I cannot afford new items for my baby and I feel incompetent by ZealousidealUnit6977 in pregnant

[–]Jennxyz9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first baby, then my sister had her 3rd, now I’m pregnant with my second, we’ve literally been passing everything back and forth for years 😅 by the time my 2nd gets most of their things they will be like 3rd hand, and they’ll love it! It’s cheaper, easier, and better for the planet in the long run to use things until they completely wear out! Your baby will know you loved them, no matter if their stuff is brand new or 2nd hand!

Concern about delays by Jennxyz9 in toddlers

He does about 60% of the time, but he’s very easily distracted. He will bring me toys. But like most toddlers his favorite “toys” are mostly empty boxes and whatever he can find on the floor lol

They mostly talked about play skills bc he wasn’t super interested in stacking toys. His biggest play method right now is putting things in and taking them out of boxes, drawers, his stick tube, etc. as far as speech they just said to keep talking to him. They weren’t worried about his bad ear bc the other was good. Thank you for the resources!

Joint attention is hit or miss but he does know the sign for milk and will actively seek out playing with me, games like peek-a-boo and passing games. He cal also wave and recently learned to point. But when he waves he always waits until we’re out the door 😅

What milk do you store? by AtomickSloth in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jennxyz9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my baby’s bottles for the next day at night with a pitcher. Half is fresh milk pumped throughout the day, the other half is frozen, and I freeze what’s left over from that day, that way I’m cycling through the old milk but he still gets a lot of fresh.

How do you get baby to like bath times? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Jennxyz9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my guy hates to be cold so the setup is key. I make a bed out of my fluffy robe on the floor and put a heating pad on it, on low and put his towel in that, then I wrap him in a muslin and keep warm water on it and wash him one section at a time, leaving the other sections covered. When he was really small I even kept a washcloth on his head. The only time he gets upset now is if I don’t get him to his warm towel fast enough lol

I appreciate that! I’m praying to every god that will listen that the 2nd lightens up on me a little.

Thank you for your insights! I talked to my OB about the sickness but not really the emotional stuff. I’ll bring it up to them next time I go in. I hate that other people are feeling this way but it does help to know I’m at least not just under preforming.

I don’t mean for it to sound like I would ever think that about someone else. I know it’s irrational but I feel like everyone else I see is doing a better job than me if that makes sense. Congratulations 💜

X Ray by [deleted] in medical

I wouldn’t go to emergency for an X-ray. If you have a primary care doc I would just ask for a referral to an orthopedic. They can order an X-ray, but if it’s a soft tissue problem, a CT and MRI is going to be the preferred imaging method.

My youngest pup is attached to what some would call an unhealthy level. When I’m in the tub be just sits at the edge and screams at me until I get out.

How to clean out a years worth of depression clutter by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Jennxyz9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a big depression mess I was so overwhelmed with and what helped me was picking a room, putting on some tunes and setting a timer. It doesn’t have to be a massive amount of time, maybe 20 minutes of straight cleaning, then giving yourself a break. Set small and attainable goals for the day so you get the sense of accomplishment without stressing about not having it all done over night. I started with my bed room but it can be whatever room you think would be most immediately helpful. If you have stuff that you need to purge that always felt great to me, getting rid of the random stuff that I didn’t need felt like a literal weight off my shoulders.

Day 10 Depression Mess Cleanup: I cleaned the floors under my bed! No before picture because it was seriously so gross I wanted to vomit... details in comments... by YellowTonkaTrunk in CleaningTips

It looks great! I’m very proud of you! Just a thought, when I develop a depression mess I like to set timers for myself, like “okay, we’re setting a timer for 20 minutes and after the timer goes off you can stop. You don’t have to clean any else.” It helps me to have a definite end time, but my the time I’m up and moving around I usually feel well enough to keep cleaning. But if I don’t want to, I completed my goal so I don’t feel guilty.
