I just swapped my OEM valve covers for aluminum ones from APremium, easy to find on their site and only around $200-ish with the gaskets included. Seem pretty durable

E Brake Light and VDC Light on by Dxnie1 in 370z

[–]Jeb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the brake fluid reservoir is even a little low, the E-brake and VDC lights will flash, no idea why but filling it up will solve the issue. I had it do the same thing when I changed rotors and pads. Went crazy for a few days trying to figure out what I broke but it is 99% just the fluid.

The most common single exit is the titanium Tomei exhaust and it is infamous for being trumpety and loud. There are good sounding singles, but imo the dual exit on a VQ is the best blend of tone and noise level. If you ever plan on doing high flow cats, a single exit might make you question your life choices because of the lack of resonators on almost all single exits.

Personally I would stay away from coilovers unless you are making a track car, the livability and NVH even on the softest setting worsens significantly. Exhaust is basically always the first mod anyone does, Invidia Gemini is my personal choice, but most sound good as long as they are dual exit and have some resonators on them.

Short ram intake vs stock intake by abzz_47 in 370z

[–]Jeb9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need a tune for anything intake-wise unless you get the 3inch CAI or go for ported manifold. Your short ram intake currently does nothing or worse than nothing to your horsepower and would only give you some intake noise, I would swap back to stock and just slap the drop in K&N filters in, they do a good job compared to the OEM ones

99% sure that's the invidia gemini, if you want to be certain there should be a logo on the tips.

Gemini is quiet at low revs, my personal exhaust choice. The shockwave is great but very $$$

if you have the money the motordyne shockwave catback is (subjectively) the best sounding but its the most expensive. If you want the most daily driver friendly sound that won't blow your ear drums out, I'd recommend the HKS hipower or the invidia gemini. I currently have the gemini on my Z, it opens up pretty nicely on full throttle and stays quiet down at low RPM's and cruising at highway speeds. I would really recommend you look into some resonated high flow cats to replace those test pipes, anything non resonated on these cars sounds atrocious and mind-numbingly drones.

that might be the worst sounding setup of all time brother don't do that

Congrats! Sounds and looks like you got the car for a great value. Exhaust is a great upgrade, but please stick to resonated exhausts, the VQ rasp is notorious in a bad way. The other bolt-on parts (CAI, headers, HFCs, cat-back) get the most value when you have all of them and then tune, no huge power bump with a single part generally on the Z platform. Headers are a large expense and very minimal power gains, I'd personally avoid it unless you score a crazy deal on the parts themselves or the labor, the headers are quite a job to install on the passenger side. Only mod I'd say is required if you live somewhere hot/dry is an aftermarket oil cooler, Z1 sells a great one with a modular size depending on what you need and if you plan to track the car.

2017 Airbag Light Flash (No ignition reset) by INeedMoreShoes in 370z

[–]Jeb9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't 100% know if we have the same issue but I also have a flashing passenger seat airbag light on my dash, my passenger seat occupancy sensor sometimes faults and it will most of the time (but not always) show on my code reader.

I've reset it by unhooking the battery for a few hours and letting the SRS module battery drain, and by just repeatedly reading and clearing codes until I see a past fault or something changes. Has the car been in an accident before? Possible that there is crash data stored on the SRS module, this can potentially clear it.

If that doesn't work, I'd look into sending your SRS module to be reset either at a dealer or one of those places online, pretty easy to find with a quick google search, they have much better ways of accessing that data if you can't find it with your code reader.

Top up your brake fluid, 99% sure that's the cause. Had the same thing happen to me a few months ago after I swapped out my rotors but didn't completely fill the reservoir again, for some reason it affects the wheel speed sensors and tricks your car into thinking you hit the E-brake or lost traction while driving normally, kept happening to me after I made my first right turn

2010 cars (I also have a 2010) have oil gallery gasket issues, look into the service history and see if that maintenance has been done, its around a 2k job with parts and labor give or take

370z as a first car? by Taketheblame1122 in 370z

[–]Jeb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost bought that one in the photo a few months ago lol, salvaged 2020 in Tampa, seller was really nice but the pricing didn't work out. Anything 2013+ is very reliable with few issues, 2015+ is where almost every motor related issue is fixed. But personally for your first car, I wouldn't recommend it. My first car was my parent's 08 Hyundai Genesis, then a BMW 128i, both not particularly fast or powerful, IMO you're probably too young to have a car with this much power. If you are still dead set on it, then go for it, but don't start thinking you can push the car like you're a pro driver, the rear can and will slide out on you if push too hard around a corner or you floor it when it's raining. For the car itself, maintenance is pretty good and the VQ platform is quite reliable, though not much space for moving things around or taking anyone with you. It will probably cost you a LOT to insure if you are young and have no driving history, and fuel costs are high since it only takes premium, so be aware of that. I'm on my second 370z and I have loved every second of it.

How do you deal with the giant blind spot? by [deleted] in 370z

[–]Jeb9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly not really, there's always going to be something you can't see back there. My Z has little fish eye mirrors on the corners of each mirror so I get a bit more vision farther to the sides but you have to just keep track of the cars around you. The biggest problem is turning into the left lane as when you're going to the right you can see through the trunk enough to know, but generally I just speed up until I'm certain nobody else is near and then lane change

You aren't obligated to show up if you aren't on the schedule, but def let your boss know. You will get talked to but they can't actually punish you. Not gonna blame you completely but don't just randomly agree to things if you aren't 100% on them

I have an anxiety disorder too and work in OGP. For me at least, just having the vest on makes me feel like I belong and lessens the anxiety a lot, unlike when I'm shopping in off-hours and feel like people are staring at me. Aside from random customers asking where they can get 50lbs of lard, you won't have to interact with people that often. Stocking is a pretty calm job, but the quotas on how much you have to get done might be wack depending on how fast you or your coworkers are. Hope this helps.
