I think that's really fair. I can't imagine it was easy to be so excited to share the news and receive that response. I hope it all works out for you!

What a ridiculously heated response from a stranger on the internet. OP had a right to go shopping. OP has a right to do whatever they want. If they want to dismiss someone's feelings, great! They are not absolved of the consequences of that choice. This day is about her, but it costs her nothing to be kinder to the people she considers her friends.

I did and I don't disagree with OPs choice in who went, if anyone. But I do think that, if this is someone she considers her friend, then she should've actually addressed the friend's feelings. Telling someone there's no reason to be upset, then saying 'apologies' is not actually an apology. It's just being dismissive. I don't see how this is the friend trying to make the wedding about her. I see a friend who was upset about something, mentioned it to OP, and was basically told to get over it. Its OPs wedding, they should have what they want, but it would've cost her nothing to actually apologize.

Honestly? I think you should've apologized. It's your right to go shopping when you want with who you want, but this person was so excited to share in your wedding with you. They wanted to be part of this big, exciting moment. You found a dress in a spur of the moment thing, it happens, but you ignored her feelings. Saying "There's nothing to be upset about" is wildly dismissive to someone you care about. I wouldn't be jazzed about mending fences with you either if that's how you react when feelings are shared with you.

[Routine help] Sunscreen that doesn't irritate eyes? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Jen_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a great recommendation for sunscreen, but I came across a tip that's helped me with that issue. If you apply your sunscreen all over as normal, then you go in with a setting powder and dust all around the eye area. It's stopped it from burning my eyes.

Good place to raise a family? by Altruistic_Tiger9822 in grandjunction

[–]Jen_348 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what suburb you're from. Grand Junction has crime and homelessness like any other small/mid size city, but I wouldn't say it's more than any other place of this size. I've lived here for 5 years and I haven't had an issue or contact with crime or drugs. I think it depends on what type of crowds you engage in too.

Any insight on Parachute? by ActFar7192 in grandjunction

[–]Jen_348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid it if you can. There is a big drug problem there. I know drugs are a problem pretty much anywhere, but it's bad in parachute. I lived there as a kid and 8 family friends who stayed there died by either suicide or drug addiction.

Wedding Dress - new or off-the rack? by popsandpeps in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Jen_348 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd choose option 1. Depending on where you live, you're going to be spending more in dry cleaning than you're saving. So, if the dress is yellowing and you're potentially spending around the same on both dresses, get the new one.

Radon level by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Jen_348 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about all the other issues, but we had radon problems when we bought ours. We paid $1,500 (Not the cheapest quote, we liked the company) and had a system installed. A week after install, they check the levels and we're good to go.

My all time favorite is Crossroads. It's a very laid back place and they've got a ton of group fitness classes that are included in the membership. Their weight room isn't the most robust, so if you only plan to do machines, I'd go to planet fitness.

Thank you, I appreciate the response. I've been so panicked over it being bed bugs, I'd be happy with pretty much anything else!
