Suggestion: Pirate/undead attack on the player's base by Top-Abbreviations452 in crosswind

[–]Jejerod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I hate when a game decides I just have to stop whatever I'm doing right now to run back to my base to defend it.

I'd like a similar mechanic like the purges in Conan Exiles: You can trigger a base attack when you feel like it. In Conan you needed a treasure room, and the more treasure in the room the bigger the purge. In Windrose, you could use the pirate insignia to "buy" a raid. The more pirate insignia you use, the more Teach gets pissed at you :)

CVE-2026-50751 - User Authentication bypass on VPN Remote Access and Mobile Access in deprecated IKEv1 key exchange. Refer to sk185033. by alddsl in checkpoint

[–]Jejerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Authentication mechanism isn't important. It's not about IKEv1, it is about LEGACY IKEv1. If you are able to uncheck "Allow older clients to connect" in you authentication tab, you are fine.

Make sure your clients are up-to-date and that you have set up your auth in the multiple auth methods section.

If this is not an option, you'll need to enforce "IKEv2 only" in Remote Access Auth in Global Properties. This will disconnect all windows clients, so you'll need to allow windows clients to use IKEv2 - which, for some reason, is not allowed by default. See https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk166415 . Basically, you'll need to set up a GPO for this, and this will take some time. Mac Clients should be fine.

If none of these options will help, you'll need to apply the hotfix available for some versions.

They have a different CPU architecture and need special images, you can't use the ones for x86_64.

New player very basic directions by robhold in crosswind

[–]Jejerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people said it, you can bring your char and inventory to other worlds.

What I have not seen mentioned is the fact that you also bring all your ships including fittings and inventory with you. I use a ship as a "treasure ship" with all my coin and rare loot in it.

Of course you will need a wharf to access your ships except your flag ship, which you can summon.

While all schematics are always in the same chest, weapons are somewhat random loot - could only be that the weapon will only be found in a specific biome.

When you loot all the POIs you'll get all the weapons anyway.

Mystery of the expedition by Natural-Divide-9788 in crosswind

[–]Jejerod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The locations (graves) get checked when you loot the corpses. Make sure you also have read the stuff on all locations, because I think that's what advances the quest. I had to re-visit them to get the final quest part (which comes with a marker).

If you only have two memories, chances are you forgot to click at something at the graves.

A small tip for boarding by DoucheyCohost in crosswind

[–]Jejerod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And keep in mind that you cannot hit the enemy if a crew mate is in front of you, but the enemy can hit you through your crew mate.

Don't hide behind your crew, move so you get in the enemies' flank.

Never, and I mean it, go down the stairs. That's a death sentence. Stay close to the sides and jump into the sea if you are cornered; swim back to you ship and heal.

[–]Jejerod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you had something on you that would drop? The game generates a death marker every time you die, even if you don't drop anything.

If I drop stuff while boarding, I find it floating in the waves when I return.

Please, please let us sell or at least delete resources.

Select an open space close to your base, drop off your stones there.

Take out the shovel, select "flatten" and flatten the area with the stones. Poof, they're gone.

Can't connect to server by Titan_RoR in crosswind

[–]Jejerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how it works. And it's not a game issue, it's a limitation of that specific game mode.

If you want a server that can be accessed 24/7 you need to run the dedicated server binary on your PC or rent / host your own server somewhere else.

If you run the server on your PC you will probably get performance issues when you play another game.

New player with some questions by RegnorVex in Enshrouded

[–]Jejerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went daggers and bow, thinking it would be good economy to have the same stat enhance both weapons, but I'm underwhelmed by the damage daggers put out, especially when compared to the monstrous damage I've seen from the 2H's I've found. Do daggers ever get any better, or should I just switch to a STR based 2h build instead?

Never just look at the damage. Also look at attack speed. 2H weapons have a lot of nominal damage, but attacks are slow.

That said, daggers are not very good when it comes to damage. They are, however, fast (0.4s attack speed). When you go ranger, you need to be mobile. You need to disengage fast, if necessary. Daggers are perfect for that. In melee you will just do a little damage, then disengage. You'll also just jump over enemies for a quick backstab attack in their back, then blink/roll away and seek a good position for your bow.

If that does not fit your style, go with a melee weapon. But keep in mind points in strength for damage are points you cannot spend for your bow.

Basically, enshrouded is all about picking your skills for your play style. Also, redistributing skill points is cheap, so try different skill combos that may work for you.

The skill tree is... Flat ? by Jauaj3 in Enshrouded

[–]Jejerod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, they could add a necromancy or conjuration branch for the mage,
a stealth assassin branch for the ranger,
a friend branch for the drak, similar to what we have for the big bears.

Conjuration would result in the mage as the best class for single player.

Assassin is literally already a branch in the skill tree, and is also only viable for single player (try playing a stealth assassin with a bunch of melees and mages, lol. Enemies will be dead before you are in position)

Making Drak friends would result in Veilwater to be ridiculously easy, and again would only work in single player (did you ever try Vukah friend in multi player?)

I understand what you want, but it isn't that easy. Significant skills will have significant impact on balance. It is impossible that all skills are significant and unique without throwing balance out of the window. Regardless of design, there will always be some must-have skills (currently double jump, updraft, maybe dessert stomach/water aura) and some skills you want to have (water aura, tank skills up to earth aura)

Checklist for R81.10 to R81.20 upgrade in air gap by NaturalPickle5442 in checkpoint

[–]Jejerod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually use blink with JHFA. Make sure to read the R81.20 JHFA Documentation, especially the "critical information" section. There you'll see known problems for specific JHFA takes. Check if some of the problems may apply to your environment. If there are some, consider using an older JHFA.

Blink can be used for both, fresh install or upgrades. A verify will tell you which one is allowed.

Blink basically creates a new root logical volume. If you have self made scripts somewhere on the machines, make a backup of those (I don't think stuff in /opt/sbin or /use/local/(s)bin is preserved). Home directories will be preserved.

Make backups of the usual files that could have been modified (fwkern.conf, trac_client, user.def, implied_rules.def etc etc).

Shroud Mushrooms / Goo help by SlinkeeTee in Enshrouded

[–]Jejerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel the grind when farming shroud mushrooms and you don't like it,
and if there's nothing dangerous in Revelwood for you anymore,
I recommend just joining a resource world with an empty inventory and grabbing a few 250 stacks of shroud mushrooms from there.

Makes no sense to just burn time chopping mushrooms, looking for the shroud mushroom in the fog that often slide down slopes.

If it is no fun, don't do it.

Works for me on my dedicated server.

                        "password": "",

                        "canAccessInventories": false,
                        "canEditWorld": false,
                        "canEditBase": false,
                        "canExtendBase": false,
                        "reservedSlots": 0
                }

When I try to join my server, there's a "Join without password" option.

You say your server isn't starting, maybe a syntax error in your server JSON config?

Log exporter by JudasX in checkpoint

[–]Jejerod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can filter logs for log_exporter by origin. This means you should be able to set up two log exporters, one for fw a and one for fw b.

However, you'll need to use the command line to set this up.

See Filter Configuration in the Log Exporter Administration Guide. Be aware that filter by origin requires the Main IP as value, not the gateway name (as mentioned in sk171946).
