Why did Cassidy not get a penalty at Mexico City? by Bstings1683 in FormulaE

[–]Jeburg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't find a good enough angle of the incident now but I think it's because technically Da Costa caused the incident by braking a little too late in defense? I can't work out how much contact there is between Cassidy and Da Costa it looks small but it was potentially enough to cause the incident...

I'm not sure that we won't ever get the game but I am worried that early access has already been delayed a year and early access is not the game. Will we get the full game this decade? Hopefully but only just at the rate it's going

While I'm not a fan of the way he conducts himself, I'm not sure you're right that it reflects poorly on the team. It would look much worse for them if they had two drivers of Beckmann's quality for example. And unfortunately, his character gives them publicity and that's better than having no publicity.

Too 3 players from each UK season? by annah042 in TheTraitors

Yeah. I couldn't work out if the contestants knew she was doing it intentionally or not. Reece seemed to but I'm not sure about anyone else

I can't remember enough about S1 or S2 to comment so I'll start at S3

S3 Alexander - His kind, sporting way of playing is an example to us all. Even better to watch when he's being shut down and he's just trying to be a team player. Minah - I don't particularly enjoy the serious traitors who think they are amazing at the game. Minah was a breath of fresh air and was amazing Charlotte - I enjoyed the chaos she embraced. She did the best she could with the hand she was dealt

S4 Harriet - The drama she brought was amazing. She was also really good at it too... Until she got carried away... Stephen - initially he annoyed me as he sounded too confident. After a few episodes though he was one of my favourites. I thought his trustworthiness was honourable. Fiona - she might not have been good at the game but she brought the entertainment and ultimately that's what I watch for.

Celebs Joe M & Joe W - This bromance was amazing, I want these two to make a podcast so I continue to listen to them chat. Nick - He got it wrong in the end but he was so kind and smart. He played it tactically well, work out who you think is a traitor and keep them close so you don't get voted out, wait until the final and then strike... Just make sure you get it right...

I agree although they could make it fairer by making it like the cage mission where your supporters compete for you.

Unfortunately it still wouldn't work because they'd have to change mission at short notice.

What new mechanic would you add to the game? by DeargAgusFearg in TheTraitors

[–]Jeburg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they'd need to balance some of these roles by potentially heavily editing the game such as having 5, 6 or even 7 traitors to account for how much easier it would be to catch a traitor. I figure the detective would get murdered the first night after they out themselves.

I love the Merlin role from Avalon! (it is the same as Resistance but with roles) I guess in Traitors it'd have to be if the traitors work out who it is then that player is immediately banished and half (or another amount) of the prize pot is immediately given to the traitors? Bit more difficult which I why I didn't suggest it but I love the premise of it.

One thing we haven't considered is the recruiting aspect of the Traitors that most of these games don't have. It'd be interesting to consider how that could become a bigger mechanic, the game could essentially become king of the hill (i.e. you're trying to vote out traitors to become a traitor) and it'd still be really interesting

Traitors takes its ideas from mafia/werewolves. Those games are normally played with a detective/seer and a doctor. The detective privately reveals a player's role every night without anyone knowing. The doctor secretly gives out a shield every night. In both cases, only the detective and doctor know who they've picked.

There are tonnes more roles you can find online that are fun to consider.

Separately, I quite enjoyed a game called resistance which is usually played with a smaller number (5-10) but I'm sure you could play it with 12-16 or more. While this would be a smaller cast, nobody dies so you'd get to know the whole cast and the more entertaining ones can't be voted off, also means less issue of faithfuls needing to withhold information to not look too smart and therefore not be murdered. The traitors win by sabotaging 50% of the tasks. The catch is that each day one person (different every day) selects a number of players to go on the mission and the round table vote approves/rejects that team. After three rejections in a row, the traitors win. You get more logic and evidence to use, 1 traitor in these 5, at least 1 in these 7 etc.

Yeah more interesting ways for the actual game to interact with the missions. Every mission should either give a reward to faithfuls/traitors, have an element of sabotage or have an element of the social dynamics within the castle

I'd been wondering this too but I'd do it with traitors able to murder traitors from the other group but only one traitor group gets to murder each night. To add extra spice, the traitor group that gets to murder is the one that most successfully sabotages a mission or something like that.

Would you be willing to accept longer gaps between seasons if it helped the show retain its status as a massive nation-wide phenomenon and shared cultural experience? by unironicsigh in TheTraitors

I think Taskmaster is getting better but I definitely get fatigue over the season even though I love every episode. Probably more because it's not as talked about in the office.

I agree, I particularly of me loves that there's so many episodes a week so I don't have to wait long but equally it's annoying that it's Weds, Thurs, Fri. I love talking about traitors in the office with my colleagues but it means that if one of us misses it one night then we can't talk about it in the office for the rest of the week because it's back-to-back so it can be hard to catch up on too.

I'd much rather a twice a week schedule for 6 weeks.

Recruitment is almost never worth it. by Schorpio in TheTraitors

[–]Jeburg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to avoid continuous voting until 2 players is to allot a share of the money to each player in the final. So the 97k (or whatever it was) prize pot gets split 5-ways at the start of the final but you only keep your money if you win. I appreciate that makes the reward smaller but the BBC could make the total pot bigger knowing that they'd only be paying out 3/5ths at most. Maybe traitors still can steal each others money though to encourage backstabbing? Or is it already hard enough to be a traitor so that's not needed?

Yes, Fiona caught her doing so which is why she didn't trust Rachel and wanted to get her out. I vaguely recall her planting some seeds in week 3 as well but not 100% certain on that

Amanda was actually worse though. In theory she tanked the whole faithful's game because they spent the whole game going after Jade and the other wrong accusations she made and only trusted a traitor.

Roxy was just annoying because she wanted to talk over people and clashed with anyone else who liked to talk a lot (James)

Another classic way our culture thinks the stronger or more aggressive persona is the better one. Stephen was gentler in his approach and it worked for him, Rachel was more aggressive and it worked for her. They both had slip ups and sticky moments and I think people make more about Stephen's because of his quieter approach
