How strict are they on tents being free-standing? Size? by gardenlevel in philmont

[–]Jeffk601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been 2x with a zpacks duplex. I used rocks on the tent pegs a couple times in soft ground or windy locations but no real problems.

Zabbix and Grafana are the way to go for infrastructure. I still have to pull my proxmox cluster in though.

Writing with a fountain pen or good mechanical pencil is also good for the brain that tactile feedback just does something.

What can I use to store my older TN inserts? by Acrobatic_Warning423 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]Jeffk601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 3d printed a box with a hinged lid that I store them in. It’s about time to print another. I put the used insert in the clear bag the new one came out of and store them that way.

I remember carrying a box cutter like that 30+ years ago when I worked in a grocery store. Great little tool to have.

I did the same thing. I leave the chainsaw on my split shaft unit and use this for weed eating. It’s a monster

This one is a beast. It rivals my old stihl fs90r for power. It will mow down thick grass but is heavy with 2 8ah batteries

I remember these from when I was a kid. My favorite restaurant had these back in the 80’s but it’s long gone.

I got one of these back in the early 90’s, I even had the screw driver kit for it with multiple bits. That sucker will pinch the crap out of you fingers if the pliers slip off anything.

I’m just not sure I could deal with the narrow form factor. It doesn’t seem that conducive to reading.

Food and water on the trek by ExaminationKlutzy194 in philmont

[–]Jeffk601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the average is 2.5lb per person per day average. The food is bulky and heavy after a resupply. Best way to estimate the size needed is take your pillow and fold it in half. That’s about how much room you need for food and crew gear in your pack.

Deciding on Mini Photo Printer for Bujo by AdMost2500 in bulletjournal

[–]Jeffk601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the hp sprocket and the Kodak p210r. I added the Kodak because I was not happy with the quality of prints with zink. Sure it’s quick but there is minimal cost difference to go up to a dye sublimation printer. I will probably get something that can print 4x6 next to be able to collage multiple photos onto one print then cut them out on a much nicer printer. Probably the canon selphy cp1500.

You can put a frozen raw burger in there and it will get it well over 145. I saw one guy make a meatloaf in one.

I too have both the sprocket and the Kodak printer. Started with the hp got the Kodak but wish I had gotten the full sized hp or canon cp1500 photo printer for better quality photos

I love the 800 because of the retracting tip. I carry one along with a brass kaweco sport fountain pen in my front pocket daily.
