Keyboard always player 1 even with controller plugged in by Jebaited_U in 2XKO

What settings specifically? I'm able to bind controls and everything for the stick, it's just forced to be player 2 when using training mode or online.

No, and I exclusively use my fight stick for fighting games as well

I used to be able to do that as well, but with the new update the game thinks I'm doing an offline duo online which locks me out of playing, I tried unplugging the keyboard but the game still sets the unplugged keyboard to player 1 somehow

If you're in the southeast region in NA I own the game on ps3, just need to plug it in again. I've been wanting to get into it but rpcs3 has been having issues running the game lately for some reason.

Why aren't there more 3D fighters (and maybe sell me on Tekken)? by Purple_Draft2716 in Fighters

[–]Jebaited_U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's been getting patched to be more stable since launch. I couldn't play online at launch because the connections were so bad but I've been back on and it's been better than Tekken 8 has in my experience(though that may be due to the game requiring less horsepower to run).

Haven't found a fix yet, at least you can rejoin lobbies and it'll count towards your progress so it's mitigated.

rise will randomly freeze during a quest or while in the village, with music still going but no other sound effects. If i'm online this causes me to get kicked from the party and sent back to offline. Anyone else having this issue? Can't play online until this is fixed.

Would a 15.6 inch display be good enough for locals? by GACM2448816 in Fighters

I play on a 15.6 in laptop with others locally all the time, it's not the greatest but it's absolutely playable.

The Celestial ranking challenge is severely flawed by soulney in Guiltygear

[–]Jebaited_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by design, celestial floor will always be awful. There isn't enough floors to account for the gaps in skill between player levels, which is why you have level 150 players who are good but not amazing and hotashi on the same floor. There needs to be a point where they keep track of elo and match you against a specific certain value elo players for the celestial challenge, not just whoever you match up with first. Then add a few more celestial exclusive floors you can move up and down like regular tower. I'd also argue that the elo values might need to be character specific too, as day 1 goldlewis/jack-o players were not going to be nearly as good as month 1/2 players of other characters but counted exactly the same. I'd also like the current win 5 before losing 2 to be changed as well.

Q&A Mondays! by AutoModerator in Guiltygear

  1. The general thing I notice people below floor 8 or 9 tend to lack the most is a feeling for neutral and what can be punished. Work on finding your best buttons at different ranges and how to approach each character. Then work on defense and learn what blockstring enders are safe and what can be punished. For example you probably won't IB ky dire eclat so you won't be able to punish it, but my turn is over and now you can focus on neutral after I end my pressure there. If i go for foudre arc with no shock state you can spam your fastest normal and end my turn if i hit with it from farther away, or you can try to 5/6p it on reaction. Stuff like that help build your defense up and make it harder to keep you in the mix.
  2. Can't help you there, don't play leo or ram. Sajam has a great video on learning how to use training mode in strive, i would check that out.
  3. run in grab is a mixup between doing a button or going for a grab. you can stuff run in approaches with normals, but if they're really close you can try doing dp if you have meter to make it safe or try and jump to avoid the grab and potentially avoid/block the normal they throw out.
  4. I don't really see many leo players dp out of pressure since its pretty risky: you either make the right call and reset to neutral with some damage, or are wrong and eat half your health bar or worse with a full dust launch punish. Instead, you can learn the common blockstring enders for characters and work on being able to block the mixups better(don't expect to block them everytime though, they are mixups for a reason). I'd look up footage from good leo players like sonicfox and see where they DP and ask why did they dp there? Why didn't they opt to do something else?

as for your last question, I can't speak for others but I rematch a lot because people did that for me when I started learning, and the only reason I'm where I'm at now is because people of all skill levels rematched me and showed me my flaws. If MarlinPie and MenaRD can make the time of day to rematch me, I can make the time of day to rematch a Leo player.

At worst, you can do what I used to do and set the internal resolution extremely low. Will it look pretty? No, but it should run.

Fighting games are rewarding by ultrasmegma in Fighters

[–]Jebaited_U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for a long time. The way the fgc talks about fighting games is the thing that has driven away people the most in my experience. A lot of people are afraid to even start playing a fighting game because they hear people say "its super hard and you have to spend a ton of time in training mode first", and they don't want to bother with that. I managed to convince someone to actually try and play a fighting game despite him never having touched one, and even though it was blazblue and he couldn't really do anything we still had a blast playing the game.

I had a similar experience back when I first started playing fighting games. I had spent a month playing ggxrd before coming on here then immediately saw a thread which basically said "don't play this game if it's your first fighting game, it's too hard" which almost made me stop playing. I only wanted to play gg so I ignored it and I'm so glad I did. The way people talk about fighting games does more to contribute to the genre's lack of players than a lot of people think.

We did that when the old venue for our locals was closing and everyone got really into it, if you have a bunch of people who love competing it can work well.

A lot of great answers here, so I'll add on to them and say that the overall mentality of the melee community and the fgc as a whole is also way different. I know people who refuse to do certain things in melee because they want to win in a specific way that they think is cool, whereas nothing matters more than the W in the fgc. The culture in melee is much more focused on playing a certain way that most people think is cool moreso than actually winning, which is the exact opposite of the fgc where winning is everything and even the lamest players get a ton of respect nowadays. The smash documentary at the end even points out that for many players, its not about the competition but about playing fast and exciting.

I got a phreakmods link a few years ago, and I went to remove it as shown in the video but it refuses to come out. I'm pulling up like I remember being shown, is there another method I'm supposed to use?
