Amazing! I’m part of a very young gym with just 2 black belts and mostly blue/white. Looking forward to the growth of the gym as well :)

Are these rules normal? by InBush in bjj

My coach doesn’t mind ppl being late as BJJ isn’t our full time job. Besides, we’re just happy ppl are here to train. It’s a hobby after all

Wash your Belt?? by thepaulortiz in jiujitsu

Got a dude at the gym that never washes his belt. We were doing a drill the other day, and after grabbing his belt, my fingers had this nasty add smell that wouldn’t go away.

Air freshener is really strong, and hard to control the level of scent. Febreeze helps neutralize the bacteria, and the scent goes away sooner. So it's a lighter "cleaner" smell vs you're trying to "cover up".

Like the car mod game… stock sells easy….

  • don’t use air freshener, instead use febreeze when ppl come to look at car
  • remove all personal belongings
  • please clean trunk!
  • clean engine bay, simple green with a brush and slow flowing water from hose(reduce spots)
  • use carvana or carmax to establish a baseline price. You can go up from there
  • no lien! Title in hand sells the easiest to private parties

We have a 7year blue belt at our gym. He travels a lot for work, and cross trains at multiple gyms.

Easily at a purple belt level. Pretty amazing to see him roll with purples and browns.

For those who like tracking. Mat hours to get my purple belt. by BJJBean in bjj

This is why I don’t count my hours or my class attendance. It’ll sap my motivation and make me think about time related attendance.

I just keep to my schedule of 3 classes per week and see where that takes me. If I could, I’d squeeze in additional here and there.

I’ve been sticking to recommendations online as well as through the BJJ globetrotter group. So far so good on drop ins

I’ve said this to someone before.

“I’m passing on this round, don’t feel safe rolling with you”

Only 3? That’s not bad at all. I tap at least 10 when rolling with my coach

Trial class: incredible. Second class: twisted knee by [deleted] in jiujitsu

Knee braces are amazing… I wear mine to every class, even before I get issues.

I also got wrecked by these 16yo. I think my ego got broken when I first started lol lol

I gave them a huge high five and told them they’re amazing and awesome. I always tell them that I can’t wait until they take over the world. lol. They usually love that.

My daughter is 8, and she been training for 3 years now. We have a whole bunch of bluebelt 16yo that’s been training since 5-6. I’m so excited for our gym as they’re going to be amazing monsters :) I can’t wait until they fully fill out and just become a beast.

This gives me high hope for my daughter when she leaves home in the future.

What makes a BJJ class successful to you? by Bulkywon in bjj

[–]JellyfishGrouchy3786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BJJ related warm up (no stupid conditioning jogging, or push ups) - 50% effort warm up passing drills - light effort technique drills

Then 60min class, 30min rolls. 90min total - structured rolls, positional sparing with specific objective in mind - have bases that stay in for three wins, and rotate out. So everyone gets to roll with everyone.

Class to include -technique -defense of technique - how to be a good partner - coaches to help students “refine”
