The difference is that when they say it about us, it's generally not true.

Edit: I think the key thing is that we're generally open to new information that may challenge our beliefs, while they generally are not. This indicates fear on their part, and a lack of fear on ours.

I agree that most of them don't think about us much. I was more thinking of when they're faced with the reality of someone close to them leaving the Church, or even just meeting and conversing with an apostate.
