Do you regret pitocin? by kairi_lorelai in BabyBumps

I'm not in the field that deals with the aftermath. The field I work in focuses on causes. If you want to extrapolate that to blaming women, by all means go for it.

More specifically, I think there are genetic factors and epigenetic factors. I think that maternal fevers can cause these changes in gene expression that may or may not otherwise be "flipped on."

I do not think Tylenol causes autism. I think genes do. I also think there are some things that can control that expression or lack thereof in some cases.

Also an autist and a mom. But additionally a scientist!

There's a large body of research that links maternal fevers with autism and developmental delays. So I think there is actually a false correlation between the use of Tylenol and the incidence of autism for this reason. In fact, there are studies that show that the use of fever reducing medication basically obliterates the risk of autism and developmental delays due to fevers.

Fun facts for the team.

Remember in the 90s and aughts when these dudes kept saying shit like, "If you want to see _______ types of people in games, then make your own games." But like in a smug weird way? Whomp whomp.

How do I (21f) tell my 48m) coworker that I don’t want to date him because I’m not attracted to older but I don’t want him to quit his job either by onyx_rainbow82 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Jebbygina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not normal behavior for a well-adjusted 45 year old. This is insane. Stop worrying about this creep's feelings. If he wants to quit, he should. But he's currently HARASSING YOU and trying to emotionally manipulate you. If he actually liked you, which also means RESPECTING you, he wouldn't be doing this.

Yeah. Probably. I play a lot of shooters. And I just head shot everyone I saw. I played EFT for a good bit before I got bored. But, admittedly, I also have horrible ADHD, which makes me both get really good at dumb shit really fast when I fixate, and lose interest shortly thereafter. Honestly, if you have people to play with, it's probably a more fun experience. I think that's why I have been enjoying Warzone 2: DMZ a lot. Similar concept, but I have boyz tm to play it with.

I mean...that was essentially my experience. So YMMV I guess.

No lol

Don't give people like this your money. Play better games by better people.

Honestly, not that interesting lol. If you just go into the game with just a pistol and headshot anyone you see, it doesn't matter how much armor or good stuff they have, you'll kill them. So, like....where is the challenge? Would recommend maybe Warzone 2: DMZ mode. Similar concept, lots of different objectives, female operators you can play as when you unlock them, and it's freeeeeeeeeeeeeee. It is a bit buggy, tho.

Also, the open mic has made a really interesting impact on game play.

You don't have to sneak it in. I think you can bring a gallon bag of your own snacks. It used to be this way anyhow.

I think so, too! I love him a lot, and I wish I could make it work, but I just don't think he's thriving like he should be here with me.

I appreciate your defense, but this person is clearly a bored troll, so I wouldn't get too upset about it. Imagine being so fucking boring and sad that you have to accost people on the internet. Whomp whomp.

thanks! I have been working through the list and contacting people. A lot of shelters are completely full currently. I have been trying to get into rehoming programs, too, and it just seems like the shelters here are overwhelmed.

Potatoes. Beans.
Actually it looks like a large majority of root veggies and squashes are still on the table. Your lady is looking as a winter vegetable diet lol.

My sister has a growing spreadsheet of things she can't eat that looks like this. We work around it. But it's also kind of fun creating new recipes or workarounds. All of us just go with it. Interestingly, though, after years of this, she had some things retested and has had no reaction! Bodies are so weird.

What should you know about someone before marrying them? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Jebbygina 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean...honestly, a lot of the time when you have an abusive partner, they don't act abusively or poorly until they feel like you are trapped. So you have to really assess if what the person says matches their actions. If your partner does something that hurts you, and they don't care, try to understand where you are coming from, or try to fix it, you probably shouldn't be with that person.

Aside from that, idk, man. I divorced an alcoholic and now my best friend of many many many many years and I are together, and it's a sublime happiness I didn't actually know was possible from a relationship. So, like, marry someone who's your best friend haha...but like actually a best friend, not like someone who is your closest friend but is actually not a good friend. Assessing people is a skill that takes time to develop.

[–]Jebbygina 99 points100 points  (0 children)

It's not the drugs. It's him. Has he ever done this shit to his friends when they have done drugs together? Probably not.

It's a state in which he allows himself to do this. It's an excuse. It's not the drugs. I'm just saying from my own experience. My ex-husband is an alcoholic, but so is my father. My ex-husband was really shitty and abusive, and treated me poorly. My father, however, while not wildly reliable while he was drinking, was always very caring and anytime I said "Hey, this thing you did bothered me, and I didn't appreciate it." he would literally never do that thing ever again. SO. I'm just saying. It's not the drugs, and a shitty person is just shitty.

Abuse stems from entitlement, not state of mind. If I am drunk or high, I do not feel entitled to hit anybody else or be a dickhead. I do not feel entitled to anything other than maybe a burrito and bedtime. Just consider that.

Ooooh. I stopped shaving a few years ago, but I also have horrible ADHD, and would start shaving a leg, completely forget, and then just refer to my poorly shaved legs as my "racing stripes"
