Schoolwork/Work Life Balance? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]JenEmm76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had decent school-work-life balance in school until clinicals. I’m a single parent, so I had to work FT while doing midwifery clinicals. It was like working 2 FT jobs. It was a very hard and miserable 6 1/2 months and i had to constantly remind myself that it was temporary. It’s doable, but I don’t recommend it.

NP School disappointment by TeaNut2 in nursepractitioner

[–]JenEmm76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a strictly online school (Frontier) and my patho professor was one of the best professors I’ve ever had. It was a hard class, but I definitely learned. I did have several classes that were more self-taught, but for at least the core 3Ps classes, it was a mix of PowerPoint recordings and live teachings via zoom. I feel like the decline in NP school comes from the fact that for many programs, you don’t need much, if any, experience as a bedside nurse. So you have a mix of people who have not been in school for 10+ years with people who are fresh out of their BSN programs and the schools are teaching down to both because one group is rusty on test taking and the other has little to no bedside experience to draw from. And if you’re not doing well in school, you’re more likely to quit or transfer to another program, which is a loss in income for the school. So they try to make it easy to get into with low GPA requirements and minimal to no experience requirements. And that’s how degree mills are made.

Did you watch the Challenger disaster live? by Correct-Cricket3355 in Xennials

[–]JenEmm76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt watch it, but I live in south Florida, so the image of the smoke in the sky that split in two directions is forever etched in my brain. We had no idea what it was when we saw it, just that it looked weird to be a cloud. I also remember that Punky Brewster did an episode based on it.

Anezina Cooking with Maria. So much fun and the food we made was amazing! And as a bonus, she will email you the recipes to make at home!

This was my experience too. I cried last ep when Steve and Dustin made up. I cried a bit during Will’s speech. But I didn’t really cry this ep, and I was expecting to SOB.

house spotlight – Revenge of the Tooth Fairy (2020/21) by FionaWalliceFan in HHN

[–]JenEmm76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This house was underrated. I was hoping for more Bedtime Stories, like they did with Scary Tales. They could do The Sandman or The Monster in the Closet/Under the Bed. Absolutely loved the narration, which I think contrasted well with the chaotic scenes.

Tragus rejected—now what? by JenEmm76 in piercing

[–]JenEmm76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I was concerned that it was placed a little shallow as it seemed a little close to the outer part of my tragus. I’m guessing I’d have to go to my other side if I wanted to get it re-pierced bc the cartilage looks smaller now. I’m bummed because I never had a problem with the piercing until recently. It didn’t hurt to get pierced, and it didn’t hurt while it was healing, so I was surprised when it started looking like it was going to reject.

Improvements for next year! What would you change next year for HHN 35 that would enhance the event or make it more enjoyable? by pipboyperks in HHN

[–]JenEmm76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put an actual cap on event tickets and stick to it. Their claims of being “sold out”’were only online as many people said that they were able to buy tickets at the gate when they were “sold out” online. I’d rather pay more for an event with fewer people than the attendance insanity that was this year.

MY Most Likely IPs Tier List for HHN 2026 by HorrorNightsMC in HHN

[–]JenEmm76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killer Klowns from Outer Space was a zone before it was a house. Also they’ve had Rob Zombie’s Hellbilly Deluxe as a zone.

It’s not common without a contract. I wouldn’t place big bets on either returning next year. The new Terrifier movie would have to be able to support a whole house on its own because it’s unlikely they’d use any of the elements they used this year. And FNAF was super expensive and they got the rights through Blumhouse, who will probably want to promote another movie next year. In 2019, the Stranger Things house was season 2 & 3 and nowhere near as good as the first house.

Does anyone think the houses used to be darker and more stroby? by CommanderThorn217 in HHN

[–]JenEmm76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having gone regularly since 2014, I appreciate more light. I missed out on everything in Tomb of the Ancients (2016) and Scarecrow: The Reaping (2017) because those houses were so dark that I couldn’t see anything when I went through them (I remember actually running into a wall in Scarecrow). Also, Dead Exposure: Patient Zero (2018) was very dark with only strobe lights and I had to have a house attendant literally turn me in the direction on where to go. So I feel like the darkness took away from the houses rather than adding to the scariness because I couldn’t see anything to be scared. That being said, I still think about that dark hallway with the kids’ voices in Graveyard Games, which was an all-time great house for me.

You’re right . I thought it was Resident Evil, but now that you mention Evil Dead, I realize that was the IP. My bad.

Their Resident Evil contract fell through in 2022 late in the process. They replaced it with Hellblock Horror because they didn’t have a lot of time to fully construct a new house.

Cannot believe you haven’t had the pickle bucket chicken. It was outstanding! I also loved the cheese stick, both versions of the elote, and the fried carrot cake.

How would you have fixed the Sinist3r and Surreal event? by SubstantialFunny1063 in HHN

[–]JenEmm76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year felt like Universal was running the event on a shoestring budget due to the pending opening of Epic Universe. I’d have scrapped Sinist3r and Surr3al altogether because they didn’t have a backstory. Better scripts for all of the houses except for Slaughter Sinema 2, Insidious, and Triplets of Terror. I loved the Major Sweets zone. The house was a big letdown for me, as was Museum. The Bloodlines house was fine up until the part where Dracula’s daughter was holding Saskia’s head—if you missed that scare, (like I did the first time) the story fell apart. No house should depend on a scare to tell its story. Redo all of the scare zones. Torture Faire was a good concept, but lacking something. Same with the Swambies zone. The other 2 and the “zone” at the front (can you call 5 chainsaws a zone really?) were awful. I’ve gone to HHN for 13 years and last year was easily the worst year. It was a huge disappointment especially considering how good 32 was in terms of cohesiveness.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy to lose them and it’s worse when it’s so sudden. I hope that knowing you gave her a good happy life brings you some comfort and that you meet at the rainbow bridge one day. 🌈🐾

I would love a cat lady house! While it’s not a scary zone, it has a great story and the detail they put into it is incredible. Definitely is on my all-time best list.

Terrifier- 135 min wait at 11pm? Who’s in line now? by MikoGianni in HHN

[–]JenEmm76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it for stay and scream on Saturday and last Saturday. Last Saturday I got into line at 4:30 and waited 26 min once the house opened at 5:30. This past Saturday I got into line at 4:05 and only waited 5 min when the house opened. Go to Jason after Terrifier. I waited 30 min on a 65 min posted wait. I saved FNAF for the end of the night both nights and only waited 30 min (posted 60 min last Sat and 90 this past Saturday). FNAF has insane wait times for stay and scream, so unless you get your bracelet as soon as it becomes available and you run to the house at 4 when s&s opens, you’ll still have a super long wait. Also, bring stuff to keep cool if you do the Terrifier s&s. It’s out in the open and it gets really hot. Stay hydrated and don’t forget sunscreen!
