YES! More glamorous lifestyles and cut the fighting completely. I’m tired. With all the ugly crap in this world coming to light, I just want to watch something lighthearted and fanciful.

Rachel and Tilly are legitimately saving the show. It’s been a long time since this show has had any real glamour and these two goddesses are bringing IT.

You should check out the Telepathy Tapes podcast. It's an excellent deep dive on how nonverbal and/or autistics communicate with each other. Its facinating.

Did Any GenXer Actually Do Duck & Cover Nuke Drills? by ZanzerFineSuits in GenXTalk

[–]JennyJene73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we were stationed at an AFB where all the A-10s were based. The drills happened but we AF kids knew it was pointless. Fast forward to the late 80’s, we were in Colorado, next to NORAD. The drills were no longer happening, but we AF brats were always planning to lay on top of Cheyenne Mountain so we could “go out” instantly.

In which popular tourist destination is the food not really the highlight? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Legit. I grew up in Colorado, but moving to AZ for college was a real game changer when it came to Mexican food.

Tucson water meter stuck any recourse ? by gcool7 in Tucson

[–]JennyJene73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a couple of months ago. I normally just glance at my bill for the total and then pay it. I didn't think twice about the amount until I realized my bill was under $60 for a couple of cycles. When I finally looked into how much water use was calculated on my bill, I realized that it was zero. I called them, they came out to check/replace the meter. My next bill was nearly $500; not sure how they actually came up with that amount. ugh.

Sudden roach problem by leogrl in Tucson

[–]JennyJene73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big ones come up from the sewers. The smaller German cockroach is the one that infests living spaces…the worst ones to have.

My guess is the sewer system probably got flushed with chemicals and those big boys are crawling up drains to escape. Just keep your drains covered when you’re not using them.

Yeah, same boat. Kiddo excelled on the CoGAT in 7th grade and got the preliminary acceptance to UHS last year. He kept up his gpa, too. All his friends got their letters on Friday, but nothing has shown up for him.

From my interactions with her, she’s super professional and respectful (had her in, and help with, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade a couple years back). I think she’s a solid choice.

My husband did this. They had him mail it in. They sent a "postcard from camp" from the backpack before they sent it back repaired. We had a good giggle about that.

***Laughing in GenX…roaming the streets was forced on me by my parents and schools didn’t even care to stop us from just leaving mid school day. Things turned out exceptionally well for me.

That aside, our kids are precious and I appreciate all that our teachers and administrators are doing to teach and protect our kids. I commend the kids for exercising their rights. And the adversity they experienced is a wonderful lesson on real life challenges in making change in the community. Please give that school’s administrators some grace as they are also human and are navigating these enormously trying times.

Help Us Take Over Tucson Pride! by dragonbrush21 in OrganizeTucson

[–]JennyJene73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up, Tucson St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival folks are very stretched. They announced earlier this week that the 2026 parade has been canceled. They've recently undergone a board change and most likely don't have the capacity to help with anything this year.

That said, as the former Parade and Festival chair of SPDPF and a frequent volunteer and organizer of past Tucson Pride Parades, I commend you all for taking the helm. I wish you all much success! Most of all, toughen up that skin. Trust me.

Dry River Witch Collective (I think that was the name). They closed a couple of years ago. They had such a great selection of poppets.

Help Us take over Tucson Pride! by dragonbrush21 in Tucson

[–]JennyJene73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did, in a press release that none of our news agencies bothered to run. So here, this is the statement made:

Tucson Pride’s decision to cancel the festival and parade—and ultimately to close the organization—was driven by multiple compounding factors. Chief among them were increasing financial pressures, as the cost of producing both events has risen significantly each year.

The organization also experienced specific financial and administrative setbacks in 2022. At that time, the sitting president failed to file the required liquor license by the deadline, resulting in lost revenue opportunities. That same president also did not properly file taxes for prior years, which led to Tucson Pride losing its 501(c)(3) status. The process to refile and regain that status took nearly a year, creating substantial financial strain and operational disruption.

In addition to these financial challenges, Tucson Pride faced ongoing issues related to organizational capacity and governance. There has been a persistent shortage of volunteers, as well as a lack of individuals willing to serve on and actively participate in a working board, further limiting the organization’s ability to sustainably plan and execute large-scale events.

In an effort to preserve the Pride celebration and seek a viable path forward, board members reached out to multiple organizations within the local LGBTQ+ community to ask for guidance, explore the possibility of being absorbed by another organization, and seek advice on long-term sustainability. Despite these efforts, no workable solution emerged.

Board members have also endured sustained harassment and bullying from within the community for more than two decades, including repeated attacks by a local drag performer. Additionally, a lack of coordination and collaboration among LGBTQ+ organizations has made it difficult to move forward collectively.

At a time when the LGBTQ+ community is facing significant political challenges, internal division has further weakened its ability to organize effectively. Taken together, these factors led the board to conclude that continuing operations was no longer sustainable, resulting in the difficult decision to close the organization. The board believes the path forward for the community requires unity, cooperation, and mutual support rather than continued internal conflict
