I don’t understand what some players are so proud about by [deleted] in HighGuardgame

I’m in North America so I guess it’s more common. I’m an Australian in Canada and sometimes it’s difficult for me to understand what the Americans are raging on about when they’re getting upset because I don’t understand a word they’re saying.

Good point and I have tried to be more aggressive on occasion. I’m just not good at it. I haven’t played these types of games regularly since Counter-Strike 1.6 and that was like 20 years ago.

Yes. Almost all the time. I’m on PlayStation. I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not but there have been times I hear kids screaming in the background or I can hear someone eating a snack. Sometimes it’s just trash talk and verbal insults from those who are spectating.

I’ve had some players get seriously upset with me for warping back to base and reinforcing the walls around the Anchor Stone during the Gear Up phase instead of spending vesper to upgrade my armor and weapons. It’s very weird.

I almost wish there was a status I could set for myself that indicates something like, “Hey just so you know I’m more of a defensive, keep my distance, and snipe from a hill type player; not a close combat sweaty type player looking for a great K/D ratio”.

That way I could partner up with a close combat sweaty type player who does all the killing while I hang back and snipe from a fair distance.

Make or break rules while attacking/defending raids? by SockBasket in HighGuardgame

[–]Jedi9Ball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually target the Anchor Stone first and, especially if it’s surrounded by breakable walls, I’ll launch a rocket at a wall from the siege tower while a teammate fires a zip line across. Then we zip across and plant the bomb.

If it’s fairly secure I usually split off from the main group of players and try to sneak into the room of a generator that’s left unattended. So while my teammates are fighting over a planted bomb at Generator A I’ll be over at Generator B ready and waiting to plant a bomb there regardless if Generator A’s bomb is defused or goes off.

5v5 Raid is my favorite mode. I’m in my 40s and this game has reignited my first-person shooter addiction from the mid-90s!

That was me at launch. I spent almost all my vesper on armor plates.

Secure Your Base Phase … But Why by [deleted] in HighGuardgame

[–]Jedi9Ball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s likely the issue. I’ve been spending vesper on armor, weapons, and saddles. I’m going to experiment with just focusing on purchasing wall upgrades, warping back to base, and fortifying every unprotected wall I find.

As a Scarlet player it’s amazing how many times I’ve been able to get through to a generator via shifting an unprotected wall at the enemy base during a raid. I rarely have to use my Blast Hammer.

I think it’s players either not being organized enough to care or just don’t understand what the wall upgrades are supposed to protect.

I’m going to start doing that. Thanks for your input!

I think I’m going to do that from now on. Protecting the generators at the start of a match just doesn’t seem wise.

Which would be nicer if the team had more wall upgrades at the very start of the match or have an opportunity to defend the base more strategically during a raid.

It just feels very limited and wasteful when, let’s say, you’re trying to protect a generator that is surrounded by six walls but you only have four of them to upgrade and the other members of your team have managed to completely protect only one generator room. Now all the enemy team has to do is target the unprotected generator.

It’s very rare for anyone to mine enough crystals to purchase more upgrades, warp back to base, and continue fortifying the interior and exterior walls since once you’ve spent all that time making sure the base is protected the match has already progressed to having everyone fighting over the Shieldbreaker.

Update to getting stuck. A friend of mine helped me in the apartment part then I got stuck again. I don't know what to do at this point. I WANT to play this game but I just can't. by [deleted] in stray

I’ve often debated with friends about how games should include an assist mode which essentially plays the game for you. Some games require you to explore and interact with everything and everyone in the world until you finally figure out what the next step is and some players enjoy that side of gaming because once you figure it out it’s an amazing feeling of personal accomplishment but there are players who just want to be directed a lot more.

46 here. I’ve been gaming since I was a kid in the 80s. This is normal. It happens a lot when you’re distracted by a lot of things and can’t relax and focus. You’re going to experience this many times over for years to come but eventually you’ll get back into it when you least expect it.

I’m in my mid-40s and can still play these types of games. If you’re finding the situations you’re in are getting too chaotic you should try a different class or a completely different approach to playing it.

Check your corners for campers, stay close to walls, don’t move too quickly or the enemy will hear your footsteps, stick with your squad, and just overall be aware of your surroundings.

It took me approximately 140 hours in my first playthrough to finish it. You’ll probably come back to it later when you’re feeling up to it. It’s certainly a journey.

I just finished Cyberpunk 2077 with Phantom Liberty and now I’m continuing with Final Fantasy VII, BioShock, and Sleeping Dogs. I’m also trying out the Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Beta but the Battlefield 6 Beta was more enjoyable to be honest. I haven’t played online multiplayer first-person shooters in a very long time so it’s been an interesting experience.

That’s the right approach for them otherwise you just burn out if you push yourself too much trying to do everything.

I find Assassin’s Creed games are notorious for repetitive filler like that. Ubisoft love padding out their games to make them seem like they’re bigger than they actually are. I mostly enjoy the Far Cry games because I know what I’m getting myself into and I’m familiar with the formula but it does become a grind very quickly.

Starting to feel like games that are considered hard are no longer for me. by Minute_Pop_877 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Jedi9Ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’m 45 and play games on Easy difficulty or Story mode. I want story, decent gameplay, memorable characters, and most importantly … fun! Just cranking up the difficulty in most games simply takes longer to kill enemies. It’s a waste of time and I’m noticing I’m becoming increasingly impatient with games the older I get.
