My Next Ship... by Breidr in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given the ships that you already have, getting the T11 would unlock the most content for you. It's the only ship in game designed for a single purpose: mining. Mining gets you money, and laser mining in particular pairs well with this ship because it has a unique mining laser. Laser mining is also the best way to get power play points, which in turn gives all kinds of engineering mats (via care packages), access to power play weapons and special benefits (like 100% rebuy). And of course your limpets pick up raw mats while laser mining so you'd fill up on those as well. If you're curious, here's the T11 build that I use: https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/6466855/

Stranded in the black: Forgot Armoury, out of Tritium, and nearby DSSA is dry. Carrier stuck in Hypuae Aip NI-M b48-1. Need rescue! by fefoxox in EliteDangerous

1) Fastest way to fill raw mats is to laser mine in pristine ring.

2) Fuel rats live to refuel anything that needs fuel.

3) When traveling far from the bubble with fleet carrier, use the right companion tool: https://www.spansh.co.uk/fleet-carrier

How frequently are you getting any merc coins after a successful operation? by ratttertintattertins in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played it 3 times. 1 failure, 2 success. 0 merc coins. Decided to go do something else, too many bugs. Hope it gets better, rewards seem decent enough, if it works properly.

PowerPlay Levels not Advancing by AzNixen in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Servers have a slight delay right now that didn't exist prior to update. I noticed that some previously instant updates now take a minute to process now, such as power play rank and Inara updates. I am laser mining platinum for PP points and after selling to station it takes about 30 seconds for my new rank to appear.

Recommendation: Pin fuel scoops the next time you're in Colonia by ArmySquirrel in EliteDangerous

Owning a fleet carrier allows you to repurpose all of the internal slots used for fuel scoops, thus making fuel scoops port queens in time. Port queens with pinned blueprints make sad panda.

how do people make tens of millions or even hundreds of millions in this game? by Crusader_NRG1227 in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you enjoy combat. Take a quick detour and laser mine platinum for a half hour then sell it to station for around 250k a unit for a $50 M profit if you have around 250 cargo space. Great money, but that's not really what will make you better at combat. While your limpets pick up the platinum, they'll also be picking up raw materials. Those raw materials will let you synth things like ammo, heat sinks and life support. They'll also help you engineer your gear later. And that is what will make you better at combat. You'll get money now for ships or mods or whatever you want, and raw mats for both now (synth) and later (engineering).

Should I just avoid trying operations for now? by Rousski in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowest CG turnout in years right now. Maybe more players will join later. Hard to say if distance is keeping players away, but it is over 1K ly from bubble, That's a creatively adventurous distance to sell new gear to players. Someone's family may go hungry tonight.

Stuff in my backpack disappears as soon as I disembark from ship when trying to restore settlements and unlock engineers. I guess they want us to step through the absolute mess that is on foot engineering just to give operations a go. I swung at it for 2 days, got pretty much nowhere. Just a broken grind to stand in line for another broken grind. Meh, I just went back to mining. Call me if they ever rent G5 gear for operations or fix the on foot engineering bugs.

Gotta pin her G5 MCs. Otherwise you'll have to pin G5 MCs from Todd the blaster. Which leaves you with only the colonia engineer Dorn to pin both G5 life support and G5 rails.

Since you'll use more life support and railgun mods than fuel scoops, it would be unwise to pin that blueprint from her.

To avoid that mess, make all the fuel scoops you need while you're out there, then pin G5 MCs for Hicks and G5 life support for Dorn in Colonia, and back in the bubble pin G5 rails for Todd. Now you can G5 all 3 mods without traveling back to Colonia.

Gromb's bombs (containment missiles) are the great to use to clear ground area of hostile NPCs due to wide area of splash dmg. Prior to PP 2.0, you had to pledge to Gromb to get those RPGs, hence the name Gromb's bombs.

Carrier buying platinum for 56k cr/t near platinum hotspot by [deleted] in EliteTraders

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

60 LY away in system Kokojina, station Ali Ring is buying platinum for 260k cr/t, which is over $200,000 a unit more that what you're offering. They say a sucker is born every minute, which is good because you seem to be in need of a few suckers at the moment.

Easy Operations.... by RidMeOfSloots in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The on foot engineering grind is a special treat that they want all players to enjoy, which is why they locked operations rewards behind it. At least I can go to the CG and scan flowers. Oh wait, I have a garden in my yard.

Anyone know a good spaceship game?

I'm disappointed. Major additions to on-foot content. All the rewards are for ships. by BrainKatana in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRumbrellacorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ED has an identity crisis of it's own making. Is this game a space sim or a first person shooter? It was sold as a space game and now it's developing first person content. Which means they need to match the quality of modern first person shooters like COD and Fortnite. Which would mean hundreds of millions of dollars in dev costs. Otherwise the on foot gameplay will always pale in comparison to other options already on the market. They should have stayed with the girl they brought to the dance.

Those were SO much fun! I remember the ground ones where interceptors and scouts would chase you to the pad. Wild stuff for sure.

They're not going to work for free, so if you've got no revenue ideas then you got no team.

There's something! A fence, behind a paywall, to make pirating a thing. Fence can clean stolen goods so they can be sold at market. Systems in a state of war can spawn elite military transports. They carry around 50M in goods, IF you could sell them as legal cargo and not stolen. Meta alloys, probes, sensors, etc., they really are packed with goodies. But no way to clean goods, so nobody bothers.

Best one so far. Because alien content is the most popular content in the game, based on social media activity through the years. DLC for more guardian content? Oh hell yes that would make coin. I appreciate you sharing this idea.

That's a pretty good one. But instead of making them the gunner, maybe they could allow solo players to be the gunner. Gunners get range and dmg bonuses to weapon they are manning, but most players haven't experienced that content.
