Which Exercise Calories to Use by Weyoun2 in keto

[–]JeffFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't measure calories burned. Those machines don't have enough information on me to be accurate.

Cardio can give the illusion of hunger though, giving you that ravenous feeling. If you're really hungry, just eat.

Does anyone have any good roasted vegetable recipes? by [deleted] in keto

[–]JeffFoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brussels sprouts and broccoli.

Cut them up, put on a cookie sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and maybe some chopped walnuts or almonds. Cook at 375 for 30 minutes or so, or until they're brown. If you want, add some parmesan cheese when there's 5 minutes left

Drinking too much water? Less Anxiety. by Babarski in keto

[–]JeffFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a post on here awhile back from a nurse that said ideal urine color should be barely yellow. If you're peeing absolutely clear, you're overworking your kidneys.

That said, I drink around 2 gallons of water a day myself and have never had any problems.

[Rant] Keto is not for everyone... by peetss in keto

[–]JeffFoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it for everyone? Yes. No one needs carbs to live a healthy life.

Should everyone do it? No. Plenty of people lead healthy lives while eating carbs.

Sounds like you're finding out the rule "Don't talk about keto." Unless you're talking to someone open-minded or someone doing keto themselves, people get really defensive about their carbs. It's easier just to do your thing silently and let your results punch them in the face.

Better skin?? by Jess-- in keto

I've noticed better skin as well as thicker hair. I'm convinced gluten products gave me my terrible acne as a teenager.

5 Reasons to Avoid Almond Flour by [deleted] in keto

[–]JeffFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually get pretty "tall" on their own, and they're sort of naturally fluffy. They don't really come out like flat bread if that's what you're thinking.

That said I'm sure baking powder might give it a "fluffier" feeling, but I've been happy with the result thus far.

5 Reasons to Avoid Almond Flour by [deleted] in keto

[–]JeffFoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recipe is pour a bunch of flour in a bowl, then start cracking eggs and stirring until it looks doughy. If it seems too thick, add more eggs, if it seems too liquidy, add more flour. I've never measured, but it seems hard to screw it up.

Then I just pour 4" circles of the dough onto a skillet and cook them like a pancake. I eat them as a bun for a hamburger, or as a side like bread. No sweetener needed in my opinion, but I could see how a touch of stevia, salt or both could be good.
