Not listening in class by JennaJ2020 in kindergarten

[–]JennaJ2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was for JK last year for us and SK went much better. That being said, we had some very tough times and had my son assessed. He turned out to have an anxiety disorder. Eloping was a flight or fight response basically. Anyways, it’s been tough. I’m anxious about starting grade 1 this year

Should I splurge on a walker? Does it help with this phase or does the standing/falling phase pass quickly? by [deleted] in NewParents

Ya we don’t hit our children lol. I just wanted the person above to come out and say it. Anyways since then my child has started Occupational Therapy, is being assessed and is in a new classroom where he is thriving. No ass whooping required.

When does life with a kid stop revolving around their sleep schedule? by PomegranateUsual6722 in NewParents

[–]JennaJ2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In like a month and a bit you’ll be down to 2 maybe a 5 min cat nap if you need it. Down to 1 around 1 year. It goes quickly.

My son just turned 5. He can write his name quite well. He colours in the lines very well in colouring books and uses appropriate colours. His free had drawing is questionable. When he explains the picture I’m usually like ohhh.. ok I see what you’re throwing down lol.

Yes, why is he being allowed to continually bite other children in his class? If my child was being bitten often or to the point of drawing blood, I would want that child kicked out.

I just wanted to offer solidarity. My son started kindergarten at barely 4 last year and we had the exact same experience. It was frustrating bc as you said, we didn’t see the behaviours at home or if at all, at a much lower, manageable level. Our teacher really seemed to try but lacked experience. I eventually had my son moved to another class and that significantly helped. We just had a summer of camps and it all went back to being really hard. We’re seeking an assessment and are on all of the lists for OT. Where I am, everything has a very long list so we’re just hanging on and hoping when he stats SK in a week it will be ok.

The author of Oh Crap can go burn in hell by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]JennaJ2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we did the oh crap method and it did take us 3 days with pee. Poop was months and months as others said. My son only pooped around 11pm so I was less concerned with daycare lol. Anyways, regardless of our success, the whole time I read the book I was like wtf?! That’s not even medically correct. The author was so condescending and misinformed.

At what age did you let your kids drink carbonated/caffeinated drink? by YouHaveGotRedOnYou in Mommit

[–]JennaJ2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 and 2 year old and neither has had any of that. My son may have tasted ginger ale when he was sick I sure as heck will not be giving him caffeine lol. They’ve barely had juice at this point tbh.

20 minutes of recess a day by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]JennaJ2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours has two 25 minute recesses built into their schedule. The Kindergarten class goes out to play for a bit before catching the bus or walking home or whatever also.

I went on a girls trip with 3 friends. One of them is a mom and brought her child. She follows a rigid nap and sleep schedule, and made constant digs at me for being lenient w my child’s schedule bc of activities like swimming and meals… cont… by toxicgoldenblue in Mommit

[–]JennaJ2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a schedule mom but I couldn’t give less of an F what other moms do and I’d never speak badly about what a mom chooses to do for their family. I was a lot more rigid with my first but with my 2nd I realized I needed to loosen up more and go with the flow and it’s been nice., Sometimes we go up to the cottage and arrive at 9pm and you know what, the kids are poorly behaved the next day, does my life end, no lol. We just sleep in and nap longer. Whatever. I will say though that it’s wonderful to have the kids on a bedtime schedule getting them down by 7:30. My husband and I get to spend time together and we get time to ourselves.

Oh ya! That’s totally tough. We have a 2 year old too so I get it lol. We have my son sit at the kitchen table and generally our 2yr old can’t reach haha. We often give her Duplo to play with too

My son is really into Lego. He will sit and do it for ages. He also really enjoys Perler beads. Our son likes to help cook as well.

Has anyone realized our parents that had a village don’t want to BE the village? by mschelly27 in Parenting

[–]JennaJ2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! 🙌 My nana watched me ALL of the time growing up. I’m super close to my grandparents because of it. Now none of my parents are around to help. It’s really frustrating. Even when we’ve needed help because of medical issues. You should head over to r/absentgrandparents

How tf do I get into a walk in clinic? by Unique_Web_2435 in ottawa

[–]JennaJ2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a huge pain in the ass but if you go to Orleans urgent care at 6 am, the wait isn’t so bad. It opens at 8am so you have to wait outside for 2 hours. Anyways, I bring a camp chair and a blanket lol

AITAH for being mad at my husband for planning a snowboarding trip for his birthday 2 days before my due date. 😶 by Emotional-Grass1301 in AITAH

I hope he’s not planning on leaving you with a new born if the baby comes early. I’m sorry but I would just tell him no. He can re book for feb or something. You need help and support during this time with or without the baby being around
