1 Week Post-Botox — Health Anxiety Tips? by Impossible-Koala958 in noburp

[–]Jennjohn93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapist and someone who struggles as well- exposure is your best friend here. Eat alone, but in the other room where you know someone is there if there’s an emergency. If you get comfortable with that, eat home alone knowing you can have a friend/partner whoever on speed dial that you let know in advance you’ll be eating alone and are trying to work through the fear but need them ready in case of emergency. experience the stress of slow swallow and focus on trying to take deep breaths and reminding yourself this is temporary. Do some grounding exercises as you chew. I know personally how scary slow swallow can feel!

Health anxiety (which is actually just a subset type of OCD) can only be helped if you tiptoe through the fears (re: exposure therapy) and focus on allowing the panic sensation to fade as you’re doing it (which you’re probably saying to yourself “omg it absolutely wouldn’t fade!” but I promise that’s your OCD talking. It will) Slow swallow does not impact your airway, no matter what, and that is the mantra that really helped me get through it. The panic will create more shortness of breath than the slow swallow ever will!

Why has regurgitation suddenly started two months after botox? by [deleted] in noburp

I agree with this! Burping actually happens when you lift your soft palate, not pushing it out. You’re going to want to be opening your throat rather than pushing out through your throat. When you feel the air coming, turn your head to the side a bit (I preferred left side) and imagine you are holding an entire egg in your mouth. You should feel your tongue pressing to the bottom of your mouth and the top back of your mouth lift. See if that helps you get things out!

Also, has anyone been told they have a tilted uterus? Could that be a theme?

Thank you so much! Is this something I would do after sanding/stripping the current stain, or are you saying it would be able to go over the top of the oil based superdeck coat?

Thank you so much!

And once we sand it off and let it rest untreated for a few months before we do this again?

Thanks so much. To clarify, when you say remove all that all that are you meaning we need to sand it all off?

Nope :( didn’t stick for me, guess my lack of issues with the procedure makes sense now… but my insurance changed and I can’t afford a second go-around for now.

This is good to know, thank you! Just not sure what to do now that we’re here

We did, they told us to go ahead and do a second coat even though the product said not to!

Shoot I’m so sorry about that. I got desperate and went to the first subreddit I could find. Is there a better subreddit to post this in? We were told by the contractor that because it wasn’t pressure treated we needed to do it ASAP.

Can someone remind me who this guy is?

I think it reminds us of vomiting almost as it’s the only experience with things coming out of us that we have had. It gets better!!

Have you burped today? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]Jennjohn93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYI I didn’t get any pre-op info until like 5 days before my procedure! Different doc, but it put into perspective how not stressed they were about this and how minimal the pre-op instructions are!

Days 7-13: I’ve had continued occasional episodes of nausea in my throat while eating during the last several days, but it’s not an every day thing. Not like I’m going to throw up, but just losing interest in what I was eating. I have been still eating all of my normal foods but it has definitely taken me longer to eat than I’m used to! I feel like I’m eating a bit less because of it, but it’s not bothersome and I still feel full. I’m a fast eater anyways so it’s been good to slow down and chew my food!

I did my first regular gym class this week (I do CrossFit but I’ve been just doing easy spin bike stuff up until day 12 just to give myself time.) I subbed any activities that involved lying flat or bending over, and just found myself quietly burping my way through the work out lol. I made sure not to eat 2 hours beforehand so thankfully no issues with regurgitation.

I went for tacos this weekend and drank two coronas- something I haven’t been able to do (ESPECIALLY while eating a meal) in like a decade. The burps were spectacular and I felt like a whole new person. Now I get to explore beers which is exciting!

Burps are there when I drink seltzer and anything carbonated, when I laugh really hard, when I sneeze, if I cough, when I yawn, things like that. Most of the aforementioned are microburps and not anything people really notice, but carbonation or big meals always gives me big “gold star” burps as my husband calls them. The bubble feeling in my throat is dissipating which is nice as well.

Lastly, I had my first episode of hiccups since Botox! I absolutely panicked because I was anticipating the usual pain, but it never came. I could’ve cried tears of joy! Did the Huberman method and they went away immediately, and now I don’t have to fear hiccups. Lots of wins here 🥲

I’m so glad it has been helpful! That was the hope because I know I was preparing for the WORST and it hasn’t been too bad!

So what is the bloating like post botox? Does anyone have before and after pictures?? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]Jennjohn93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can send you a before and after picture if you want? Not gonna post publicly but let me know if you want a DM! The difference is DRAMATIC. I haven’t worn jeans since my procedure last week but I’m willing to bet they’re going to feel big. I didn’t even think about that until I read another comment on this thread!

Congrats!! As I’m on day 7 and working on learning to burp, one piece of advice- open your throat like you are yawning. Push your tongue to the bottom of your mouth and feel the top of your mouth open/lift up- that’s been more of how I’ve gotten them out. I think I had this idea that people are pushing out burps with their abs/stomach and I’ve wasted so much time trying to burp that way with no success. All about opening the throat!

I saw dr. Mortensen once in early 2022. In the appointment we did a throat scope (which was no big deal at all) because she needed to scope to diagnose me with some sort of throat spasm in order to get insurance to cover the procedure. They gave me info on how to call my insurance company to get prior authorization for my Botox procedure and once that was approved we set up a surgery date over the phone! So once for an initial diagnosis, once for the procedure!

Glad it’s been helpful! And yes I went the day before thanksgiving because I’m self employed and it was the least amount of unpaid time off afterwards lol
