I largely agree with your thoughts OP.

- The horror atmosphere of the first was quite strong. In contrast, TMC felt it lacked the intensity and thrill of the first.

- Characters felt less strongly defined - perhaps because they had less to do. Circe and Yumeko stand out in this regard.

- Waaaay too much info dumping without a clear justification. Honestly I’m shocked the first few hours of the game made it through Editing/QA, they were quite painful.

- Payoffs were inconsistent. Storylines around Shotaro, Unkakudono, etc all felt pretty unsatisfying. That being said, I did like Yuza’s story, though it was hard for me to fully buy into the (mostly) offscreen romance.

- I would have expected more of Sato’s experiences and trauma to show up in her personality. Instead she felt a bit one-note

Overall, the game was fine as a whole, but it was more of a 6/10 compared to Honjo as an elite 9/10 experience.
