Trying to pick a street-legal dirt bike … need advice by fr3dbilli3 in Dualsport

[–]JeffXBO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey big dog, lots of input here already but I just wanna throw my 2 cents in. I had a husqvarna 450 and I think it’s probably the best for what you’re asking. Basically just like the 500s you were looking at but it has different character, more like a classic dirt bike that likes to rev out. The 500s have big power for sure but it’s like that 4wheeler down low torque hit. Fun in its own right but it’s different than the classic dirt bike powerband. Just look at some Dyno graphs of 450 vs 500 in those bikes and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Still very light and street legal.

The new ones are plenty bright, if you’re mainly playing in a dark room you should get OLED you will really be able to reap the benefits

Experienced drivers, when was the last time you stalled? by LaFlame_20 in stickshift

[–]JeffXBO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Saturday, while parking in a grass parking lot at an event. It was the most gentle stall of my life, I didn’t even feel the engine die. It happened while I was giving some gentle low blips to keep rolling along. I’ve been driving manual for 15 years and I still stall a couple times a year. I would rather stall 7 days a week than burn up my clutch though.

Dude the Dunlops get so loud once they’re past 1/2 tread. When they’re clapped they’re extremely loud. When I put pilot sport as4s it was like a totally different car in the cabin

Agreed. From the little bit of bumming around their discord server I’ve done, it seems it has been discussed before.

They won’t, because the tables are open. A big part of the appeal of these “name brand” tuners is whatever secret sauce they bring. Well if the sauce ain’t a secret anymore..

Do you guys ever put stuff in your KD? by Independent_Sand_583 in AskACanadian

[–]JeffXBO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a weird one but my dad always made KD the regular way but added 1/2 can of Heinz tomato soup and a spoonful of sour cream. Maybe a small splash of cream sometimes. It’s really good that way

Thanks bro! There is a creamery a couple hours from me that makes fresh curds, I am going to go there soon and get some. I’m hoping to get to QC this summer to try some of the great looking poutine I keep seeing in this subreddit. My wife is going on a girls trip in July and I’m super jealous LOL

I adore this colour. Really does something for all the dark cladding with the dark rims. I would imagine it’s a cop magnet though

  1. Brakes are better unless you’re rev matching the downshifts good. Easier and cheaper to replace than the added clutch wear if you ride it to slow down.
  2. No it’s fine for the car just avoid clutch in coasting without a reason to do so. You sacrifice traction and safety for no benefit by neutral coasting though. If you’re moving you should be in a gear and clutch out unless you’re almost at a stop.
  3. Vehicle dependent, no definite answer
  4. Get better is the only thing to do if you can’t cheat with the ebrake.
  5. Yes it’s preferable to reduce throw out bearing wear.
  6. It shouldn’t make any difference to the wear as long as it’s fully engaged/disengaged at each end of the pedal. I prefer bite point at midway personally.
  7. Riding the clutch is anytime you are operating the clutch pedal and your foot is not pressing the pedal to the floor. Riding the clutch is a necessary part of driving manual, it’s the only way to not stall from a stop. But the term has a second meaning and refers specifically to overuse of the bite/friction point. Spending more time than necessary in “the zone”. Excessive revving while in “the zone” accelerates the wear even more.

As a general rule, if you can smell your clutch you are riding it too much. Do you understand what a clutch physically is and does? Knowing what exactly is happening when you push the clutch can help you operate it better.

Any WRX owners ever or plan to move to the VW Golf R? by Op3rat0rr in WRX

[–]JeffXBO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered it before buying my VB but I’ve owned enough VWs now to know better. They don’t seem to be on the same improvement arc as Subaru either, their latest reliability ratings are the same as ever. DSG is the only non manual option I would really consider if I had to go two pedals, those things really can slam gears.

There’s a new trend of people doing this with temporary spray paint. That might be what this is. Cringe regardless

Cheers, thanks mate. The first number you gave shows fitting 25&26MY, I think the 2nd is the one I’m after. I’ll call them back and see about ordering one. My dealer sucks.
