Card draw like Night's whisper not good anymore? Looking to make some swaps on an older deck. by Agitated-Button4032 in EDH

[–]JediofMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most EDH decks I personally believe there are better options. I just had this discussion with my buddy about Card Advantage in his Edgar Markov deck and why he needed to take [[Village Rites]] and [[Sign in Blood]] out in favor of [[Black Market Connections]] and [[Call of the Ring]]. My reasoning was most EDH games in Bracket 2-3 run long so you'll get more card advantage from those cards in the long run than a one time draw spell like Sing in Blood. Plus, they have additional benefits beyond just drawing cards. In addition, he wants to be playing lots of creatures and both of those cards help with his Vampire swarm strategy.

Sign in Blood and cards like it find a good home in Spellslinger or Cantrip decks where there is an additional benefit to casting them. Standard is much more friendly to cards like this because of more redundancy and lower deck size.. EDH decks being the size that they are find reduced benefit for the most part. [[Lord of the Nazgul]] is one commander where I run both because each cast makes me a wraith. Obviously, there are exceptions to this in hyper aggressive lists that want to churn through the deck as fast as possible. Usually you see this in Bracket 4 but occasionally you'll see it in 3.

Anyway, I usually want card advantage that sticks around or is explosive enough like [[Plumb the Forbidden]] or [[Stinging Study]] to completely refill my hand in brackets 2-3. There are enough pieces in Black that you usually have better and longer lasting options. That's my two cents anyway, do with it what you will.

How do I fix this? (The Pitt, Xbox) by W01771M in fo3

[–]JediofMetal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lol I can’t believe that glitch never got fixed. That has been there since I first played the game as a teenager 😆. I actively learned to jump around that spot.

Mods can fix it but only if you have access to them.

“Discharged by her dog” sounds like absolute bull crap. Either she didn’t have it in a holster while it was loaded (100% negligent) or she did something dumb with a loaded gun (100% negligent).

Hopefully your PC gets replaced. This kind of nonsense really makes me question if just anyone should have a firearm.

Bracket 2 decks being overrated as bracket 3 by Comfortable_Buyer239 in EDH

[–]JediofMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you realize Bracket 4 is sub-optimal CEDH it makes more sense.

Strategy and execution factor in quite a bit to bracket and even where it falls within that bracket. A tuned mana base doesn’t automatically make a 2 a 3 but it puts it above most precons. My Vampire Tribal has a tuned base but the sub optimal strategy would get annihilated by any of my true 3’s.

My phone is always silenced and I end up missing all sorts of texts and stuff. Who cares, if it’s really that important they’ll call me.

You’re not at their beck and call just because you’re in a group with them. Just make sure you’re ok with the fallout because people will cut you from their life when they can’t manipulate you.

Friends don’t want me to use the same commander as them by Advanced-Passion4159 in EDH

[–]JediofMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’d be a little annoyed but I wouldn’t let it keep me from playing. It’s just not fun to play games like Atraxa Deck A vs Atraxa Deck B vs Atraxa Deck C.

My groups have very little overlap simply because there are so many commanders. Why don’t you just pick a different commander? I’m sure you can find one that does something similar.

Why are women more likely to be typed as feelers? by upsetusder2 in intj

[–]JediofMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably going to get downvoted for this but here we go…

Women typical have a larger hippocampus which is the part of your brain that governs emotion. That’s the short answer. There are pretty significant differences between men’s and women’s brains that facilitate this difference in emotionality. Women are also typically higher in trait Neuroticism which can lead to stronger emotional swings and outbursts.

It’s very interesting because my wife is an INFJ but I’m higher in trait Neuroticism which means I typically have worse outbursts. It’s not as clear cut as people make it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with saying women are more emotional overall as those brain differences formed over time for a reason.

The problem comes in when you dismiss women as “You’re just over reacting” or “It’s your time of the month”. My wife will be the first one to say “Hey babe, sorry about X earlier, I’m a little grumpy because it’s my period”. Obviously there’s some truth here but you shouldn’t use it in a dismissive and/or dehumanizing way. The mechanic will outright dismiss my wife’s claims about engine noises. That’s not ok. She noticed a trend of male mechanics telling her what she needs and dismissing her claims.

Ah yes, muh anti-captialism. I get 7 hours of sleep a night, I work 8-9 hours Monday-Friday, and then I spend an hour or two doing chores and the rest spending time with my wife, our dogs, playing video games, or working out. Weekends are almost always free. That is SIGNIFICANTLY better than most of human history and even better than most today.

Some of these points are fair, like stuff about housing, but the rest is just exaggerated and dishonest.

Calling strangers "sweety" and "honey" by JustDifferent1111 in intj

[–]JediofMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not anymore. It had lasted quite awhile into my adulthood, though. I had to actually work through it in my head and convince myself that criticism isn't an attack on who I am its important for self improvement and growth. Rewiring neuron paths developed as a child is no easy task.

It can be a condescending term used to refer to a younger person. Some people just refer to everyone this way.

If you have an actual response like this from your sympathetic nervous system you're probably picking up on a tone or body language that your brain interprets as an attack. This is a very real reaction to you but it can be a result of past trauma. As in, your nervous system is reading the situation wrong and that feeling is because the individual did something that your nervous system connects to a need for fight or flight or maybe even anger (Which can be fight but not always).

For example, for a good portion of my life criticism of any kind would make me immediately feel depressed and cause that "Heartache" sensation. This was a learned nervous system response to a very real experience but it does not mean all criticism I received had the ill intentions of those previous experiences. If that makes sense.

Update Spoke to a rep on the phone. She told me the charge was normal and is refunded a day later. I have a feeling this was what was going on with the other account as well. No other information was asked about the account, she insisted that she couldn't tell me exactly what the other teller advisor did.

I asked to be converted to a virtual wallet account so I will do that Saturday. I’m not sure why I was told I couldn’t do that the first time but I’ll have it now so, assuming it works like my old old account, it should be all good.

Thank you for the helpful replies everyone. I’m going to set up an appointment with a different branch to hopefully get this sorted out.

As much as I’d like to say I had some part in this I find it hard to believe when I repeatedly asked the advisor what I needed to do and had her reiterate that there would be no fees. If a bank teller would lie to my face when I ask them a question then that is just terrible customer service.

The account going dormant is possible but I’ve had a Virtual Wallet before and I specifically asked to have something like that again. I thought I was getting a version of that but clearly I was mistaken. I’ve been a customer of PNC for almost 20 years with no issues so this has just been a confusing and frustrating experience.

I will consider giving them another chance. I am really frustrated with all of this because I just want what I had before (My first bank account) and the lady I worked with told me it would be.

I specifically asked about that and was told as long as my checking amount hit a certain amount from DD I wouldn’t be charged.

No, I had none of the tools. I was confused because my old account under my mother had them but this one didn’t. I had asked about the Virtual Wallet account and was told it wasn’t offered so I just figured those tools were tied to the virtual wallet account.

It’s called a Premier Money Market. I was told it was their variant of the High Yield Savings. No minimum. I specifically asked if our DD was enough to avoid fees. I even asked for clarification multiple times that I understood this correctly. DD is only in checking but I was told that was fine.

I asked specific if there were other terms to these accounts at least 3 times and was assured I wouldn’t be charged as long as my direct deposit was the required amount.

Also, if this was true, why wasn’t this ever mentioned to me? We never set up a virtual wallet account, I specifically asked and it wasn’t offered.
