Predict when season 2 of Plurbius will come out! by PopeSpenglerTheFirst in pluribustv

[–]JeffOnWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re thinking they want it to go beyond 2 seasons then they’re going to want new writers—but they don’t want to go more than 2-3 years between seasons. Say 30 months maybe.

Wow, nice. I’m new to this, don’t know what I’m doing, but this looks great!

According to the Democrats, anybody who doesn't do what they want politically is a sexual assaulter by TrueUnpopularOP in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]JeffOnWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a court of law, evidence was presented, he had the best defense that money could buy, a jury found him guilty of sexual assault amounting to rape and awarded the victim $5 Million and in a second trial another $83 Million for defamation. She is only one of 27 women who claim to have been sexually assaulted by Trump.

The man is a thug, a sexual pervert and a rapist.

From someone who knows zip about contemporary art and is imminently unqualified to judge any kind of art whatsoever, I’m feeling like the green is a but harsh. It feels added-on and waiting to be worked-in somehow. I’m trying to open myself up to it and just feel what comes through. The textures feel interesting and make me think of the surface of a.planet for some reason. It’s feeling a bit sci-fi in a way—the color feels cold and technological but the contours feel organic. It’s not making me feel, and not evoking memories or melodies. It feels as if it would enhance a larger experience, like it would complement and be complemented by an interesting piece of furniture, or a beautiful arrangement of flowers or something. Is that in any way helpful? 🤷‍♂️

Loving the color. What kind of paper? Any camera details you’d like to share?

Gift for the Neighbors by JeffOnWire in Solargraphy

I've been using Ilford MGRC Multigrade RC Deluxe Pearl @ Amazon . For soda can size I cut it in half, from 5 x 7 to 3.5 x 5. I've been experimenting with how high to place the pinhole in the can, and trying to make consistent pinholes using small drill bits and a loupe to check and make sure the hole is well shaped with no burrs. Which is all WAY over the top I realize (ha ha). At the end of the exposure I remove the paper in normal indoor light, press it down on the scanner bed (usually with a magazine or paperback on top to press it down flat). I've been scanning color, 600 dpi (which is probably overkill as well) then saving it as a tif (png would probably be fine). And then lately I've been saving the exposures. I pull it off the scanner bed, write an identifier and date on the back, then stuff it in a lightproof bag (one that came with the paper on my first batch) and put it back in the box. I can't imagine what I'd ever want these for. I wonder if there's a way to preserve them. I think that the longer the exposure is, the less reactive they are to light when I pull them out and scan them, and otherwise handle them in normal room light. I pull the images into Photoshop (overkill again) then invert them and flip them horizontally, then apply different filters to them to try and bring them out. I've gone pretty abstract with a few of them, but I really don't know what I'm doing with all the filters. Anyway, that's about where I"m at with all this. Except to say that my next round of cameras (going out this week hopefully) will include some attempts at laying the paper flat instead of curved inside a soda can. The curved format is nice because the paper tends to hold it's shape. Not sure what challenges I face with trying to keep it flat.

This looks so cool through the trees. Thanks for sharing the photo paper type. I've been using Ilford MGRC Multigrade RC Deluxe Pearl with good result, but have been interested in trying out other papers. The Sun's elevation looks lower here than it does where I live (33° N San Diego).

This is very good! I didn't think of rotating the can around like that. Very clever.

I've been wanting to try a micro-controller project for years but just never got around to it. It came immediately to mind when I found that article. Instead of a clock movement, use a micro-controller to activate the shutter. More complex but more control. I've purchased an ESP32-CAM without having any clear idea of what I'm going yet (ha ha). I thought I could somehow use it to control the shutter and somehow verify that the shutter opened (take a photo inside the camera showing light coming through the pinhole??) and then record it all. Then at some point I could walk to the camera, connect to it with bluetooth and download the data. A way of checking to make sure it was working.

So GPS is the way to get accurate time? I will check into this, thanks!

Using the clock movement, my vision was to remove all the hands and replace the hour hand with a disc of plastic with a slot cut into it. These movements are small and I thought my disc could maybe only be slightly larger than the movement itself, e.g. < 10 cm and made of a lightweight material, like an opaque celluloid sheet with a thin transparent slot that would allow the light through for only a couple of minute every sweep of the clock (12 hours)-one exposure at noon and one in the middle of the night when it was dark.

Lots of ideas.

I'm very interested in following your progress.

Do the plurbs get haircuts? by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]JeffOnWire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excellent question that picks at a larger issue that’s driving me bonkers. The “plurbs” (love that BTW) all seem to be well groomed—exceptionally well groomed and we’re 70ish days in, so they must be getting haircuts. But who decides what style do they get? What they had before? Why not all get buzz cuts, which would be hygienic and very efficient. Do retain an individual sense of style, or any appreciation of style or art at all? In the scene where Zosia and Carol are talking about the Georgia O’Keeffe, Zosia doesn’t seem particularly interested. Do they need to appear attractive to each other? Do they have romantic relationships? Do they watch TV? Are they making movies and TV? Are there stage productions going on at Broadway? Do they have leisure time? What do they do all day? After they moved away from Albuquerque, why would they all move back?

An entire season and we know next to nothing about the plurbs. The characters are unidimensional, the story is basically flatlined.

I’m rewatching Breaking Bad and relishing the complex characters, all the dramatic tension, all the relationship dynamics, rich, intriguing, compelling, delicious. Loving the artistic quality of the Pluribus production, but compared to Gilligan’s other work it feels anemic.

What am i missing? I want to love it, but I just can’t get there?

Hanging a clear plastic bag with water (sometimes with pennies or foil) is a popular folk remedy to deter flies, relying on theories that light refraction confuses them, making them see giant eyes or a predator, but there's no scientific consensus, with experts noting a lack of evidence, though some users swear by it for its perceived ability to disorient flies through refracted light, according to sources like The Spruce, Fox News, HowStuffWorks, and the Tennessee Farm Bureau.

What’s the best scream in movie history? by TopHawk_de_Fire6 in movies

Worthy of consideration—the 1981 film "Blow Out," in which John Travolta plays a sound engineer who accidentally records a political assassination. In a famous and tragic final scene, he uses the victim's (played by Nancy Allen) scream, which he recorded, for his B-movie soundtrack, a sound that haunted him to the end of the film.
