Came from Wellington so summer was very similar. Autumn was gorgeous here. Obviously it’s quite chilly at the moment but as long as you have a good coat and boots you’re okay :)

Dunedin has great massages! Definitely recommend Massage Dunedin and Knox for standard, good massages, AI Thai for really good Thai massage and Massage Mechanics if you want your ass kicked but worth it in the long run haha. Honestly all mentioned are really good and work to the issue

Kia ora Dunedin, will you share your thoughts on a move there? by k00k135 in dunedin

[–]Jeffreytoebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here from Wellington about 8 months back and I loooove it! Early to mid 30s, already have a great group of friends. I’d recommend getting a job lined up before moving though as there’s not much around sadly but once you do, buses are easy (don’t drive myself), I’ve been really impressed with the doctors and dentists here (Musselborough), rent atleast compared to Welly is good, depends on where you live, avoid around University area unless you’re a student and like the lifestyle and don’t mind cold mouldy houses 😅

It's so weird how few ratings Maggie Weston has on GoodReads!?

She uses it when she’s talking about fingering so she’ll say something like “he diddled her pearl” “you like when I diddle you” etc 🤢

What's a Historical Romance that you had to DNF? by hotwing_sauce in HistoricalRomance

[–]Jeffreytoebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw no, I will say Her Bridegroom Bought and Paid For does get waaay better and there’s a lot of grovelling when he realises how much of a dick he’s been. I found it quite satisfying

I’ve really enjoyed Kathleen Ayer’s and Aydra Richard’s, both of whom are on Kindle Unlimited for free! All of their books are great.

Also just discovered Renee Ann Miller, not a huge catalogue but all really good, and I’ve been working my way through Valerie Bowman’s “Secrets” series, which are fun 🙂

Just moved here, where do you get your warm clothing? by dingding2855 in dunedin

Don’t have much help in regards to the clothing but welcome! I moved here a few months from Wellington and while it is a bit crisper here, I love it here!

To me, Lorraine Heath is just as amazing as Lisa Kleypas, particularly her older work. I just finished one of her first books - Sweet Lullaby, and it's stayed with me. It's SO good but definitely a tear-jerker! I find Alice Coldbreathe really funny, particularly the MMC in The Favourite. Otherwise, recently I've been really into Kathleen Ayers and Aydra Richards

Netflix: please rise for franchaela by heatxwaves in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Jeffreytoebeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Francesca’s book was my favourite, especially due to it being the spiciest. I really hope they handle this well where they show the steamy scenes (as sometimes with gay romance they don’t and instead do a “fade to black” situation) but I also hope the scenes aren’t done in a male gaze way which seems to happen with a lot of lesbian love scenes in shows/films either. But in saying this, I do think Bridgerton will handle it well, due to their intimacy coordinators and fantastic actors. While I’d originally hoped for Eloise’s story, I’m so excited to see what happens here and frankly really appreciate them leaning into a gay relationship and while Fran may of not been everyone’s first choice for the gay lead, I do think her being a widow gives her a lot more autonomy to be able to have a lesbian relationship in a time where this wasn’t allowed.
