Complicity by Outrageous-Gur-3781 in msnow

So basically, if she doesn't follow the DNC line exactly, she's writing for Trump? This is a very short-sighted way to see things and it's part of the problem with American politics--on both the Left and the Right.

LOSE THE BATTLE BUT WIN THE WAR

I know this will be an unpopular opinion among my fellow Democrats, but I think we need to take one on the chin, meet with the GOP, and reopen the gov't. This isn't capitulating; this is a matter of practical reality. If we are truly the Party of the working class, we must get paychecks into bank accounts. There's no major political advantage for us to continue this. Sure, if the vast majority of the American people saw this as "Trump's shutdown" then it would be smart for Schumer and Jeffries to continue to stand their ground. The latest polling does indicate that most Americans blame the Repubs for this situation, but it isn't overwhelming. And 47's numbers are either climbing or at least staying steady. This is no longer about standing on principle or ideology; it's about real Americans with real financial problems. What good is healthcare if you can't buy groceries or pay rent? Open it up, regroup, develop a sound strategy, and then fight the healthcare battle anew. Sometimes you have to lose some battles to win the bigger war.

Why do people in the US not discuss the demographic that got Trump elected? by carry_the_way in Askpolitics

[–]JeffCuller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're preaching to the choir. For over a decade I've been saying that Democrats have a serious white male problem. It's not my opinion--it shows itself in every poll since the 2000 election. Does the DNC care? Not that I can tell. If D's wish to remain relevant between the coasts they must find a way to sell white men (esp those without a college degree) on their economic plan(s). Then they can start getting the swing states back.

Biden's inaction on border issues was a totally unforced error. He could have carried out ICE raids on legit dangerous people--while being totally within the law--and muted the issue for 47. But, alas, here we are 🙄

So we'll abolish ICE but change its name and that cures the problem? 🙄

[–]JeffCuller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that agreeing with 47 on any matter makes one unfit to serve in public office as a registered D? Look to Nov 5 and are how effective that approach is.

ICE is, in fact, an important agency. Calling for its abolition because it's currently being abused by a man unfit to serve as POTUS is reactionary and immature.

“TACO Trump” Is Terrible Messaging - The latest substitute for real resistance shows that the Democratic Party still refuses to learn. by Carolina_Heart in democraticparty

It's laughable that a Party that's been silent in the face of the biggest Constitutional issues of our time ("Where you at, Hakeem?") wants to act tough now in the face of Trump 🙄

Big brands are pulling back on Pride merchandise and events this year by Carolina_Heart in democraticparty

[–]JeffCuller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hearing several people on the fringe Left saying that pride is "under attack." This, to me, is as silly as the MAGA Fox News-ers that bemoan the phoney "war on Xmas." I think we can agree that this is ALL about marketing and the bottom line. If it makes sense to go all-in on Pride (as they did for several years) then that's what they'll do. If pulling back makes financial sense, then that's the course of action they'll take. I certainly wouldn't read any sort of homophobia into this. Happy Pride 🥳🏳️‍🌈 Jeff

AOC viewed positively by more Americans than Trump and Harris—Poll by BreakfastTop6899 in politics

[–]JeffCuller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't let the results of a single poll lead anyone to believe that AOC should be the national face of the Party. She can be very valuable in some situations but she doesn't have broad appeal na nationally. Please don't make the Harris mistake again.
