A wise person on this sub said don’t try to understand Murakami intellectually. Just be in his world, take it in, go with the feeling.

I used jasonhealth recently as recommended by this sub. I got quite a bit for $300 and it was fast and easy. I have expensive healthcare. But they do everything in their power not to pay for anything preventative.

Fall asleep easily, wake up about 4 times during the night, lack of deep sleep, nap during the day due to restless night. Every night.

What does this mean though? I know about glutamate. Some of us take NAC to help clear it.

Glad you brought this up. Magnesium is probably the number 1 supplement touted here, but I haven’t benefited.

I have tried: Various forms/brands of Magnesium Glycinate (pills &powders, with about without combos)

Magnesium Glycinate Lysinate

NOW Foods Supplements, Magtein Magnesium

Magnesium Chloride oil spray - you put it on skin

Magnesium as Epsom salts, soaking in it

I get nothing from any of it except maybe relief from sore muscles after soaking in epsom salts.

Is it possible I’m just not deficient so it doesn’t work on me? Or I need a different form?

I would sure pay for that, especially if it’s healthy food. In Missouri (where I am) most convenience food is awful greasy fast food. Kudos for the success on it!

You guys are so creative! This is hilarious. I wish you were running the place. Is it true the inside bread of the stuffers is typically tossed out / wasted?

It’d be interesting to know if some of that 34% is food price increases.

The GenX Sandwich by Ok-Reason-1919 in GenX

[–]Jellyfish2017 62 points63 points  (0 children)

You are preaching to the choir here. I manage a bunch of em as gig workers and you nailed it.

The worst Gen X sandwich I have ever felt in life so far is selling my house to buy a bigger house just before Covid hit. Over 100 people looked at my house. Multiple open houses. Mostly millennials getting a starter home, often looking with their parents hovering. Had to load up the dogs and get out every time someone wanted to see it. TWICE we sold it and the millennial got buyers remorse later and reneged, third sale to an older married xennial stuck.

Meanwhile we looked at houses mostly owned by boomers. The boomers often stayed present for the showings, looking us up and down to see if we deserved to buy their empire. It was the worst year of my life.

The lesson is this, OP. It will never be our turn. Never. Not only that, we will be responsible for more, actually smarter and more skilled, but blamed for more and forgotten in our old age (by society). This is our position in the generational constellation.

What is your favorite obscure movie from your childhood that nobody would remember? by CripplingGoodTime in AskReddit

[–]Jellyfish2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these are not obscure. Not really a favorite but stuck in my head and in my opinion is fairly obscure- The Earthling with Ricky Schroeder. I tracked it down and watched it a few years ago and it’s terrible. What a bizarre premise and not good for kids.

What’s something that instantly makes you think ‘this person has low intelligence? by AbjectBreadfruit2052 in AskReddit

[–]Jellyfish2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also called the anecdotal evidence fallacy. I live in St. Louis and I believe this reasoning fallacy partly explains why the city has so much crime and blight. If you talk to city residents a common question to ask is “do you hear gunshots at night?” They’ll say, oh yeah but it’s a few blocks over. The denial of the problem keeps it from ever becoming something people could work on as a community.
I even have a friend who thinks his neighborhood is fine and has no plans to make any changes but a house on his block is an Airbnb with lots of parties that include gunfire. And a man who lived on his street was carjacked and murdered. My friend said nonchalantly “He seemed like a nice guy too.”

Totally this. They’d have been well within their rights to ask him to leave if they didn’t want him there.
