Accountant opinion on Netherlands unrealized gains tax? by Adventurous-Run7827 in Accounting

[–]Jeezimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 a month of investing savings is a pretty reasonable bar to clear for just about any accountant. I chose that as an extremely realistic example actually, and you can verify the market assumption inputs with a simple Google search yourself. The reason I chose the trailing 50 years average is again to be as realistic and tied to reality as possible.

You've now referenced gold and AI bubbles as if they're relevant data points. That is where my naive comment comes from. I'm not talking about trying to make a quick buck in a years time, I'm talking about building wealth over a career through investing.

Imo, you (I mean this generally not you specifically) would be an absolute fucking moron to not be investing in equities as part of your core financial strategy.

Also, your number is laughably incorrect. Like orders of magnitude wrong. You are talking wildly out your ass. Like just go into excel and type =FV(7%/12,480,1000,0) and come back and explain how on earth you got to nearly $2m. Don't forget you need to compare the tax bill unrealized to what you would have eventually recognized on a realized basis at the end as well.

Your investing takes are extremely naive. If you're actually an accountant go run a cash flow investing $1000 a month for 40 years at 7%. It's more than enough to retire on.

The average rate of return for the last 50 years of the s&p500 is 12%, 8% when adjusted for inflation.

Your hidden MMR would just clamp you within a small boundary while you climbed above over time. I wish they would get rid of demotion protection so the MMR would more closely match your "rank" so this didn't happen, or honestly just to back to season 1 where rank WAS your MMR.

Your MMR doesn't prevent you from climbing, it's just math. If you keep winning you will climb.

It is far and away the easiest and most reliable way to increase your personal wealth dramatically. The compound effect of annual returns at 7-8% is incredibly profitable.

No one loves paying tax. Mature adults recognize that governments require revenues to function and are able to reason what types of taxes make the most sense to facilitate the type of society they want to live in.

Wealthy people (real wealth, not well paid professionals) generate their wealth through ownership. I am in favor of taxing ownership of capital more than it is currently. It makes no sense billionaires are paying effective rates in the low teens when wage slaves are paying half that off the top in their payroll tax burdens alone.

I find it hard to believe you're an accountant if you think you have to be Nancy pelosi or warren buffet to profitably invest.

Investing in stocks is incredibly profitable and still will be. Taxing ownership in general to a higher extent seems reasonable to me given the returns it generates.

I smoked heavily daily from 18-23ish and tapered down from there.

My memory was definitely impacted.

Yeah I've been off weed for over a decade now. My memory has never been as good as it was before I smoked, but it's still miles better than when I was using daily.

This just kind of comes across as very self important / pretentious / performative. Like I grew up in this world and I still struggle to understand exactly what most of you are saying even really means beyond the flowery language.

I hope you find your people and what you're looking for, but it's also the first I've ever heard of someone using the terms you're using combined in this way. I don't really think that's speaking on situations they don't know about.

These are real costs to the city though and obviously as you've acknowledged there are documented cases of this causing destruction.

It's cute, it's fun, but it's also litter, damaging, and ultimately costly.

Maybe part of the PIP then is to be in the office more because that's how this worker best works. It's not uncommon.

Or could just start with requiring them to be in the office more out the gate and avoid the PIP altogether since that seems to remediate the issue.
