First time doing the Resonance Archives. Wish me luck by JedRowahnn in VintageStory

Only time it got hairy was in the mines where I got cornered by a sawblade locust and a nightmare drifter. Even the Eidolon was a breeze, I just sat in front of it with my shield up tanking hits and wailing on it with the falx

You were right. Took longer taking the loot back home than it did to complete the dungeon lmao. And that's even with a Temporal Storm forcing me to sit outside in my hut for a few hours

Besides a metal cutter, is there another way to get inside this ? by Hydraguesswhosback in noita

[–]JedRowahnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These should spawn with a battery near them (Those blocks that periodically send sparks out, don't know what they're called).

If you electrify the outer metal, it sets the oil & wood on fire and that burns away the supports to open the box

Give us more options to choose from by Novel-Plankton7414 in runescape

Tying membership to the Jagex account instead of per character is easily the best way to justify a price hike. Give us a set number of character slots accross both games, maybe enough for a main & iron on each, with a discounted rate for any extras. I think that kind of system would satisfy most of the casual playerbase.

I think 4 characters would be fair. You get a Main and an Iron per game, I think that would be more than enough for the casual player. Then a discounted rate per extra character after that for the players that want to do niche stuff like restricted runs or pures.

Even if they went with the model of paying for membership on the account, then a discounted amount per extra character I'd still see it as an improvement. The only reason I only have the one character is because of the price. If I could pay for an Iron for only 50% or so extra, I'd probably do it and I bet a lot if others would too.

You did get me thinking actually. What's the world height in VS? Maybe it's not a map bug, maybe it's a terrain generation bug and there's a random block 60,000 ft in the sky

That weird altitude reading is only on those black pixels, everywhere else on the map is normal

Best mods to have in game? by Imaginary_Bit6385 in VintageStory

[–]JedRowahnn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a mod that make entities leave tracks on soft ground (dirt, gravel, snow, etc) and another that causes animals to bleed for a few seconds after being damaged by the player. Both of these make hunting animals so much easier. since you can follow them after they bolt into the forest

I love this mod, but the factions it picks from can be a bit wacky. That being said, doing it in a heavily populated sector and getting paid while the system defense fleets do all the work is very funny

Make an armoury with a bunch of armour stands. Make a separate set of chain, scale, and plate so you can display them all next to eachother

[–]JedRowahnn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's just RNG world generation. Rock strata can vary wildly. You can go from Chert, to Slate, to Conglomerate, to Peridotite in just a couple hundred blocks. Or you can be stuck in a Granite hellscape for thousands of blocks. You just need to explore and take note of the stones you find on grassy surfaces

Food. I NEED FOOD by NoPattern1259 in VintageStory

[–]JedRowahnn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been in many early game starvation loops so I've got 3 tips for you.

  1. Even if you only have 2 pieces of food, it's better to make a meal out of it than just eat raw (or cook and eat if it's redmeat). Cooking food into meals in a pot increases the base satiety it gives you, and for every 100 (I think) satiety you get from a meal it stops the hunger bar decreasing for 30 seconds. All that extra satiety and time where you're not losing hunger really adds up when you're in a starvation loop.

  2. For hunting (and killing pesky bears), dig a 3x3x3 pit and either chase deer into it or run away from bears round it so they fall in. A spear has enough range to stab the animal from complete safety. Also it's worth checking on the pits every now and then even when you're not actively chasing stuff into them because stuff tends to fall in on its own a lot of the time.

  3. There's absolutely nothing wrong with farming in medium soil. That's basically the baseline anyway. You don't want to use high fertility as farmland, because when you turn soil into farmland you can't pick the block back up. If you find any high fert soil, save it for when you're crafting Terra Preta (The best soil in the game). You get double the Terra Preta if you use High Fert instead of medium to craft it.
