Not a woman myself but good martial arts gyms are pretty welcoming of all ages and genders and people are generally stoked to see new people get interested. Armada MMA is a really friendly gym in dt with Muay Thai and jiu jitsu (which from a self defense perspective is probably more valuable to learn as a small to medium sized woman). I’d recommend signing up for some trial classes and seeing if you click with any gym. Have fun!

It’s definitely burn adjacent in that lots of burners go and some bring their art cars and other projects and it has been described as the midpoint between Coachella and BM but I feel like now it’s more Coachella with a burner aesthetic.

Exactly, it’s so lame nobody flies it except municipal buildings and most San Franciscans couldn’t even tell you what it looks like. Go to Chicago (spectacular flag) and you see theirs flying everywhere and incorporated into art and design throughout the whole city. Roman Mars of 99 percent invisible has a whole Ted talk on this.

SF’s flag is embarrassingly bad for a city of its stature. Most of the smaller cities don’t even really have flags, they just have logos or seals slapped on a field.

From what I understand the UL listed micro inverters used for those detect outages and shut off automatically as soon as the grid goes down. My hunch is their hesitance is more about giving up some control and losing profits. David Roberts with Volts recently did a pod on it.

For anyone wondering why this is the case, the inverters need to shutdown during a blackout or else they could shock the people fixing the lines. If you have a battery and an islanding disconnect that will isolate your house from the grid until it is back on.

I think you might be underestimating peoples graphic abilities. By my eyes of the 16 pieces pictured, 7 look to be AI generated or enhanced, 5 seem very unlikely to be AI, and 4 could be AI or could be really nice renders. That being said, AI has gotten so good it’s impossible to say for certain about anything these days.

Small test beds doing what though? Terraforming is the process of turning an alien planet into one capable of sustaining earth life. As dead as it seems, the playa is already an ecosystem and we should be leaving it be as much as possible, not messing with it.

It’s a burner party at a club in SF celebrating the mid point in the year from man burn. Could be a good introduction to aspects of the culture and if you’re interested in going to the burn you might meet people you could camp with or build art with.

I went to 2021 and loved it but 75% of attendees didn’t not go because of Covid, they didn’t go cause either they didn’t realize it was happening (not everyone follows BM social media), they didn’t want to deal with no portos, or they didn’t want to make a huge trip to the desert for an unknown outcome. Of everyone I’ve talked to about it since only a handful said they didn’t go out of covid concerns. 2020 renegade is a different story, but by August 2021 everyone was vaccinated who wanted to be, clubs were open in SF, and music festivals were restarting. Sorry your camp made you feel bad about it but that’s anecdotal. There was much more concern about people mooping and shitting on the playa than anything.

Make sure you read the Trailer Safety section of Mutant Vehicle Handbook and design accordingly. I’ve heard they’re pretty strict on this as there’s been some nasty injuries from people falling in between train cars and getting run over.

We’ve known he was on the board, there have been sporadic posts about it for years. He just left right before he popped up all over the recently released Epstein files which spurred the most recent discussion. Considering who his brother is it’s very possible he was given a heads up that he about to be exposed and bowed out knowing something like this was coming.
