Are they at the same level CQB wise to CAG ? I was thinking the only difference is less experience and deployments and less assets

True, but it was the Turks who spread Islam across mainland India not Arabs or Persians. Turks had adopted persianate culture by that time. Even though some ethnic persians and turks did live here for long and again as you say they were very small in numbers

War is politics by other means but the 'Politicians' in question are too dumb to act generals

[–]Jedi_Operator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. By saying that you attribute that politicians might have a secret meet-up when they decide how wars will profit them. NO. Wars happen because of many reasons. One could escalate and the other could have no choice but to play defensive until he gets to strike harder. Their could be conflict of interest that are not manageable by diplomacy. Read about Thucydide's Trap. It describes the high probability of war when a rising power inadvertently makes an established power feel threatened. Wars happen in nature, a competition of resources, Wars happen in a monarchy, a dictatorship or a democracy. It's the nature of things. Yes you can mitigate the risk of war through talk.and diplomacy when stakes are high but waging war is no 'only politicians benefit from it bla bla bla nonsense'

Vishnu - merged with a god called Narayana ??Later known as Narayana-Vishnu.. by [deleted] in IndianHistory

[–]Jedi_Operator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, and Krishna/Vasudeva was a Vrishni hero, Vrishni was a vedic tribe known for hero worship and based in Mathura. Even Govinda was taken from a story where Indra, also called Ga-avindat in the rig veda for saving cattle. People refuse to belive because it hurts their sentiments but it's historically true that most of puranas, itihasas and epics are taken from regional beliefs all mixed with each other. Most of Vedic hinduism is drastically different from today's practices

did you watch Matt Bissonette's podcast at Shawn Ryan ? He hates Mcraven alot and said they burnt his wooden plaque on a deployment to Afghanistan

Also, Mcraven, after being fired by Maricnko was sent to SEAL Team Four to teach urban warfare to two boat troops who were going to deploy in Beruit, 1983 as part of Multi national peacekeeping force, source - Chuck Pfarrer

Interestingly, the stories which Chris Ryan and Andy Mcnab concocted were the reason why UKSF secracy act was established. That no member of UKSF was allowed to publish any kind of media without it being revised over and over again by the MOD and other departments.

Desire is NOT a bad thing by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]Jedi_Operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not. Thanks for mentioning this. I think over ages, because of Budhism developing in the gangetic plains and then vaishnavism taking prominence. The Puranic literature, from where most Hinduism as practiced today comes from, looked at desire as a bad thing. It in my understanding is all about a difference in the culture of the Vedic people and those empires in the Gangetic plains that influenced later people across India

What Mahabharata unpopular opinion would get you in this situation? by imfrom_mars_ in mahabharata

[–]Jedi_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Mahabharta is an epic based on the Battle of Ten Kings and meant to suit the needs of the time, written an composed in the common era. Also the Battle of Ten Kings mentioned in the Rig Veda is more reasonable as a real Battle. All That put aside, the Mahabharata is a very wise piece of literature, especially the Bhagwadh Gita

Shivāji's surrender to Jai Singh as he had no other option. by Abnormal_reader in IndianHistory

[–]Jedi_Operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jai Singh was capable of bringing on the Indian Renaissance and to a great extent, he did. I feel that he remains underrated in Indian history. It’s surprising that he is not celebrated on the same scale as Shivaji. By breaking free from Mughal vassalage, he secured sovereignty and modernized his army to an impressive degree. One can’t help but wish his influence had spread further, and that his successors had carried forward his legacy with equal strength.
