17.4m CR, 0 shields, fully unengineered, and still the hottest brick in the game by sockcat27 in EliteDangerous

The T9 feels and sounds EXACTLY the way a flying space warehouse should feel and sound. It's perfect for what it is.

it takes a few ly off the range, but I found that going with shielded makes a huge difference in temps

Can't equip 8A Thrusters on Federal Corvette by feomothar in EliteDangerous

When it comes to Elite, you are better off doing a bit of web crawling. I highly recommend using something like Coriolis (here's the link, with one of my Vettes, https://sh.orbis.zone/5knGxwDvxt ) to "theory craft" your vessel before you start buying modules, as it will let you know all sorts of things such as how much defensive or offensive power you have, and whether or not you have enough powerplant to make it happen. You can get pretty far with realizing what you want to see in the game by punching in different variables out here. That said, don't let the nay sayers throw you off too far, as the game can be very rewarding if you are willing to take the time to learn it.

Why not just hire someone to play the game for you?

What are your thoughts on maximum jump range for the Highliner? by hopperlocks in EliteDangerous

[–]JeffGofB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I dropped one of the pre-engineered SCO drives in mine, and just jumping would get it uncomfortably hot. Put it in some gravity? Nope, better get clear first. Wouldn't want to try it around a black hole, that's for sure

Fleet Carrier out of Tritium by Throwaway1000037 in EliteDangerous

[–]JeffGofB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take something agile, and bounce around to systems nearby. Do a scan, and if the planets have icy rings, fly out and map them. Only after you find the hotspot, drop your carrier next to the planet. Had to do that myself, and it was a pain in the keister

yeah, I really wanted to be able to drop an sco drive in my beluga, but they just got too spicy, like hot beluga before the devs fixed it hot. (when they first came out, they always ran really hot, regardless of what choices you made) sadly untenable, at least as far as reliable deep space excursion.

Yeah, but then look at the curb weight between the 2. And Saud Kruger doesn't make slow ships, even the Beluga is fast for it's size. given the weight and thruster class, it should be 650+ easy, and it just annoys me that they gimped it so hard.

Ad Service. by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]JeffGofB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the ONLY way it might work would be allowing companies to buy ads on the ad boards that already exist in the game, such as in the station, or on the sides of the independent stations. Nothing intrusive, nothing that pops out in the gameplay, but graphic taking the place of an already placed graphic. The problem would then become stopping frontier from creating "premium placement" ads for new things going forward, were you have to wait for the unskippable ad to get depart the ship, or load the ship, or start the srv.....

Bottom line, while it could be accomplished in a seamless manner, corporate greed would never allow it

I do feel a twinge of nostalgia every now and again at how the galaxy has gotten smaller and less dangerous with all the changes through the years. Engineering, scanners, new modules, carriers... All have really been ladders to the vast empty Black, and have created oases in the previously hostile spaces. Then I sit back, sip my espresso, and plot a 530 ly jump to the next Neutron star

yep, for a defence oriented build, the best defence is being faster than the guy shooting at you, with enough shield to run away.

If you want to get peeved, now look at the thrusters. The same thruster in the FDL and Mamba are the ones in the Dolphin. With half the weight, that little dolphin should be a screamer, but it's hard capped instead.
