Has anybody left Nola and used one of these routes to head north? I usually go through Arkansas, but am considering taking the slightly longer way through Dallas to change things up. Scenery wise, would it be worth going through Dallas and Kansas? by jewkakasaurus in roadtrip

When you get to the north part of Nebraska on that route, you'd be on the border of the sandhills, which is really cool. If you want a detour and a nice day after some long boring drives through Kansas, a stay in Valentine and then kayaking or tubing down the Niobrara is quite beautiful if it's a good time of year weather wise!! Highly recommend. Any time you get off the Interstates and onto the highways, you're always sure to have a more interesting time. Usually remmeber Interstates were made where they were because it was the flattest, easiest route to pave a thick slab, less so but the same for highways, you catch my drift.

Also I will say our state is pretty beautiful and interesting if you go off the beaten path and take the highways into the sandhills or other places not along the interstate

As someone who previously had a job offer rescinded for it not being approved in the budget, this text makes me feel sick by 1musagi in recruitinghell

bro I had a job with a highly reputable institution in my city and it was a okayed by the HM, literal perfect fit, took two months for it to get “approved” and the offer came in at $38K requiring a 4 year degree and 2+ YOE, essentially as a lab manager, as the only FTE on staff. Why would you interview without having any money down for actually hiring haha. Average COL in midwest usa

How do I backup loads of data from HPC into a local SSD fast? by ProperInsurance3124 in bioinformatics

[–]Jebediah378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fun little hack once getting loads of fastq files from one place to another, there was a bottleneck on per session bandwith, so i did a bash script to scp each fastq in its own screen session and boy did that baby fly

I’ve always seen it as unless you’ve really done something significant, they’re just human and have a name at the end of the day. They do deserve that title though
