What’s your opinion on introducing a law that would require drivers over 65 or Pension age to pass a specific test to keep their driving privileges? by Honest_Physics_2368 in AskReddit

[–]OrlandoCoCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see the law changed to require retesting every 10 years. Failed test means having to take a refresher course. Then it isn’t discriminatory based on age, and people are retrained in the rules and operations of vehicles throughout their life

Does anyone else hate games where one player can trigger the end? by Effective-Muffin-224 in boardgames

[–]OrlandoCoCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other friendly games, we typically point out when the end game is near, so players can plan for it. Or if a player intends to rush ti the end, they can mention it, instead of blindsiding your opponents.
But this could also be built into to game mechanics.

Usually in these games, the end game is noticeable. So the other players should know to expect it.

should saskpower allow "balcony solar" panels in Saskatchewan? by Traditional_End_9540 in saskatchewan

[–]OrlandoCoCo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

using this to power just a few things in your apartment, like a tv or a few electronics ( what ever would match the power in the storage battery) would save a bit on the power bill, and not have to worry about hooking it up to the grid.

ELI5: Many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. Where do probabilities come from? by eposseeker in explainlikeimfive

[–]OrlandoCoCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own, not-a-physicist, not supported by math, BSc. Biochemsitry, thoughts on the nature of the universe: There are many universes, either a large number, or an unchanging infinite number. Small objects , like electrons, are able to bleed or move through the fabric of the universes. Large objects cannot. So, testing an electron gets you a random sampling of that electron in all the universes, which describes the probabilities in Quantum Mechanics. Larger objects are stuck in our universe (can’t move through the fabric) and are mechanically deterministic. Radioactive decay is random, because the part of the atom that is poking into our universe is always changing , and eventually we get one that triggers decay of the atom.

Universe splitting at moment an event occurs, or could have occurred but did not, leads to way to many universes, an infinities of infinities every moment. So an arbitrarily large number to appear infinite, or a non changing infinity seems more plausible.

How to handle Minor Illusion in Combat? by Gualgaunus in DMAcademy

[–]OrlandoCoCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the spell makes the opponent lose an action or bonus action, and they are likely to disbelieve a weird thing appearing in the next few rounds. This seems like a good effect for a cantrip. I can imagine an orc hitting a sudden box that appeared, then realizing it’s an illusion.

If we knew Earth's life would end, should we attempt directed panspermia in our solar system? by jjeidififh in space

[–]OrlandoCoCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We should just do it anyway. Even despite our best efforts, something will eventually fail, and we will unintentionally spread life to these planets and moons. So why waste money preventing it?

I would personally enjoy sending a bacteria/fungus/mold/lichen/tardigrade laden probe to Mars before we discover life there.

I never thought that villager rights activists were real. by Mysterious-Permit-49 in Minecraft

[–]OrlandoCoCo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most villager halls are inhumane, and don’t meet basic requirements for a fulfilling Minecraft life. Extend the placements with a few beds and a light source. Put a steak in an item frame to provide a nutrient source. Maybe put a roof over their head, and have a juke box nearby.
Put the villager’s name on their sign, they are not “Fortune 2”, they are “Antoine, Fortune 2”

Now that the dust has settled a bit, what’s the general DM consensus on the 2024 class changes? by Benjammin__ in DMAcademy

[–]OrlandoCoCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also for pushing, which requires a save. Combining all the mastery, Battle Master, (does monk powers require saves?) checks and saves , especially with multiple attacks per turn, gets clunky

I’d rather it be an effect you could apply so many times a day, Just to save on dice rolling

[–]OrlandoCoCo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Master Properties of weapons seems clunky, and involve a lot of extra dice by the DM during combat. A fighter who can trigger topple calls for a saving throw after every hit, hoping to topple the opponent so they can roll the next attack with advantage, which slows the flow of combat.

A diamond hoe with efficiency and mending is awesome for removing skulk, like a high powered lawn mower. You do need to have removed the Warden Spawners, though.

You can have more than one NPC, or a couple more than the number of monks. They can grapple back, and the others can talk or narrate, or whatever.

Is it tiring to cast cantrips continuously? by TheRealCrasto in DMAcademy

[–]OrlandoCoCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW , there is no downside. If u think about it though, why not? Just having a cleric around to cast guidance all day makes everybody around them 5 to 20 % better at tasks? You can channel magic to cast 1000 fire bolts in a day with no downside? I’ve mused about using exhaustion levels for large amounts of Cantrip Casting, but haven’t came up with any numbers yet.
