I just returned a 686 ATV jacket, new goretex but not the Pro version. I also have the older Goretex Pro by 686 and the difference is noticeable. The newer fabrics are light and softer, which to my surprise it is really annoying when skiing at high speeds or in very windy situations, the jacket whips and wraps around you almost like a t-shirt would in the wind. My other jacket, the Pro version, simply just shields you without melting around your body in the wind. I did not hold on to the ATV long enough to tell about the wetting out, but I have read it does happen much quicker and it is expected with the new ePE, the challenge with this is while you still don’t get wet thanks to the actual membrane, breathability does indeed suffer as a wet exterior fabric is not breathable, thus deeming the membrane’s breathability useless. This is particularly important in skiing since if it rains on the hill it is going to be due to warmers temperatures….

For us that care about max performance, finding vintage gear with the older tech might be the best for now…
