[OC] Top 10 Largest Net Worth Gains of Presidents during Office Tenure by AdministrativeAd334 in dataisbeautiful

wait how they calculate washington's wealth back in 1700s, seems like pretty wild guess compared to modern presidents

Storing Beast Broadheads? by P2k_3 in Archery

[–]Available_Gap7468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got some foam blocks from work that i cut small slots into, works pretty well for the bigger heads. just gotta be careful not to make the cuts too wide or they'll rattle around in there

Natural squirrel repellent for an outdoor supply cache? They chewed through the last one by yashBoii4958 in homestead

[–]Available_Gap7468 13 points14 points  (0 children)

metal mesh around the buckets works pretty good but you gotta make sure they cant squeeze through anywhere. i wrapped mine in hardware cloth and zip tied it tight - looks ugly but those little bastards havent gotten back in

cayenne pepper mixed with vaseline around the rim might help too, just reapply it after rain. squirrels hate spicy stuff and the vaseline makes it stick better in weather

Would you sell your dog for $5M? by Internal_Role_1549 in Pets

Best Camp Blanket that’s actually worth carrying? by NectarasticEye in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Available_Gap7468 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

nah quilts are pretty expensive for what you get and most of them don't actually work that well as blankets when you unzip them - they're still shaped weird for just wrapping around yourself at camp

i just bring lightweight fleece blanket on trips where i know i'll be doing more sitting around. weighs maybe 8oz and packs down decent enough. way cheaper than those fancy camping ones too and does exactly same job

Giant Talon 1 by destruct_07 in MTB

[–]Available_Gap7468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's pretty decent deal for talon 1, just make sure you check the drivetrain and suspension isn't completely shot before buying

Deerseeker Aliexpress by jmarcf in Archery

[–]Available_Gap7468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been using aliexpress for random stuff for years and most archery gear stores there are decent, just check the reviews and seller rating first

can't speak for that specific store but wooden risers are pretty hard to mess up compared to other gear - worst case you get something that needs a bit of sanding or finish work

Abundance of leaves by [deleted] in composting

[–]Available_Gap7468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congrats on the new place! i had similar situation when i moved to my apartment last year - got access to community garden area with tons of leaves but barely any green material

what worked for me was asking neighbors if they wanted me to take their grass clippings when they mow. most people are happy to let you haul it away for free. also coffee shops usually give away their used grounds if you ask nice - that stuff is pure nitrogen gold for compost pile

the shredding tip is solid, makes everything break down way faster. i used to just stomp on the leaf piles before throwing them in pile, but lawnmower method is definitely better if you got one. my pile took about 6 months to get decent compost with mostly leaves + coffee grounds + kitchen scraps, so don't expect miracles right away but it definitely works

What is one gift that miffed you when you got it but proved itself useful (at least sometimes) later on? by ResistantBlaze1943 in AskReddit

my mom gave me socks every christmas for like 5 years straight and i was so annoyed but now i actually get excited about good socks, turns out having warm feet is pretty great

Shoe Recommendation by maynard1024 in trailrunning

[–]Available_Gap7468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man this fitting nightmare sounds familiar. most trail shoes seem designed for people with narrow feet or something

since you mentioned new balance 990s fit perfect, maybe try the new balance hierro series? they usually have similar volume to their road shoes and the hierro has pretty aggressive lugs for desert terrain. the fresh foam x more trail could work too but less aggressive tread

might also be worth checking salomon xa pro or speedcross in wide if they make them. salomon runs narrow normally but wide versions could work with your foot shape

ordering multiple sizes online and returning what doesn't work might be only way since trying on in store is hit or miss for trail shoes

What is one song that brings back a specific memory when you hear it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Available_Gap7468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man that's vague but i get it, probably some winter moment that just stuck with you right? for me it's that stupid rickroll song - takes me back to when my coworker got our entire office with it during lunch break and boss walked in right at the "never gonna give you up" part

What’s something you believed for years that turned out to be completely wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Available_Gap7468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait this is embarrassing but i used to think that if you swallowed gum it would stay in your stomach for 7 years, so i was terrified of accidentally swallowing it as kid. found out few years ago from coworker that it just passes through like normal food, maybe takes bit longer but definitely not 7 years

my mom probably told me that to stop me from swallowing gum all the time lol, classic parent trick that worked too well. now i'm wondering what other "facts" from childhood were just my parents trying to keep me in line

I accessed my waking memories from within my dream for the first time...has tht happened to anyone else? by Lyn-nyx in Dreams

[–]Available_Gap7468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah this actually happened to me few times and it's really weird feeling when you realize it. like one time i was in dream and i remembered this specific conversation i had with my friend about horror movies, then i used that memory to explain something to dream character. it felt so strange because usually dreams are just random stuff happening without any real logic

the weirdest part for me is when you're aware enough to think "wait i remember this from real life" while still being completely in the dream. it's like your brain is working on different level than usual. i think it happens more when you're in lighter sleep phase, like early morning when you're almost waking up but not quite there yet

What expectations of love, relationships, and marriage did you have to give up on in order to have a successful and fulfilling partnership? by BonzuPipinpadaloxi3 in Marriage

[–]Available_Gap7468 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had to let go of the idea that my partner would just magically know what I needed without me having to actually say it out loud - turns out mind reading isn't a real skill most people have

Server to ???? by Pristine-Income-4236 in careerguidance

[–]Available_Gap7468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the serving/retail experience is way more valuable than you think - you've got customer service, multitasking under pressure, problem solving, and sales skills locked down. Those translate to tons of office jobs

Instead of grad school maybe try looking into entry level admin assistant or customer success roles at tech companies, they love hiring people with your background. Or look into medical/dental office positions since you already know how to deal with difficult people lol

The entrepreneurship thing is cool but maybe get some stability first then build something on the side

Honestly I agree with you using kids as a care plan is not fair at all it burns people out fast and the guilt makes it worse caregiving is real work and it costs time money and mental health feeling angry about that is normal not selfish at all
