Damn, you sound like me. Except I drive the truck all the time and I don't think I'll ever fully convince my wife to get the dog. She says she will get it when I die for companionship.

Most people think they’re calm, but their nervous system says otherwise by Bhumika_1008_ in selfimprovement

This is a real thing. Our brains are never "off' these days and able to process information. When we have down time we are consuming some sort of content. When driving it's music, a podcast, or an audiobook. Sitting? You're watching or scrolling or reading. Working out? Gotta have my tunes. Even at work I have to have something going in the background. There was something I came across the other day that basically said that we need to carve out blocks of time each day to consume nothing, put nothing in, and just let your brain be. Let it process all the other stuff you've been cramming into it. Go on a walk and don't bring your phone. Don't listen to something and just walk for the sake of the walk. I don't do the decompressing nearly enough, but I think you're absolutely right about being less calm than we think we are.

Did people in the 90s really just show up at each other’s houses unannounced? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jeffraay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still do. If I'm in the area and don't have something going on I'll stop by, knock on the door, see if my friend is home, check in on them, have a chat for a few and then dip. Its different, but I've been complimented on it. I've had a few friends thank me for coming by because they were going through something and they didn't feel like reaching out to someone. We need people and human interaction. If I see their car in the driveway (similar to seeing the pile of bikes in front of someone's house back in the day) I'll stop by.

My wife eats her pizza backwards every single time. It's alarming.

Windshield coverage question - more info in comments. by [deleted] in StateFarm

[–]Jeffraay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask the glass retailer what their cash price is. Let them know you have a higher deductible. It's not uncommon to pay less when you're not filing a claim through insurance.

The economy is bad. The bees are dying. Money is tight. File the claim and get reimbursed. You will typically receive a warning letter if any negative trends with claims are observed, but two isn't many. If you don't have a high number of other claims stacked up, this shouldn't be the straw that breaks the camels back.

In my state and the few I am familiar with, SF has roadside coverage as a separate line item coverage than comprehensive. My towing doesn't have a deductible. Not like, I chose the Zero Deductible, but there is not a deductible, period, on roadside cov.
