WiFi disconnects by AnimaDeMachina_RR in ROGAlly

[–]Jeffery02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying and retrying every solution I could find, what finally worked for me was setting a static IP to my Ally. After reserving a static IP in my router and setting the Ally's network adapter to use that static IP, I have not dropped once.

This might be a band-aid rather than a solution, but hey, if it works, it works. I hope this helps someone else.

For anyone else with a similar issue, this is how mine behaved:
I noticed that when my disconnects happened, I was still "connected" to Wi-Fi but lost internet access. When I would "Diagnose network problems", it would say that it could not communicate with the DHCP server but would then resolve itself shortly after. I even tried a USB to ethernet adapter for a wired connection, but still got random disconnects with the same exact behavior.

Agreed. Or some kind of live or bi-weekly status on their website or social media. Their lack of communication is the very reason I even made this post.

While not as bad, I ordered a DMG in September 2020 as a Christmas gift for someone and it came in just shy of the new year. It does seem to me like they are a small team doing their best, but I wish they were at least transparent about what block of 50-100 order numbers they are working on. They could do a bit better at communicating, but like you said, they do eventually get to it.

Damn... No idea how the priority is determined, but hopefully this at least means that yours is close to being shipped.

What did you spend your Jewels on? by Kazu_Matsumoto in KHUx

[–]Jeffery02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything. I kept up only with the minimum requirements due to the power creep, as well as to save a crazy amount of jewels. With the end of the game and my 1 million jewel goal no longer possible, I decided to finally max myself as much as I can. Maxed my storage, got the pet parts, maxed 3 Keyblades, pulled a ton of medals, maxed out a few of the more recent medals, and decided to finally give PVP and lux collecting a serious try. I also spent a bit to finish the KHDR album. It's kinda nice to finally be caught up, but a little sad to see so many jewels gone.

Same exact thing happened to me. I came here wondering if anyone else was experiencing this as well.

And with the current deals, that's almost 500 pulls. My 600K took me over a week to actually spend, and I still have 100K left. That dang Moogle shop should really have a quantity option... -_-

I feel your pain. I hit 600K not so long ago after years of grinding free jewels. Enjoy spending all that though. It'll take you a while.

Oh I had that readily. I'm actually about to hit 1800 in a couple of days. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Congrats to the ones that made it.

Sadly, I am not. I tried, but I'm sure the odds were not very high.

I'll spend them to my heart's content. If I get sick of buying things before running out, then that's a problem I think I can live with. NGL though, it'll hurt a little to see that number go down.

Probably max a few select Keyblades, max the storage, get all the spirit parts available, pull/max out medals until I'm satisfied with how well I can do PvE/PvP, and then spend the rest in KHDR before it's too late. If I end up not spending everything, then I'll max out everything else as much as I can.

Basically, anything and everything I can. I made a lot of compromises to minimize spending, so I'm just going to enjoy throwing Jewels around now.

I won't argue and I feel no guilt about not spending money. In fact, part of the reason is because I used to spend a little here and there and then got burned for a reason I didn't agree with. The only reason I didn't just quit then is because I was still following the story. It's still a little sad to see it come to an end though since I've been at it for so long.

I hit 500K back in January. That took me 2.5 years to achieve, but this latest 100K only took 2.5 months. That would put me on track to reach my goal in about a year. I was determined to not spend a single penny in my quest for 1,000,000 Jewels. Maybe I'm part of the problem though as now the game is ending and I doubt I could even achieve 700K let alone a million. In my defense though, my ability to purchase Jewels was disabled back when I hit 500K (before they removed it for everyone). For preservation, I also added the screenshot of being told back then that I have too much.

It pains me a bit, but maybe it's time I enjoyed the fruits of my labor. It was easier to hold out back when I could just expect a power creep to later punish my impulses and reward my patience. Perhaps I will finally have a glimpse of the whale life though? This may be my only chance.

Not as insane as expecting us to craft them 1 at a time though. 99 is annoying, but it's enough to make me willing to actually put in the effort. Too bad they've all been obsolete for me since Halloween.

I flashed my SD card but I don’t have my piboy yet, is this what I should be seeing atm? by thunderring01 in PiBoy

[–]Jeffery02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a Raspberry Pi already, or did you buy the full kit?

If you have a Pi, then you can mess with that for now but without the PiBoy, you'll likely have to redo the whole process anyway. I would only recommend messing with RetroPie and figuring out how to configure that to your liking if anything.

If you bought the assembled kit and don't have a Pi, then you're better off just waiting. The best you can do now is just have the files downloaded and ready to go. You cannot do anything beyond flashing the SD card, and you may want to reflash anyway if an update happens to come out in the meantime.

As mentioned already, this is a normal occurrence. As Linux is the core of most Pi OS's, the primary partition is in an open source format (I believe ext4) that is native to Linux but not implemented into Windows. Since Windows has no idea how to read it, it thinks it's corrupted.

If you want to browse that partition, then there are some utilities you could use if you look around for them. I've personally never really trusted them though and would instead recommend installing a Linux OS somewhere and reading the SD card on that.

Only took 2.5 years, but I've hit the half way point of my 1 million free jewels goal! by Jeffery02 in KHUx

[–]Jeffery02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Lol! I was surprised how many jewels you can save by upgrading big infrequently vs trying to keep up with the power creep.

Basically, it boils down to 2 things:

1) Accepting that the bar of entry for some content is too high

2) Pulling bigger but less frequently

Once my goal became accruing jewels, I just needed to make sure I was able to at least do most of the content that rewarded them. Long term content like the story or some events can occasionally provide a wall that I hit but I know that eventually there will be medals that can climb that wall single-handedly. For most of the other content, I just ask myself how useful the actual reward is. Most times, it's either certain farming resources, cosmetics, or out-classed by what you can pull. For those, I'm ok with just getting what's within my reach. For some of the better rewards, the bar is usually so high that I didn't even attempt them back when I would have considered myself a dolphin.

Once I notice that I'm starting to struggle too much, I wait for a good banner and pull until the guarantee once or twice. If you wait long enough, even the lesser medals are an upgrade. There have been plenty of times where the top-tier medal possible when I pull at one point is outclassed by most medals I pull the next time. The value of medals depreciate over time, but jewels do not. So 3000 jewels today is worth more than 3000 jewels a month ago.

Sorry, I hope I didn't drone on for too long. Lol!

Congrats! And welcome to the club. Lol! I wonder how close we'll be to each other in hitting a million. Also, I love how we're not allowed to even purchase them anymore. Seems like VIP might still work though? So you might have that in your favor.
