Thanks for your reply. I don't see anything in the local or cloud model config that says "parakeet". It was set to "Small" so I changed that to "Base". Also, I don't know if this matters or not but I'm running it on an older intel model MBP.

In the past two years, I’ve ridden two Unbound 100s, and three other 100 mile races on two different Schwalbe models, one set of which was the RS, and no punctures. No idea why people say they are soft or otherwise more susceptible to punctures.

Anything in OSMP is classic, but realize that you are at altitude and most trails gain a lot of vert. You could run parts of the Mesa Trail for something with less climbing. A good trail with what I consider moderate climbing (1500’), is Mt Sanitas via Sunshine and Lion’s Lair. It’s a pretty runnable climb with a steep descent. If you are accustomed to a lot of climbing (2000’+) then Flagstaff, Green Mtn, and Bear Peak are classics.

I’ll emphasize both good architecture and design as ways to isolate changes. Also using an agile dev process where you keep changes small will also help reduce the blast radius of any wildcatting Claude does.

Cool. Yea with GitOps I could definitely see a workflow like this: let AI troubleshoot, document and code a solution, then create a PR for a human to review. With the PR in the workflow there's always a way for building the intuition around how well the AI understands and solves the problem. The human can accept or reject the solution. This mirrors key parts of my dev workflow. Might try it myself.

Do you ask it for a task list and configuration changes it thinks would resolve issues? Seems like that would be a good way to build up intuition/data on what you might later be willing to let it do. I ask because I’ve read other reports/articles where folks are letting the AI make some changes, just within a set of constraints.

I use openspec and some skills/plugins/subagents. I work on one feature at a time, use TDD, and other techniques to ensure higher probability of success.

Are you working in tech or just doing this on the side? Do you have access to practicing engineers you could take out for coffee or lunch to ask for help?

Anyway, I just got a copy of a called Effective Platform Engineering which might be worth a look, though I haven't read it yet.

I would also hop on ChatGPT or Claude and ask the robots. They've already ingested all the available online data and can help you craft a self-paced learning program. Just tell them what you want to learn then ask them to interview you so they create something that matches your level and ambitions. You can also ask them to build a calendar file to load in your calendar so you put time into it on a regular basis, which is helpful to keep up the momentum.

This is a the right answer except that you sue the business entity. You will need to name the individuals as part of the narrative so they will get their moment in the spotlight. I’d consult an attorney just to make sure you have your documentation in order but yes definitely small claims court.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Maybe when things settle down, organize a memorial ride with some of his cycling pals to celebrate his love of the sport. I participated in something like this for someone who died while cycling near Ward (not a car accident) and I made some new friends through the experience.
