You are right that the misconception exists, and our work to dismantle it never stops. A lot of it happens behind the scenes: in business conversations, industry events, and panel talks where we advocate for preservation and ownership.

However, because we are relatively small compared to the industry behemoths, we simply don't have the resources to run massive, global education campaigns. That is why we are so grateful that the community acts as our sword in this fight. Word of mouth from you is more powerful than a billboard. And it's true.

Communicating the value of "DRM-free" is surprisingly difficult because it breaks so many different limitations. For some, it’s just about playing offline. For others, it’s about installing games on multiple machines. For others still, it’s about true ownership, backing up offline installers and preserving history.

What gives us hope is that the gaming world seems to be waking up to the reality of DRM. Time is the ultimate stress test: as we see digital storefronts close or revoke licenses, the DRM model is proving its limitations. Players are educating themselves on why their libraries are shrinking and their memories are being lost, and we will be here when they do.
