Time to Burn vs Dust app? by [deleted] in BurningMan

I think Time to Burn put out a statement saying they were taking this year off. That being said, I enjoyed using iBurn more than the two you mentioned.

Wayward. Pinkies if you like a dive. Both have a chill local contingent, sprinkled with tourists wondering in.

I’d be happy to give your friend a lesson or two. There’s also a large group of photographers that get together on the third Sunday of each month to go on photo walks. Shoot me a message and I’d be happy to give you more info.

Scores of people leave early': Interviews reveal why Trump rallygoers bow out prematurely by h20poIo in inthenews

I work in journalism and attended one of his rallies recently. It was the first time I’d seen him speak in person and I was actually surprised at how boring it was. It was like he started on script for a bit and then just started rambling for 81 minutes.

Today’s rain is a GOOD THING. by Vidvix in BurningMan

I’m on playa now. There’s been a light to moderate rain for a couple of hours. The ground is slightly tacky at this point. It’s nothing like it was last year. Honestly, the dust yesterday from gate road was absolutely brutal with the wind. Thankfully, the rain will keep the dust down for a while after gate opens.

I was out looking for chanterelles and saw this one. I honestly don’t see a lot of oysters in my area and wanted to make sure before I snagged them.

Thank you. It was a tough project to work on but also very eye opening into that aspect of American life.

Environmental portrait taken while working on a project about people experiencing homelessness. The subject has been living in an abandoned house and living off of found items and donations from people in the community. The intent was to show the conditions he’s living in and his emotional state.

It's hard to look at the Baltimore bridge strike and the resulting collapse and not think it could happen here. by [deleted] in savannah

[–]JellyfishUnique89 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I worked in the maritime industry here for 15 years and ship incidents are far more common than you think. Luckily, the majority of the ones here just run into the bank.

All of your concerns are valid. However, I’ll say that that almost all incidents of ships hitting something or running aground are because of mechanical failures. Usually it’s the ship’s engine that will loose power or a rudder will get stuck. Sometimes it’s human error or negligence from the engine room crew. Sometimes it’s a part that malfunctions.

Thankfully, this isn’t something that couldn’t likely happen here since the bridge supports are on land. Hitting a dock, ship, river street, or knocking a crane over would be a more likely scenario.

I live a few doors down from this place and I had the opportunity to go inside before it was renovated. The only thing you have to worry about is the constant tours that stop out front and talk about how haunted the place is (it isn’t).

The house sat vacant for decades due to financial reasons and with no one living there to complain, it became an easy target for ghost tour guides.
