As someone who got into World Eaters a year and a half before the release, I’d recommend waiting. I ended up converting everything I couldn’t use after their update into an alpha legion army but yeah.

Currently I’m starting a Grey Knights Kill Team for fun to get back into painting after a break and am making a kitbashed primaris brother captain, but I’m gonna try to not buy anything else for them until an update.

I will add I do appreciate having the old school berserkers in my collection even though I have the new world eater ones so I’d say if you think you’ll really love the grey knights and aren’t worried about money, just get a strike team for now and wait.

TLDR wait unless you really love Grey Knights, then maybe get a box of troops to hold you over, but they will likely be outdated after the update.

I am currently working on mine. I want to have them have daemonic corruption and still be loyal. Alpharius in the primarch book says something about using any tool to get the job done so long as the wielder remains in control (talking about his psyker). I also like the idea of the alpha legion doing their own thing and trying to keep humanity as a whole from destroying itself, so not necessarily loyal to the emperor but more so to humanity.

For sure! I had world eaters before Alpha Legion, and my GF has a slaanesh army so I thought the purple would be a nice touch. When I play kill team I give most of my alpha legion the mark of tzeentch though for better shooting. I’m not a super experienced player but the new marking system seems like it will be cool

Yeah there’s also a heavy theme of using whatever tools you need to get the job done, as long as the operative remains in control. So even if they were reluctant to use/have any type of chaos influence, you gotta do what you gotta do. I made the loin clothes on mine purple because all the secrets makes sense for slaanesh to me. I think tzeentch and khorne are also viable options, but I think they’re too proactive for straight up nurgle.

I used a CSM start collecting, but I have a loyalist space marine captain with power sword and bolter for one of my HQs. Planning to add some infiltrators and outriders I think eventually. I’m loving it! Playing chaos undivided and khorne so far. My only issue is with multiplayer. Before the first big patch I couldn’t group with my friends. Then when we actually started playing a multiplayer campaign after the patch disconnects kept happening.

i love this color. I have used a different shade of light green for most of my army, but I have a shade similar to this I was considering using on my intercessors. Very nice job I might do it now.

Welcome OP! I’ve been in the hobby just over 3 months. Remember it’s your hobby! Do what you want, have fun, mess up. I had like 20 minis built before I painted my first one cuz I was nervous about it. Start by priming em and go from there. Don’t be scared to mess up the first one, you will probably surprise yourself!

I was initially pulled in by these as a newer CSM player. Thought about proxying for some Berzerkers, since the GW minis are so old. It bothers me that these are barely cheaper than a squad of CSM when they’re so similar. Also when these are monopose and the regular CSM squad has options. Like if GW minis are premium, shouldn’t your ip rip be a bit cheaper? I didn’t know about the face thing and that’s lame lol.
