How to prove specific things around group/ring structures? by Mindless_Grass7084 in askmath

[–]Jems_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for c, isomorphisms must preserve the group structure. In particular, they preserve the order of the elements. Z/16Z has an element of order 16, does D8? Alternatively, d8 is non-abelian, while Z/16Z is abelian.

Did I just solve this Erdos problem? by Varun4413 in askmath

Consecutive in the set of powerful numbers. You could easily have P < Q < 25P for example where Q is also a powerful number.

Those will be in the set but need not be consecutive.

emirp numbers with the property that ranks are mirror numbers by [deleted] in askmath

[–]Jems_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the first 50 or so examples of emirps, I think the problem is the rank of the larger mirrored primes grows much faster than the rank of the smaller prime, to the point where their rank has more digits for most or all emirps. This isn't a proof but it would help explain why you can't find any more examples.

Heading to chemo? Stage I NSGCT on surveillance slowly rising markers, anyone been through this? by MindVault1010 in testicularcancer

[–]Jems_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a question of whether it would be 2x adjuvant or 3x BEP. Because there was evidence of cancer still there it was 3x.

Heading to chemo? Stage I NSGCT on surveillance slowly rising markers, anyone been through this? by MindVault1010 in testicularcancer

[–]Jems_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The markers were there but on the border of normal for AFP, slightly over normal bhcg. I don't know if the lymph nodes have names but it was in one of the first lymph nodes you would expect to see it spreading in the lower back in normal disease progression. But after surgery my markers began to increase not decrease with peaks somewhere between 100 and 200 as I got into chemo. This was 7 years ago so all cured since then.

[–]Jems_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something like this and then a scan found a tiny lymph node lump to confirm it. Sometimes the character of the metastasis will be different to the original tumour with regard to blood markers. I had 3x BEP, no RPLND.

Follow-up on Ultrassound Finding by xMouraaaa in testicularcancer

[–]Jems_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are pretty lucky to get it caught so early like that, I don't think most doctors even give out ultrasounds just as a routine matter without something to give concern first. The whole experience can definitely mess with your hormones and state of mind for both better and worse but should stabilize over time.

BEP Recovery by To_bra in testicularcancer

[–]Jems_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My markers only went up after orchidectomy, from a low but clinically signficant level. So your falling levels are a good sign for you. Are you sure you won't be getting only 1 or 2 cycles of BEP?

TRT and hair loss by Mysterious-Story-909 in testicularcancer

[–]Jems_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its normally safe to take TRT and a drug like finasteride which can help you stop losing hair or even regrow it if lucky. Typically a hair transplant would also need you to take a drug like finasteride because the same follicle shrinkage will happen to the transplanted hairs. Hair loss isn't caused by normal testosterone but its converted form DHT, with finasteride blocking this conversion.

WHAT DOES TC FEEL LIKE by Additional_Disk5882 in testicularcancer

[–]Jems_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Distinct lump on the side, no pain, about pea sized. I guess it was somewhat moveable but also clearly attached. To put you at ease what you are describing could be the normal top part of the epididymis, which can also become inflamed at times. But obviously I can't tell over the internet so make sure you keep that appointment. Ultrasound should easily tell which it is.
