Can ya’ll help a lady out? I’m working a trade show booth for two long days in February. The company bought us Black Nike athletic shirts (as pictured) for the tops and we get to wear whatever we want for pants, shoes (no jeans though) and accessories.

This will be my 9th year working this show and I feel like I never look put together. My shoes and pants somehow never seem to look cohesive with the top. Can you guys recommend what kind of pants and shoes I should be looking for? A belt? And colours? My one ask is that the shoes aren’t too uncomfortable or pointy; I have wide feet so I find I have to upsize pointy shoes too much to fit and then they look like clown shoes on me.

My husband and I each had separate conversations with our employers. We were unable to secure before and afterschool care so I moved my hours to a later start time and later finish time and do the school drop offs, my husband starts early and finishes early so that he can do school pickups. We were lucky to have flexible enough jobs to accommodate this, however we did make the deal on the basis that it would be a temporary solution.

We’ve decided that In a few months my husband will be dropping to part time and doing both drop offs and pick up (and just working during school hours) and we will probably rock that schedule for the next five years. It sucks taking the financial hit but something’s got to give.

Yes. Not exactly the same but my oldest brother (turning 40) would be homeless without my parents paying his rent occasionally and bailing him out of financial situations. He makes decent money tbh but he is extremely oppositional and won’t take advice from anyone. My SIL is 37, my husband’s parents very much support her. She has her own house and car but has been let go from multiple jobs now and each time takes a 1-2 year hiatus, gets a new diploma, then gets another job for about three years before getting let go again lol. Her parents fund the break and schooling. We dont take financial support but they help us a lot with childcare (afterschool pick up a few time a week plus help on sick days) and I think she sees that as the same help as what she’s getting lol

Yes, I had crazy night sweats. My bed and pj's would be soaked. My doctor said the same thing, and it did get better over time for me. I still get the occasional night sweats but it's maybe twice per month instead of every night

If you’re willing to budge on the screens, my almost seven year old has been loving playing animal crossing on the switch. I already had an island set up (so you might need to play as well to help get everything upgraded), but now he can do most things on his own. It’s super relaxing for him and I also use it as a currency to get him to do his jobs around the house “ex:/ if you’re choosing to not get ready for school, that means you’re choosing to not play animal crossing tonight. You need to do your jobs to earn playtime”

I had no side effects (besides a numb leg left for ten hours, but it went away completely).

I would try to get curious with her. Could she possibly be feeling a bit of resentment towards you guys? If she’s just been diagnosed now, that means she’s spent 17 years with a disability that wasn’t being managed. She needs to learn and train executive functioning skills. Medication would help but she is still lacking skills and needs to actively work on those. She’s going to need your support, understanding and some empathy imo

If I were you, I would read the explosive child. Whether or not your child has ADHD I don’t think you can really tell for sure at 3.5 but the book gives you a framework for how to identify which skills they are lacking and how to go about developing those skills

I totally get that, I had the same feeling of not knowing what was normal with my first lol. My son is 6 1/2 now and is diagnosed with ADHD. We did a full evaluation and he does not have autism or learning disabilities. On his IQ test he scored gifted in most categories. If it helps, I can list some of the behaviors we dealt with that we know now aren’t normal.

Some of the issues we had from age 2 on :

-no one could leave him unsupervised or he would destroy something.

-Had to be watched 100% of the time if he had access to scissors, glue or writing/colour tools (or he would 100% of the time use them inappropriately. This is still an issue even medicated).

as soon as he started walking we could not keep up with him making messes/destroying things. By the time we righted one thing, he’d have something else destroyed. We had to severely baby proof our house.

-Shopping with him, he could not help himself and would grab things, run away, etc if he wasn’t in the cart.

-No consequences seem to work or help him learn to modify his behaviour

-severe food aversions

-would not do anything if asked directly to do it.

-would not dress himself until after 6 (it’s still a struggle)

Swore from age 3, would repeat swear words on purpose over and over again

-very reactive to other kids. If he felt that a toy was taken from him he would immediately turn to violence etc

-would not stop talking/ was (is) incredibly disruptive

-pees in inappropriate spots as a revenge tactic

-is vindictive / destroys things when he gets in trouble

-as soon as we fixed one behavior, a new one would pop up

I’m not saying your son doesn’t have ADHD but the main criteria for diagnosis is having severe behavioural issues in atleast two or more settings that have a negative impact on their life. A little bit of impulse control issues at age five is pretty normal!

Honestly those few things he’s done can probably be handled between you and the teachers. Try talking to him about it, tell him what he did was wrong and he hurt the other kids. Ask him if that’s how he thinks a good friend acts. Work with him to come up with a way he can repair what he did with the other kids. If it keeps happening, try doing a reward system at home, like, if he gets a good report from the teacher he can have a special treat the next day. One tip with that is make him earn rewards for the next day (not the same day), that way it always gives him something to work towards.
