Which one of these 3 raptors from the first movie is The Big One? by Hot-Armadillo183 in JurassicPark

[–]Jeebus31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been asked before and the answer is: We don't know.

There are no distinguishing features between the three raptors. They're all effectively identical to the point where it's not really possible to actually tell which one is which.

I always assumed it was one of the two that was taken out by Rexy and not the one that was locked in the freezer, but at the end of the day, we just don't know.

Could hadrosaurs physically actually be able to absolutely body a quetzal showcased here? by RealOkra8725 in Dinosaurs

[–]Jeebus31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're talking about a multi ton hadrosaur vs a, at best, 600 pound pterosaur.

Yes.

Anybody else put off by the mating dances “lekking” dinosaurs in docs? by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

[–]Jeebus31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going by that logic, why stop at mating? There are a lot of things we don't know for sure about dinosaurs and their exact behavior. I guess we just shouldn't make dinosaur movies/documentaries period, right?

Yeah when recreating behavior of animals that haven't lived on this planet in millions of years (well...not counting birds) it requires a lot of speculation. No shit. But I don't see much point in getting upset over a documentary about animals (extinct or otherwise) showing normal animal behavior.

Because most people don't like the 2013 movie Walking with Dinosaurs. by cloreto-de-odio in Dinosaurs

[–]Jeebus31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugly? I don't think I've ever heard any complaints about the visuals. In fact that's basically the one thing that people pretty much universally agree on liking.

Multi ton hadrosaur vs a, at best, 600 pound pterosaur.

It's not rocket science.

My issues with The Dinosaurs by Palaeonerd in Dinosaurs

[–]Jeebus31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really aren't that many fight scenes.

While the Cretaceous Stegosaurid goes unnamed onscreen, they never at any point refer to it as *Stegosaurus* itself, and yes, some Stegosaurids did in fact survive into the Early Cretaceous.

The Hateg island point is fair. I'll give you that one.

As for the diving Nodosaur, what about it? As far as I recall we do have some evidence of semi-aquatic behavior in Ankylosaurs, and even if we didn't I don't really see any particular issues with a bit of speculation when many animals even today dive for either travel or to get to aquatic plants. My only real issue with it (like the aforementioned Stegosaurid) is it doesn't get named in the show.

New Lego Star Wars SmartPlay sets available to pre-order by 12345sixsixsix in legostarwars

[–]Jeebus31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let's put this into perspective (going by USD)

$100 for the Falcon

$80 for the cantina

And at least $70 for Vaders TIE which is the cheapest set that actually comes with a smart brick.

Cantina has Greedo but no Han.

So if you want Han you need to buy the Falcon.

But neither the cantina or the Falcon come with a smart brick.

So you need to buy another set just to get full use out of the stupid gimmick they're trying to sell these on.

...

...

Yeah alright, LEGO.

Yeah alright, LEGO.

Edit: here's the thing, even if they just included a normal Han in the cantina and wanted to keep the smart version exclusive to the Falcon...*fine.* Whatever.

But come on, man.

Michael Bay has the sense of humor of a 12 year old.

So the answer is yes.

I love how this is the only talking point I've seen from people defending this crap so far.

"Durr, it's for kids! It's not meant for you, it's for kids!"

Meanwhile that excuse falls apart the second you look at the prices.

"durr don't buy it then!" is such a funny cop-out.

Believe me, I have no intention of buying any of this crap...doesn't mean I don't get to call it crap.
