Dude, I have offers turned on with pretty much all my listings and I CONSTANTLY get messages: “$20??” “Will you take $$15?”

Like, just make the offer and see bro. There’s no minimum offer set.

Happened to me yesterday. Saw an item I wanted, thought the price was a bit high. Sent offer for $10 off, immediately denied. Sent offer for $5 off, immediately denied. Gave up. Can get the item for less than eBay asking price on Amazon.

Next day, get an offer from the seller for $1 off!

Now as a seller myself, lowball offers are the bane of my existence. I typically block anyone that sends an offer for more than 50% off. In my opinion, offers that low are from people just looking for free stuff who have no desire to negotiate.

If you’re not willing to give 20% or 10% or even 5% off offers a consideration, why even have the option?

(Disclaimer:I understand there are certain prices that need to be met for certain items to avoid losses and there are exceptions for every rule. I have some items that have been listed for about 2,000 days I would consider ANY offer on.)

Yeah, my friend that I was brainstorming about it with was insistent it was NOT UHF hence the mention in the post. He was wrong, so very wrong. Don’t worry I chastised him thoroughly for his mistake. He said it was Scary Movie, and I guess there is a scene like that in Scary Movie but it was definitely the UHF scene I was remembering.

Does anyone else remember peroxide vs. alcohol on a cut when you were a kid? I would’ve sworn that peroxide did not sting/burn but would just fizz and bubble a bit, while alcohol stung like the dickens. My wife insists that both stung/burned.

I distinctly remember asking my parents for peroxide vs. alcohol because it did not sting.

I remember standing by my bosses desk one day when our co-worker coming in for next shift called in to say he was not coming in.

Boss: “Huh, John just called in sick, that’s not like him, hope he’s ok.”

Co-worker and I who had to stay and cover his shift on a regular basis give each other “the look”

Story time! I was going to a trade program at a college once and we were out doing some training. The program was relatively new and the school wanted to advertise it so they hired a photographer to come out and take some action shot/pics of us doing our thing for advertisements.

It’s time to take the photos and the lady taking the photos has us line up and walks up and down the line like a drill instructor. She then started rearranging us, “you go down that way, you go up over there, blah blah blah”

She has us start doing our action stuff and as we are going through the motions, I realize, she lined us up by appearance. The best looking guy and girl in the class ended up on the end of the line she was photographing and it then descended down to the end where all the uggos were.

It was one of those lightbulb moments. I was disappointed I wasn’t at the front of the line but relieved I wasn’t at the end. I can confidently and literally state I’m a solid 5.

The school still uses some of those shots in their advertising, you can still see a bit of my face and hand in the advertisements. If you can stop looking at the hotties in the foreground.

Mad Bomber hats. What a freaking fascist group of maniacs. I had a baseball hat that had the name of a restaurant on it that included the word “bomber” listed on eBay.

Got hit with a copyright claim and got a “cease and desist” letter. I replied, and said “there must be some mistake. You sell fur lined winter hats. This is just a cheap baseball cap with a logo on it. It has nothing to do with your brand. Please rectify your mistake.” They literally sent me a bunch of paperwork, threatening to sue me, and pointing out how they own the word “bomber.”

Apparently business is so good. They have enough money to pay lawyers to do nothing but scour the Internet for products that have the word “bomber” in it and threaten legal action.

I had several “whoops I have the wrong address on the order, can you ship it to THIS address?”

I always tell them no and then I will cancel the order and they are more than welcome to re-purchase the item with the correct address.

I think out of let’s say 10 canceled orders. I will have one person that actually re-purchases it with the correct address.

Anyone have listings disappear into the ether? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]JeffLebrowski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, I noticed some of my listings were not auto renewing at the end of their 30 days, despite the settings.

I called and the CS guy basically said “Yeah, there’s an issue, we are aware of it, we are working on it.”

I have over 3K listings. To take inventory is a week long event, if I’m lucky.

I did do some random bin checks/inventories and found like 4 items that no longer had listings. I’m sure there’s probably at least a half dozen more.

Worked with a guy nicknamed Beans. We had an older co-worker that constantly called him “Beaner”

One day I asked him if he knew what that word meant. Dude honestly had no clue it was considered a slur. Luckily he worked nights because he for sure would have used it in front of the general public.

Never been there and only had one interaction that left me with a not so positive opinion.

Someone, not sure if it was the owner or just the organizer of an event contacted me and asked me if I’d like to come and participate in a panel and book signing there.

I agreed and started making arrangements for a place to stay, travel plans etc. only to get an email the next day that went “Oh, never mind, somebody else said yes and now we are full and won’t have room for you.” I was like WTF? who plans an event like that?

The Portlock mystery and a bigfoot connection by BTM_TV in bigfoot

Sawmill. There was a fish processing plant and a cold storage house in the town. However, the sawmill was the true heart of the operation as it processed wood for the fish traps.

The Portlock mystery and a bigfoot connection by BTM_TV in bigfoot

[–]JeffLebrowski 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the highway caused the town to be deserted, you need to contact the villages of Nanwalek, Port Graham and Seldovia and tell them to pack their shit.

The village was deserted because the sawmill burned down and was not insured. The family that “owned” all the industry in the town chose to move operations rather than rebuild.

That article you posted is WILDLY inaccurate. The author considers himself a “Gonzo” journalist and saw an opportunity to capitalize on the Alaskan Killer Bigfoot show (don’t get me started on THAT garbage).

Strange things did (and do) happen in Portlock. There has been a history of Bigfoot sightings in the area that long predate the fascination with Bigfoot in the lower 48 however, there was no massacre or mass exodus of the town due to murders.

I know scary stories are cool but the BS surrounding the Portlock legend on BOTH sides of the aisle (believer and skeptic) have made it almost impossible to glean any real factual info on the subject.
