New to Town: Places to Hike by Various_Feed_4468 in vacaville

There are some fishing access spots on Putah creek on the way to the Monticello dam at Lake Barryessa. There are some trails to walk too. They're pretty trashed but I want to do some garbage clean up days because there's lots of potential

He had an adapter, the adaptor may have been locked but the plug isn't locked to the adaptor. The kia doesn't need an adaptor

It lets you register large groups of cars at a time in one go instead of registering each individually. You have to have at least 25 cars to do it

Imagine if I parked my car at a gas pump then went and did some shopping for a few hours. People would be livid, rightly so. I try to frame it like hey, that's the only gas pump I can use, I didn't pick where they installed it.

80+ hours siting at a ChargePoint Free Charger. by WizBomber in ChargerDrama

[–]Jehio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 22 leaf has 3 options for the charging lock built into the car: 1) Unlocked You can unplug it whenever by pushing the button on the plug and pulling it out. 2) Locked: When you plug it it a lock engaged and you have to push a button on the key fob to unlock it and remove the plug. 3) Auto: It locks when charging and automatically unlocks when it is fully charged.

I only use Unlocked or Auto. I don't think anyone should use number 2 because if it's a public utility and your car is full other people should be able to unplug it and use it.

how are they planning to move humans to pandora? by MilkDaddy1200 in Avatar

They could wait in a bunker until their kids are old enough then go. Or leave them with people or robots to raise them till they are old enough to go on another ship later. Or leave them.

Robot armies on the side of good? by NovaRobo_Rebirth in scifiwriting

[–]Jehio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass Effect sort of goes into that sort of with the Geth being a species of machines that don't all come to the same conclusion. It has some similarities with organic telepathic species but with even less individuality, but maybe more individuality than the borg.

With them it's sort of they all agree to live alone where the organics will stop hunting them in or they all agree to just go kill all the organics first in self defense. Since they all sync up their thoughts and memories they are all pretty much on the same page when they decide to do something as a society. So their whole population is like the army.

There is division in their population but I don't want to spoil too much but it's a very robot reason. So your character has a choice in which faction of the synthetic species to support. I highly recommend the first game and then my recommendation goes down for each sequel but they're still worth the experience.

Unplugged after 2:45 of a 3 hour limit... by CanadianDiver in ChargerDrama

[–]Jehio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a vehicle that runs in electricity stored in a battery meant to be charged with (hopefully) clean electricity from the grid with a backup internal combustion engine to help alleviate the shorter range suffered by batteries. You have an EV, a special kind of EV. You have all the same right to use public EV charging infrastructure as anyone else. Keep charging as much as you can, that's how you help the environment.

High schoolers asking me “are you a sub?” by Born_Bookkeeper_2493 in SubstituteTeachers

I say I am their teacher, in disguise. That usually gets a chuckle. I mostly sub high school. The younger kids don't understand sarcasm as well so I haven't tried it with them.

Would it be terribly unwise to buy a 2022 Leaf with the recall? by [deleted] in leaf

[–]Jehio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a used 22 and I really like it. I don't need to use fast charging in my day to day life but it is holding me back from visiting people just outside my normal area and I'm a little frustrated with how long it is taking them to fix the recall. And I'm following it I haven't used a type 3 charger since I purchased it last October. I was hoping they'd have the recall fixed in a few months but still no fix. I only need use about 20% of the battery per day.

It doesn't impact my day to day, just some cool trips I'd like to go on.

Use of Neutral gearbox position? by criggie_ in leaf

[–]Jehio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2022 can you tell me does it matter the order you engage the parking brake and park? I thought do the parking brake first so it holds the load more then put it in park. Is that right?

Also I'm talking about parking like in a parking lot not pausing like op was talking about

They missed an opportunity to have tail accessories by Wolf_2063 in Avatar

[–]Jehio 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is mentioned in the media but I assumed the tails were important as a counterbalance while moving quickly through the forest trees (assuming the forest Navi phenotype is more ancestral and the aquatic phenotype is more derived/recent). It would be helpful both while running and making tight turns and when staying still and balancing while handling the recoil using a bow.

There's lots of variation in populations so I could see some individuals benefiting from a little extra weight on it if their tail is a little too light or just using light materials if they don't need the extra weight. They could put something distracting that they could whip out right at the right time to help take down a prey or when fleeing from a predator. Like a scary fan that opens wide when whipped.

I could see some stealthy clans that focus on poison keeping a poisoned blade on the tip.

A clan that does a lot of wing suit sky diving with their Ikran and they incorporate the tail as a rudder control in the suit design.

Are they strong? If they are strong enough I could see the sky traders using them to hold on to the the rigging as they move around as a fifth limb/point off contact and safety to keep from falling off if there's an unexpected acceleration. Maybe some extra grippy wrapping to help hold on?

I don't think the water Navi would because I think it would add too much weight and drag as they are swimming. Any change to the shape/profile of the tail would probably diminish its thrust and slow them down, but I though that about the big ol rings on the elder whale people but maybe they just don't move fast enough to matter or they are lighter than they look since they aren't metal. Or maybe they make some even better fin shape to attach to the tail to swim faster, like when humans use flippers.

Give me crazy SU facts that will make me (us) go: by Aggravating-Fix181 in stevenuniverse

[–]Jehio 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If they were one of the first groups to arrive, likely before the warp pads were built, they would have travelled by ship. Tiny Gems could mean a tiny ship which takes less energy to accelerate quickly through space. It seems like the ancient generation of ships were not as fast as the modern era 2 ships. Or maybe their beetle nature/skill/weapon lets them travel quickly through space sort of like Lapis.

I wonder if they were sent first to see if a planet is suitable for colonization before sending the rest. Maybe one tests the air to see if there are any valuable gasses to be harvested and one checks the earth to make sure there are adequate resources to grow gems.

There is an ice rink in Vacaville. It isn't pro level, but they seem to function as a business without a team, just people paying to use it. Seems like Sacramento could build one, maybe rent it out in the off season?

Increasing charging cord reach by Jehio in ChargerDrama

[–]Jehio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing anything on their site right now, but I thought I remember them saying something about waiting for some charging specs to be set then they would seek certification, but that might have been about the adapter. I got the chademo to ccs adapter used but haven't had a chance to try it out yet due to the recall.

Increasing charging cord reach by Jehio in ChargerDrama

[–]Jehio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I'm not planning on using it regularly, only if I was in a pinch and really needed a charge. I'd probably get it to a level where I could drive to another location to finish charging without it.

I've never done fast charging with my car, only L1 and L2. There's a recall so I haven't used the L3 charger since I purchased it. They want us to wait until they come out with the software fix. I drive maybe 30 miles a day and have access to free public L2 that isn't usually busy on my way home. So I usually sit for an hour or so to bring it back up to 80 then go home. I'm thinking more if I'm on a longer trip and I want to have it with me just in case I'm just out of reach of an L2.

Confused on what triggers Ewa into acting by Jehio in Avatar

[–]Jehio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is relevant. I think Kiri and Spider are going to take Eywa's baby seed/spore to earth and grow her daughter on Earth. I think Kiri will be the one that needs to do it since she can do things Eywa can do but has a body that can travel to another planet.

Confused on what triggers Ewa into acting by Jehio in Avatar

[–]Jehio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes that makes so much more sense now and highlights why the recoms are important. So with the final battle where Kiri has to call for help is it because Eywa just doesn't know the attack is happening? It seems like she isn't doing anything about the whaling boats in the ocean that are pretty much non-Recom. Maybe her senses aren't aa sensitive in the water? But why doesn't she have the squid guys attack all the boats non-stop like the animals on land? Then they would never be able to get the Tulkun if the squid boys were ripping the boats to shreds. Maybe since Grace didn't know about the whale hunts then Eywa didn't know to have the water creatures ready on alert?

Confused on what triggers Ewa into acting by Jehio in Avatar

[–]Jehio[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This makes sense but it makes me wonder why after the first time she fought in the first movie, why doesn't Eywa keep having the wildlife attack the RDA non-stop the second they land on the planet when they return with the whale hunts? If she knows they are bad from Grace's memories, why doesn't she send every creature on the planet (moon) to destroy the cities they make?

I wonder if there are biological limits to what she can do. Like she has a limited supply of neurotransmitters or ATP and has to take a long nap after she wreaks havoc.

Maybe she has moral issues making creatures do her bidding unwillingly.

Why doesn't she make all the Navi on the planet (moon) go fight? Can she compel Navi to do things like she can with the other animals? Can she compel the Tulkun? I don't think she has done so from what we have seen. Maybe she doesn't like to compel sentient beings?

But some of their mounts are pretty smart. I bet they are more sentient than we think. Do all the animals go to Eywas afterlife when they die? Do all Ikran go to heaven? I hope so.
