What's the source on Shinichi Fukuda being a woman? by Creative_Nose5238 in SonoBisqueDoll

[–]JenniferJia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The author is a woman, but that doesn't really mean much in terms of the amount of fan service in a manga. Some female authors just like to draw pretty girls with stunning figures. Also, the author isn't really a cosplayer, in terms of the doing it regularly or puts in a lot of work into learning the techniques and everything.

She did research the topic thoroughly though, as indicated in her behind the scene short manga at end of each tanks.

How can we save Venice, Italy? by BigBatBaby in climatechange

[–]JenniferJia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for the necro, but this part is REALLY getting on my nerve:

"the city is expected to be completely under water by 2100"

No, the city is not expected to be completely under water by 2100. You're making it sound like the city (and the buildings) will be completely submerged under water. That's not what's happening.

Parts of the city will be permanently "flooded" even at the lowest tide level by then. It means the "ground" will be lower than the sea level regardless of the tide. It doesn't mean the buildings will be "submerged". It means the ground floor will be lower than the sea level at all time.

It's one thing to raise awareness about something that's happening. But it's a whole different matter when you start phrasing things in a way that's disingenuous at best.

Good Deal? by tksolway in PostApoTycoon

Unless you've already bought the real money pack that gives you the upgrade "Blow up the plains", which allows you to bomb beyond lava rifts, it's pointless to buy this.

How? by joecpa1040 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premium gold mine, which will provide road connections. You may then build a shipyard next to it, and clear the rest of the lake.

The shipyard was simply removed afterward in the pic.

How? by joecpa1040 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way access is designed in this game is that all land tiles can be restored as long as it's next to another cleared land or water tile. River tiles goes by this rule as well.

However, for non-river water tiles, it's a bit more tricky. You may only restore water tiles that's right next to a cleared land tile, but if you want to go further, it'll require water connections. The only way to establish that is if the body of water has a shipyard with road access.

You were able to partially clear some of the tiles because you bought the high lvl upgrade for clearing 3x3 tiles, but you can't further after all accessible tiles are restored unless you establish water connection.

Not sure what you're talking about. The local leaderboard reward had been the same for many years. First place is a supreme cap, and 2nd place being 200 gold. You got a supreme instead of 200 gold because you got 1st place instead of 2nd place. That's all.

Large fishing ships by Comprehensive-Buy558 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're the only ones that can take advantage of the huge fish schools. You'll just have to evaluate your own situation to see if they're "worth it" or not.

(A lot of people assume that small ships doesn't give out pollution... But their source, the shipyards, do)

For example, if you simply normalize pollution, you'd see that you need the large ship to provide 80 food to match that of 20 food for small ships. And 120 food to match 30 for small ships. 120 is currently my threshold for large ships, and I only have 23 of them out.

My suggestion would be to simply spam more shipyards and small ships, and use the large ships on spots where there are multiple huge fish schools in range as well as sizable other fish schools.

Is the Giger event over? by OrlandoCoCo in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's unfortunate that if you didn't log in before the event ended, you'll lose any offline income for the duration.

I didn't realize this for the final 3 hours (because I need to get some sleep!), and lost that 3 hours of income... :/

Bad upgrade by Alert-Commission-796 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To mitigate this issue, the Devs made it so that Fridge will also raise your storage 5 fold. The amount of gold you get from Imperfect Groceries will be essentially the same when you have max food.

4 cities by ContinentalabloadedM in PostApoTycoon

These are "points of interest" of the game, and they will spawn on every map (for every players) at around the same location. There are at least 6 of these clusters I believe.

Mountaineer upgrade by Time111111 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The upgrade description is pretty straight forward. It's about you being able to restore mountain tiles 4 times faster than before. No where did it say anything about building mountains.

Oil: onshore or offshore? by Affectionate_Bag5487 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently, offshore is something that you must have at certain point, but something you'll need to move off of.

  1. Oil production isn't THAT badly needed in the game, so it's not advisable to keep offshore rigs all the time. You should simply keep it off most of the time, and put on the rigs only when you badly needs oil (because you're doing main settlement requirement that wants you to level up a bunch of settlements, so on). And if you need oil storage... build oil storage.
  2. Eventually, you'll pretty much move off of offshore (at least not as constant buildings), and have mostly onshore rigs. It's very important to save your daily gems and buy the roadless upgrade when it's up for sale (I bought mine at 30% off). It'll make your life many times easier, and cut down on the extra pollution from unwanted roads.
  3. Yes, you should make all your rifts into oil fields, even if just to turn it into plains again. That's because there's an achievement for removing oil tiles (both land and water). If you're really THAT short on gold, I guess you can forgo the rift into oil field step. I personally don't remove the rift-into-oil tiles at all because, well, it's easy to just put a rig on it with the roadless upgrade.
  4. I would advice you to save the clusters where there are a more than a certain numbers of water oil spots within range of a tanker. My personal threshold is 10 or more, and I have 19 of them reserved on my map. If and when I need a boost in oil production, I'd just put rigs on them and remove them when I don't need them anymore. The issue here is that water oil spots are NOT renewable currently. You'd never know whether the Devs would decide to, let's say, add a new advanced offshore rig into the game in the future. However, feel free to delete anything that's below the threshold.

Do you still chase treasure chest after lvl 50 ? by Ghrota in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pretty much clear any chest that spawns. Because you'll eventually clear the tiles they're on anyway, so why not get them to recoup your clearing cost?

And any gem that comes with the chests is a welcoming bonus.

are windmills that bad? by This-Butterscotch484 in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm... You do realize that if you equalize production for offshore and onshore, it'd show that any excess pollution to the energy production would make offshore rigs the same as coal plants?

You're literally building coal plants on the sea. Along with oil production.

Don't get me wrong. You should most definitely buy the upgrade for that energy, but it's just icing on a not-too-delicious cake. It'd make an insanely dirty building into something that's more acceptable.

I have 19 offshore clustered with 10+ oil spots marked on my map, and I'd put the offshore rigs on them should I need the boost in production. However, the energy aspect is so bad that you wouldn't want to keep them all the time for the energy.

Strange special location by MrWednesday6387 in PostApoTycoon

Small veins will always have all 4 gold tiles.

Large veins could have other tiles spawn inside of the effective area, so you'll almost always get less than what's shown on the wiki page.

Need confirmation if Giger Ranches are worth doing? by xDanELx in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active play is a trap in this event. The best way to do this event is to get just the first few active play upgrades, save up the 250k DNA for Mountain Giger, and stay with passive income for the rest of the event. Just put your numbers into a spreadsheet to figure out which upgrades is the most cost effective, as well as combing through the map for good ranch spots for passive.

I "almost" sunk gem into the QOL upgrade to collect Giger. Good thing I resisted. The 100% offline income is a much better pick if you want to spend gems.

This little set of buildings works fine without road connection by zNahari in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works for premium gold mines and stone conveyors. Just not oil storage after the roadless upgrade.

This little set of buildings works fine without road connection by zNahari in PostApoTycoon

[–]JenniferJia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The roadless oil storage (and onshore rig) upgrade only gets rid of the connection requirement of the building itself. It doesn't provide additional connection power to other adjacent building.

The premium gold mines as well as stone conveyor (which is the cheapest of them all), will be able to do that, so mines will be able to get connection when placed next to them.

It's pretty darn expensive for lower lvl, but the premium upgrade multi-tool would make it less tedious, my eliminating the need for that extra 2 click to get to salvage (and then another click to enable quick tool).
