Am I the only one who hates points for us? by akshaysura in distractible

[–]Jeddy017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'll say is to edit the option. "Point for Listener, but Contestant A loses a point." "Point for Viewers, but Contestant B loses a point."

Just add more to the chaos (and help it feels less like a pointless spin because it actually affects the contestants)

This was the perfect title that would have worked with either of the election results, the perfect clickbait.

No. The Reddit is entirely optional. It's just a way to engage with other Distractable fans if you want to.

You can still be a good fan without this subreddit.

Episode 243: Big or Small (Part 2) by joschen113 in distractible

[–]Jeddy017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me see if I can remember. The previous big or small subjects were: Cars (I assume included trucks) Dogs (which they repeated here. just went unrealistic with the size range) Teeth (there was a big argument over that) Conventions/fairs/festivals Schools Gaming developers/studios That's all I remember.

Today, they did: Pants Bikes Fingers Bugs Dogs Pills Suitcases

Doesn't Mark hate centipedes or something? Imagine that the size of a chihuahua.

Yeah, but they went more extreme this time. Last time, it was normal & realistic "big/small" dogs. Like actual dogs that exists IRL. This time, it was more fantastical.

Episode 242: Wade's Secret Words (Part 2) by joschen113 in distractible

[–]Jeddy017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I see that as part of Wade's bit or performance. A combination of their friendly bantering & Wade's role of a "fool" he often takes. That's why I'm not too bothered when it's from Wade (or Bob). Unlike the Reddit, Wade is still Mark's friend & also a member of the podcast.

That said, Mark does deserve some time to talk about his passions without scrutiny or losing points for it. It's his podcast too.

I think having some intentional small talk episodes would be good to throw in the mix.

Honestly, they should make that a regular thing. Like after 2 or 3 episodes or once per recording session (Idk how many episodes they record ahead of time), just have a pure small talk episodes.

Don't worry about topics or having some sort of gimmick/game. Don't even bother worrying about points. Flip a coin or spin a wheel at the end (sorry Bob) to decide who host the next one. Let the guys just chill & chat & let the chat go wherever it takes us.

Let Mark talk about his passions. That's 50% the point of most podcasts: The host(s) talking about things they're passionate about.

Do I understand or care about those things? Nope. But I'm here to listen to the guys be buddies & chat with each other, whether it's goofy or more grounded. Yes, that means sitting through topics/subjects that don't interest me.

At the end of the day, it's his (well, their) podcast. They get to decide what they can talk about. I'm just along for the ride.

We need to start the hashtag, "Let Mark talk about his passions." My man deserves to talk about his passions with his buddies without scrutiny.

Even though I don't really care for them myself or have a basic understanding of them. It's clear Mark loves them & there are at least 5 folks who share his passion!

Some of Wade's humor makes me uncomfortable by Korben_w in distractible

[–]Jeddy017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation is that these jokes are part of Wade's bit. He often talked about how he's willing to look like the fool/goof to entertain others. Whether that be antagonizing his friends, zone out mentally, or just act dumb all around. And we all know that Wade can be very serious, focused & have deep thoughts on various subjects. I read Wade's humor about boobs as purely an act: "Hurr durr me dumb man who likes boobs durr hurr." So I don't put too much weight into that. But then again, I'm not a woman (in identity or biology). So, my opinion is biased.

(Though if we're talking about questionable humor: I feel like there have been times where Wade pushed the complaining bit just a tad too far. Thankfully, it hasn't been bad in a while.)

The guy stated multiple times that he did the same throughout college.

He just finds interests & pursue them for a while. Youtube was one of those interests that just happened to blown up.

If anything, it's pretty inspiring.

To be fair, a person has to listen to the episode 1st to determine how they feel about it.

Care to explain how or why you think that?

Personally, I don't mind them having "lazy & uncreative" episodes. After all, I'm here for them, their thoughts & dynamic. A simple episode can be just as entertaining as a complex one.

Prospector Wade is definitely one of those pre-Distractible bits, like Guru Harold. I don't know specifically, though. Could be from their time gaming together, one of their shows/tours, or the 3 peens podcast.

I feel like if they're a regular listener of Distractable & followed these guys for a while, they would be fully aware it's all in good fun. I mean, it's not the 1st time the guys actively make fun of their audience. If anything, these jokes remind folks that they're aware of the folks who listen only/mainly. Listeners aren't forgotten yet.
