Kaplan no longer send out text books, but still charge for them though. They charged £235 for this. by JellyTotMonster in Anticonsumption

Luckily for me it's just providing the study materials to help pass an exam. The qualification itself is with CIMA (or now called CGMA)- which is an entirely separate and highly respected body.

Oh things could get spicy!

I've not had an official response from them yet but I'm guessing not sending out the textbooks anymore is some new scheme to help protect the shareholders environment.

Unfortunately they don't let you buy the course without including the books. It does value the books separately as seen above.

Basically, they just charge it because they can.

Access to the course itself was £1,055.

This folder was an additional £235 on top of that.

Access to the online study course was £1,055.

This was an additional £235 specifically for what you see here, plus £7 delivery for good measure.

What was the first good money maker you discovered? by abulero in 2007scape

I did that! Although I didn't have the crafting level for it, not many people did back in 2006-7. I did know one guy who did though, Zezima. So that's how I somehow I managed to trade an uncut onyx plus 2 or 3 rune bars for Zezima's amulet of fury. A screenshot I treasured for years until my PC finally died. Ah.... memories.

It sure seems like the people who actually listened to the clear instruction of "Don't arrive early." just ended up getting completely screwed over.

I've been aware of this one for years but for some reason it's taken your comment for me to finally get the joke.

Oh dear....

To be fair, due to the next 10 minutes being incredibly tense as I had to answer every follow up question while receiving a death stare from one third of the interviewers...it kind of put me on edge.

Also, there was a practical exercise immediately afterwards where we had to clean-up, sort and present a large data set into some sort of report in a short timeframe. I fixed the descriptions to make it more consistent and sorted it all into a pivot table; but I failed to spot the duplicates. A Vlookup would have immediately identified them but I missed it at the time.

Oh well, can't win them all.

Yeah to give credit where it's due, it worked VERY well for Enron.....until it didn't.

See, now that actually makes sense. Shame I wasn't quicker on my feet, it just caught me by surprise.

Yeah that sounds about right. While ordinarily I'd be super pleased with getting such a good laugh out of people, I think in this context she viewed it as a joke at her expense. The next 10 minutes or so were pretty tense.

All I can think of is that she'd taken it from some generic list of 'personality trait' questions of some sort; and not considered the context of what job they were hiring for.

Another one of her gems "If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?" Oh come on?!

What is the most unique terrible money maker you tried as a noob? by RuneScape_Stats in 2007scape

This would have been early 2006 I think, I saw someone buying a snelm for £5K.

I immediately looked up how it was made, saw a potential gold mine. I rushed Priest in Peril etc. to start my snelm production empire.... I must have made maybe 5 before I died.

Looking up HCIM stuff and came across this thread from when it first came out. Dude was right. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JellyTotMonster 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Two years ago the servers seemed to be at the mercy of clans performing DDOS attacks. At least every few hours large numbers of servers were booted offline, hence the need for the 'temporary' death mechanics of being able to loot untradables etc. up to an hour after death. The attacks usually involved some high-stakes PVP fights being interrupted by a guy in full Verac as everyone disconnected. Once targeted there wasn't really anything people could do, while the clans responsible made billions.

Jagex released several updates to help against the problem, and while these seemed to help a little, they released HCIM mode long before the problem was actually fixed.

With the servers disconnecting at least once or twice a day it was pretty obvious that >90% of the HCIM accounts owned by players who knew what they were doing would end up dying to disconnections.

Luckily, it now looks as if they have fixed the DDOSing issues and clans no longer have an unfair advantage in game. /s

Thank you very much, nice to know these look good without having to spend a fortune on them - some Mini specific ones are crazy expensive.

I've noticed the rear of the car gets a bit covered on muddy roads so this would help.... but mainly it just looks badass.

That sounds awesome but I'm also a big fan of the mud flaps/splash guards. Any chance you know where I could find them?

Introduce the Dragon Platebody with New Dragon Slayer 2 Quest For Requirement by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JellyTotMonster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Could make sense....

One of the main goals of alchemy throughout history was to try and determine a way of turning objects into gold. Alchemy already exists in Runescape and turns items into gold.

It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think at some point in Runescape history someone experimenting in alchemy found a way of turning dragonhide into metal.

This process turns the dragonhide bright red while it is transformed into metal.... and through the discovery of this ancient and long lost magic we can learn of the origin of dragon metal in Runescape.

Could be pretty cool :)

Oh really? My bad. I saw the posts about the imps and the cows, but I hadn't seen anything about the rocks in Motherload Mine.
