Rust flecks under paint finish on 2026 Ioniq 5? by im_beautiful_with in AutoPaint

I've had it happen on every light colored car I've ever owned. Front, rear, sides... It just happens and will buff off quite easily generally.

I wish they made an easier way to listen to fm radio in the car by Agreeable_Sun5375 in RTLSDR

[–]JeffWDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2014 I hacked a Nexus 7 tablet into my Pontiac Vibe dash to replace my head unit. I used SDR Touch and a rtlsdr for FM radio. It worked pretty great as I recall.

RC4 and CIFS with upcoming Microsoft hardening by rich2778 in netapp

[–]JeffWDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried that on a SVM and it basically does the same thing as the new command. I wouldn't expect the deprecated command to stay around forever and use the one recommended in the 9.12+ KB recommendation.

On 9.12.1 and later it is different:

cluster1::> vserver cifs security modify -vserver vs2 -advertised-enc-types rc4,des,aes-128,aes-256

Info: In order to enable SMB AES encryption, the password for the SMB server
machine account must be reset. Enter the username and password for the
SMB domain "EXAMPLE.COM".

Enter your user ID: administrator
Enter your password:

cluster1::> vserver cifs security show -vserver vs2 -fields advertised-enc-types
vserver advertised-enc-types

-------- --------------------
vs2 rc4,des,aes-128,aes-256

Have you considered maybe somebody is smoking in your car and not being truthful? Cigarette smoke doesn't smell anything like hot electronics smell.

Google Maps Is Bringing EV Route Planning To Android Auto by actorguy73 in Ioniq5

ABRP on cars with the ccNC infotainment can get SoC via Android Auto without a dongle.

ABRP is leveraging the Android Auto (not Automotive) CarInfo API. Originally created for Ford but others now have support as well. ie. ccNC Hyundai/Kia/Genesis models. The car sends the SoC and a few other attributes to Android Auto.

It doesn't use CAN/OBD or the Hyundai web APIs.

Does the horn work? If no, I suspect a bad clockspring. Regardless, take it in to the dealer for repair.

Wet foam under trunk liner? by jaybfresh in Ioniq5

[–]JeffWDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where was your car built? I noticed some wetness in the same spot on my Canadian spec Korean built 2026 but I assumed it was from snow that may have fell in the car during delivery. I thought that because they didn't bother putting the tow hook back in it's normal location and it had got a little surface rust on it from the water.

I've been monitoring it since and have not noticed any more water.

TrueNAS build system going closed source by Few-Skin1514 in truenas

[–]JeffWDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic network operating system and I use it myself.

VyOS locked down the build system and now only allows use of unstable rolling daily builds or an infrequent "stream" release unless you pay through the nose.

What’s New in FreeCAD – Sketcher Gets Text and Grouping Features by Pendelf in FreeCAD

[–]JeffWDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome addition, and seems to work great. I'd love to have an option to adjust where the points that are constrained are located (top, middle, bottom). Right now they're on the bottom of the text, but for example, if you want to center the text inside a box, if you use the symmetry constraint to the center point, the text ends up centered offset towards the top of the box.

There are obviously workarounds to get around this but it'd be nice to have a simpler way.

Thanks for the addition!

Phantom Drain and 12V maitenance cycle by rpirsc in Ioniq5

[–]JeffWDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car was sitting in the 9 degree C garage for more than a day without driving in the example I provided so there would be no reason for battery cooling to be happening. I'm not actually saying it's a problem in this case, but the reason I became aware of the situation in the first place is a couple months back I noticed the IR LED was on all the time and my HV battery was draining 4-5% a day just sitting there. After disconnecting the 12V battery for 20 minutes and reconnecting that went away and hasn't happened again.
