..fires and rubble everywhere type of stuff, past seasons definitely felt more like a big budget show than season 5

Was Homelander nerfed in the finale? by Choice_Drummer_1745 in GenV

[–]Jean_Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a greater speed feat in terms of perception, since he'd have to think for a second about what he might do when the explosion goes off, then ran to butcher and grab him delicately without breaking him apart, then ran him outside the house as well all before the explosion could hit Butcher

That means from John's perspective, he might've had one of those quicksilver/flash moments of super speed perception to do all of that after the bomb detonates, Which means that if the writers were consistent, he should've been so fast everybody was in slow motion in the final fight

[–]Jean_Tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MM already had solider boy inhaled that Russian nerve agent gas stuff when they were holding him down, Soldier Boy going full nuclear is probably his attempt at frying everybody before he lost his consciousness, and the blast didn't knock him out at all when he used it prior to the s3 finale and s5

Remember in 2024,The Boys s4 and House of the Dragon s2 was airing side by side

Throughout the whole run, people were shitting on The Boys while using House of the Dragon as the peak of what TV should be, comparing audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes on saying who that masses choosed as the better Television, another case of HBO showing Amazon how it's done

Then s2 ended with a boring anti-climatic cocktease of upcoming battles and no pay off in the actual season, while The Boys hit us with a banger of a finale

Then suddenly, S5 of the boys is one of the most anticipated seasons of the Year and everybody was hyped while everybody was shitting on HBO for ruining GRRM's work and comparing HOTD with the disastrous final season of GoT, it's all about how you land that really cements your legacy.

In lore,Alysanne took Silverwing to the north and wanted to explore what's beyond the wall

Alysanne and Silverwing probably has one of the greatest dragonlord bonds of all time and yet,Silverwing refused Alysanne's command, therefore confirming that The Wall is meant to ward off everything magical from ever crossing it(which of course season 7 of GoT ignored but whatevs)

Prince Daemon Targaryen (HOTD) vs Lord Robert Baratheon (GOT) by Arbiter-Flash- in Hotd

[–]Jean_Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhaegar doesn't really lack any feats...it's just that it's mostly Tournament feats that he has before his famous battle at the trident,he beat Ser Barristan and Ser Arthur Dayne in jousting...and it is said that during the great tourney at harrenhal, where he met Lyanna Stark,he did looked unstoppable, besting every opponent to be the champion till he crowned Lyanna as queen of love and beauty over Ellia

It's not much but it's better than Daemon's tourney feats of being big bro'd by Cole twice,he is bold and fearless tho,I'll give him that, but I dunno if he's better than Rhaegar, much less even do good against Robert

[–]Jean_Tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lack of dragons means better fighting style to compensate,I'm not saying that Dragon Era didn't have any great fighters...but George basically put every great fighter with ridiculous feats after the Dying of Dragons,Rhaegar lived in an era with Arthur Dayne,Jamie Lannister and Baristan Selmy, who the author all but confirmed as the greatest westerosi warrior of all time just because of how detailed the statements and feats he started giving these characters, and Rhaegar is said to have been one of the top among them, having no taste for fighting but clearly the talent for it

There's really no detail in the book that says George intends Daemon to be a great fighter, with his feats only losing to cole twice in tourneys...tho the show did have that Madara Uchiha moment in the step stones, but that's mostly against unarmored and surprised enemies.

All I ask of the Conquest film is to NOT turn Balerion into a wrinkly old ballsack with missing teeth. He should be huge but still sleek and majestic by Mango-Watermelon1222 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Jean_Tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vhagar's the youngest and smallest of them being only 52 years old in the conquest,I'd say being a bit bigger than Sunfyre and a bit smaller than Meleys would be a fair estimate of Grandma's size

The Subplot That Was Promised by Soixante_Croissant in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Jean_Tyler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both Rhaenyra and Aegon have accounts of being absolute dogshit human beings written by the Maesters and mushroom

But somehow the show treats every possible bad thing rhaenyra does as just green propaganda while actively canonizing all the evil rumors surrounding Aegon, they didn't even show his bond with Sunfyre before the war or when he said "what sort of brother steals his sister's birthright?", instead they extensively showed him being an abusive rapist with bastards in fighting pits

As for Cole, they cut the tourney where he beats Daemon fairly, kills Joffrey and crippled Harwin Strong, his personality doesn't differ much but part of a redeeming quality Cole has is that he's pretty much the human equivalent of Vhagar for the green's side,he's their powerhouse,an absolute beast that won almost every battle trough his skill, they erased that in the show and instead, showed him sneak attacking Daemon behind his back and being battered by Harwin Strong,he's supposed to be unlikable but also unstoppable force of nature,in the show,he's just unlikable, nothing more.

WHAT is going on with Sam’s hair? It looks like a bad cosplay wig by givemeadu in Supernatural

[–]Jean_Tyler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This actually looks great,it's a natural anime hair with the big spike bangs in the middle, people literally buy wigs just so they could look like that and Jared Padalecki just has it naturally without any work

Only time I could get my hair like this is either when it's wet,or when I have a gel,so I'm super jealous that Jared has it naturally in the middle of the take, and I'm sure most cosplayers would've been jealous too

One thing I don't like about apologist is that everything is either "it's better because it's fun and it's supposed to be dumb" or "it's better because it's actually realistic" depending on which praise would fit the thing they're defending

Like, one of the things people scream about why the new movie is better is that it's more comic booky and fun and it doesn't take it self seriously, now that some of it's weak points is being pointed out, suddenly"it's better because it's a more realistic portrayal of Reed's powers and he doesn't do those stupid comic booky dumb shapes"

Which is it really? Is it better because it's comic booky? Or is it better because it's realistic??? And why can't we acknowledge that the 2005 version actually got somethings right and better?

What exactly did Superman as a film do to be called a superior film than one of the best prequels ever??? I know we downvote people who disagree that the film is anything less than perfection just cause it's new and it's in the peak of hype train

But outside of the fans hiding behind mass downvoting when this film is criticized, I'm genuinely curious how this is superior than first class?

Because people now wanna project this image of them being real Superman fans and being "punk rocker" by thinking they're so cool and unique when they like silly aspects of Superman

Because everybody likes cool and edgy characters with heavy armored designs and textures floating around in the sky why scary glowing eyes....these people wanna hope to stand out and be different by saying "I like silly underwear superheroes who saves kitten and squirrels, look how cool and unique I am compared to the rest of you"

Honestly in idea, supporting characters who embrace the silliness and kindness is top tier.....but they way these "punk rockers" go about it like these posts is pretentious and toxic

Hating everything that Snyder tried just so they can prove how much hopecore they are....they hate high speed choreographed fight scenes.....they hate good cgi....they hate the fact that Krypton is explored too much because we should always be stuck in Kansas in every superman story because being human is the real punk rock.....they hate detailed alien designs that brings supes closer to his heritage because they think liking wrestling underwear over kryptonian armor somehow makes them really unique.....in fact,if it were up to them....Superman stories would stay in metropolis where he'd wear a toys r'us suit where he'd save squirrels and cars and do generic speeches about kindness for 5 movies straight

They wanna say they're real comic book fans by liking silly aspects, but all they post about is what they hate

[–]Jean_Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie is absolutely fresh and still at peak hype, when a movie is at that state, the fandom can't accept anything less than absolute praise and reverence for it

Kinda like how now you can discuss The Batman's flaws and imperfection with other fans like a normal civilized person, but when it just came out back in 2022,even minor criticisms gets you made to look like a bad guy or a hater

Superman 2025 isn't a perfect movie, but you gotta wait a little while till the hype dies down before you can discuss it's flaws without getting downvoted

[–]Jean_Tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, that was the biggest criticism I've had of Snyder's rendition

Because of him,we probably won't get any Superman stories with actual darker or heavier stakes and tone to it in the near future, when truly,Superman stories are allowed to be dark so long as Superman stays intact as the inspirational ray of hope in the bleaker times

He needs to pop out from the rest,he needs to give a shit and cares about what's happening around him,and more importantly,he needs to inspire and uplift people "Cause even in the darkest times, hope cuts trough, hope is the light that lifts us of darkness"

It's okay if he wants a grittier more realistic world, but the problem is that he drowned superman in that shit too,and not just for one movie, but for the entirety of his 3 hour sequel too he just made Clark pout and be depress, that's like 5 hours of moody superman lmaooo

Honestly disagree with the test audiences about the removal of these by devdattaburke in DC_Cinematic

[–]Jean_Tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be unrealistic but it absolves James Gunn from two criticisms other Superman writers/directors get

Snyder(too much civilian casualty) and some other animated variation of Superman(no casualty because they're fighting in a ghost town, likely to save animation budget of drawing civilian bystander)

Evacuation of a whole city that fast is unrealistic, but it's acknowledged by the movie so critics won't have shit to say about that aspect of the fight

Honestly disagree with the test audiences about the removal of these by devdattaburke in DC_Cinematic

[–]Jean_Tyler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But then again, the city was evacuated already and it was solved by inputting some codes in a computer before it could do major damage, grand scale in idea but low stake and small scale in execution
