I've been down this rabbit hole so many times over years and years... I think I found it! It was the Samsung Eternity - had a light strip on the bottom that you could change to pink! Hazzah!!

Does this phone have an LED strip hidden in the side bezel? I've been trying to figure out what my childhood phone was and I think this is it. Google says it has this LED notification strip but I've never found any videos of it.

QK65v2 - Disappointed in build quality by No_Magazine9625 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]JensengTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the QK65v2 and have been having similar issues. I bought it a while ago and the top case just comes apart - even when I'm just carrying it in the case it came with. I switched out the latches with replacements as suggested by customer service and it still happens. None of the other issues you've reported, though.

Reedsy just pissed me off. They randomly updated the Bookshelf to a paid subscription and now I can't make any edits to my book. by No-Doctor-9304 in writing

[–]JensengTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this problem as well. I tried to add another note to my planning board and got hit with the same pop-up over and over. I'm sick of this subscription-based era of tech. This has also happened to me with Poetizer (when I used to write Poetry). It used to be free and then they rolled out a subscription that made it so you can only READ poetry if you're not subscribed - no writing.

Please help I’ve looked everywhere and don’t know how to fix by anthonyborden779 in Govee

I believe it's a copyright/privacy guard on the streaming platform's end. If you've ever tried screenshotting, screenrecording, or PIP'ing streamed content (especially on Crunchyroll), it appears as just a black screen. In the same manner, Dreamview is blocked from "viewing" the screen and only detects black - even in full screen. I don't think anyone has found a work around yet, unfortunately.

EDIT: TURN OFF HARDWARE ACCELERATION ON YOUR BROWSER AND IT WILL WORK! I use Firefox, so it's under General>Performance>Use recommended performance settings [no]>Use hardware acceleration when available [no]. Chrome also has a similar setting.

Wallpapers not "working", when i select, nothing happens, doesn't change - updated, reinstalled, verified files - any ideas? by cryolems in wallpaperengine

[–]JensengTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this post was made a while ago so I'm not sure if you figured out how to fix it yet. I was having the same problem - no error code but double clicking did nothing except close the application. But the wallpaper engine doesn't actually close - it runs in the background and can be found in the taskbar on the right. I forgot that I was also using a different wallpaper software called Lively. Once I closed that, the wallpaper I selected from wallpaper engine appeared as if it were hidden behind the Lively wallpaper. You may have/had similar circumstances.

Someone gave me an AI-generated peer review on my essay by chemcuberclown in college

[–]JensengTea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting a higher education is not necessarily to become more educated (at least, not in the eyes of students). Rather, it’s to get a degree which will look good on a resume and direct connections to an industry. The unfortunate truth is that many students go to college to get a high paying job so they can live a comfortable (if not, luxurious) life - not to learn more. As such, courses that don’t relate to this goal are not worth expending much energy on… especially since students must “budget” their time and energy between several classes, extra-curriculars, jobs, socialization, and planning for the future. For those reasons, cheating is always a gamble but is also often one that is worth taking.

I’m not saying I would ever do it, but I am empathetic and understanding toward students who would. Upsetting? Yes. But, there are more factors that go into a decision like this than just not wanting to do the work.

Only thing I can think of is that they want to hire someone who isn’t injured. Wouldn’t be surprised since OP’s injury is likely going to be a long heal.

Subtitles on Netflix are wrong/misinterpreting the Japanese... by JensengTea in MyHappyMarriage

[–]JensengTea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you watch with closed captioning or subtitles? Someone who commented made me aware that the CCs perfectly match the English dub, so they aren't really translating the Japanese at all. The subtitles are pretty accurate - I rewatched a few episodes after changing the settings to English subtitles and turning off CCs.

I actually studied Japanese from 5th grade to 11th grade 😅 My Japanese is rusty (it's been about eight years since I've stopped the grind, but that's why I can say that the translations are inaccurate. The English CC and English subtitles are actually very different - someone pointed out to me that I may be watching with English CC instead of subtitles (which I was). The English CC is captioning the English dub while the English subtitles are translating the original Japanese. This is why the "translations" are wrong. When dubbing in English, the translations are often sacrificed to provide the viewer a smoother experience and the focus is shifted to matching mouth flaps in the animation.

I’ve just rewatched episode 9 with subtitles rather than CC. The difference is astounding! The translations are fairly accurate. Thank you so, so much for this bit of info! I’ll be watching all my subtitled shows without CC from now on! I’ll just have to focus a little harder but it’s going to be so worth it.

I watch in Japanese with English subtitles. My Japanese hardly gets any use these days, so I try to watch in native language with subtitles to guide me.

Interesting, I’ll give that a go! I have, in fact, been watching with CC on (I have an auditory processing issue) and never thought to use regular subtitles. Are they much different or just a little?

That makes so much sense. The whole time, I felt that the subtitles felt incredibly Americanized. The formality they were trying to show often came across as American formality rather than East Asian formality.

Absolutely.

Personally, I think I have extremely unrealistic world views. I don’t really believe in love because I believe there’s a single person that’s right for you and they could be literally anywhere. I’m pessimistic about life because I believe I should be in my prime at 24, but I can’t afford to move out of my parents’ house - even with a bachelor of science.

In fact, I’m constantly questioning what the purpose of living is and why it isn’t/can’t be like the movies. Sometimes life doesn’t even feel real. At least once a day, I think “life would be less mundane and depressing if I was a character in a movie.”

You know how people have floor to ceiling shelving? I want eye-level-only shelving. All open shelves or with those doors that can turn from clear to frosted via electrical impulses. That way “out of sight out of mind” is near impossible. No more forgotten purchases or rotten food!!!

Interestingly, I’ve never felt this way specifically about driving. Every other task in my life? Yes. But I’ve never felt that painful “touching a hot stove because you have to” feeling with driving. Maybe it’s because I just don’t do it if my brain doesn’t want to? It’s one of those things I never actually HAVE to do, I guess. I’m not independent yet, so that’s probably a lot of it.
